Wardrobe gaps

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2015 12:15

Have just had a cull of my wardrobe and a big sort out. Do this five or six times a year.

The 'gaps' that I have identified are:

  • a black or grey silk button down shirt (actually a silk/cotton mix would be even better)
  • a perfect black and white striped t-shirt
  • a white summer skirt, full, midi length, maybe broderie anglaise
  • the perfect pair of summer shorts - maybe black, grey or denim - must be cotton and need to be slim fitted on the waist and hops, no puffy chino shapes or belting or anything
  • a cotton jersey jacket of some sort - grey, maybe biker shape. I thought I'd found a perfect one at Gap, but it was pretty poor quality irl, and far too big/long. I need neat and fitted.

What are your wardrobe gaps? Shall we try to help each other find something perfect? :)

Loving that tencel jacket! But how short does it come up?

@BlueEyedWonder - these off white, not skinny, white jeans are fab:

They have a teensy bit of distressing.

@GeorginaWorsley - I'm exactly like you and loving the utility look! I recently got this navy dress from H&M and it looks good with bare legs and white Converse:

I've got this denim one on order.

For anyone wanting a chambray shirt, this one is really good:

frankietwospots · 26/04/2015 22:34

@Remus - have you tried Boden's super skinny black jeans? They are great. I've got them in vintage too. Also, their Bistro shorts are a good fit - fitted, slim on the hips etc..

Forgot to say, my gap is for a khaki jumpsuit. Tried a Mint Velvet one (ridiculously huge sizing) and a Top Shop one (strangely flat across the front) and now thinking of trying this New Look one:

The jacket is quite short going back Tuesday so will have a good look at it but was v nice.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 26/04/2015 22:59

I like that sleeveless H and M utility dress. I bought this last week which is much nicer in real life - not tencel but feels very similar - soft and drapey, cheap as chips and doesn't crumple.

SpecificOcean · 27/04/2015 10:03

Thanks Remus I like the colour of the shirt but would want it more fitted and buttons on show. Told you I'm fussy Smile

I do have a nice white shirt from M&S - slightly stretchy so perfect fit, will have a look when next shopping.

Re; black skinny jeans- I bought a brilliant pair of dark blue super skinnies from New Look in the Jan sales. They stay skinny and tight around the knees and haven't faded. They might do them in black.

SuperFlyHigh · 27/04/2015 10:49

ooh i have a few too:-

the perfect white shirt (I;m a bit like Remus and can't find one but want one!) I have boobs as well
nice tan knee high boots and bag to match - I've got brown distressed Next knee high ones that I really need to get the zip fixed on!
Black trousers - got harems, skinny jeans, leggings and cropped ankle ones but no other
another better quality navy blazer got a nice Zara one but not best quality
spring/summer jacket
some pretty but inexpensive underwear for bigger busts

I've finally worked out also certain colours which suit me and which don't and if I see something I really really like within reason I buy it.

noddyholder · 27/04/2015 13:00

Oh yes bras for bigger cup size that aren't stiff and uncomfortable I am not always happy with too much uplift and my 'proper' bra size is v uncomfortable and makes me look fat I am better with a bit of droop Grin

Sonotkylie · 27/04/2015 15:37

Mint velvet have a grey jersey biker jacket, Remus. Not seen it but their quality is usually pretty good ie better than Jigsaw IME.

www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_120010401462_- 1 I like the look of this for casual remus but is knitted

GeorginaWorsley · 27/04/2015 18:25

frankie
Love the H & M dress so have ordered!
Many thanksSmile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2015 19:13

The MV jacket is nice, but way too expensive.
Not fond of the Debenhams one, sorry. But thank you!

Superfly - For not too expensive bras for large busts, I like the Rosie for Autograph silk ones at M&S.

There's a white silk shirt here but it is a little reminiscent of some pyjamas I had in about 1979!

Must admit that I rarely go into Warehouse now, as everything seems to be polyester. Having said that, this is silk, and quite my sort of thing. And these trousers are cotton and look good too.

I thought you would be pleasantly surprised Remus.

Stevie77 · 27/04/2015 20:23

These trousers look like they may be just what I've been looking for. Hopefully they're not the kind that go baggy after a while

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2015 20:23

Still loads of polyester and hardly any silk/cotton though! :)

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2015 20:25

Ooh this may be just the sort of skirt I've been looking for though (Ignores the fabric!).

OP posts:
noddyholder · 27/04/2015 20:32

Debenhams one did look much better on passing photo dreadfully style much more attractive with zip less done up

GeorginaWorsley · 27/04/2015 20:39

Unfortunately polyester I'd everywhere now isn't it.
This sounds daft but I don't think i mind a certain sort of polyester. ..not the Primark don't go near naked flame sort .
Skirt good Remus

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2015 20:40

I can cope with polyester for skirts, but not for tops or dresses (unless sleeveless dresses/camis).

www.zara.com/uk/en/trf/outerwear/plush-wrap-jacket-c358030p2554554.html also lovely but very small

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2015 21:13

Love that. Too smart for what I'm currently after, but absolutely gorgeous.

Can't link on this phone but I like the Zara 'loose cut jacket '
Great colour and I like soft lyocell jackets.

PrimroseEverdeen · 28/04/2015 08:39

Banana Republic have some really lovely summer shorts in at the moment. I had some a couple of summers ago and they washed really well and still look good.
