Wardrobe gaps

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2015 12:15

Have just had a cull of my wardrobe and a big sort out. Do this five or six times a year.

The 'gaps' that I have identified are:

  • a black or grey silk button down shirt (actually a silk/cotton mix would be even better)
  • a perfect black and white striped t-shirt
  • a white summer skirt, full, midi length, maybe broderie anglaise
  • the perfect pair of summer shorts - maybe black, grey or denim - must be cotton and need to be slim fitted on the waist and hops, no puffy chino shapes or belting or anything
  • a cotton jersey jacket of some sort - grey, maybe biker shape. I thought I'd found a perfect one at Gap, but it was pretty poor quality irl, and far too big/long. I need neat and fitted.

What are your wardrobe gaps? Shall we try to help each other find something perfect? :)

love that shirt Remus, cheers

noddyholder · 26/04/2015 20:15

The culottes are big so get a size smaller I love them and have worn more than I expected

teacher1984 · 26/04/2015 20:24

Remus - Uniqlo do a good Jersey jacket that people rave about.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2015 20:24

Uniqlo one is too long for me. I need cropped or at least short!

Remus, I found the perfect black/white stripy tee in Primark of all places Shock. I've washed it too and it didn't fall apart...

GeorginaWorsley · 26/04/2015 20:34

I've revamped my style a bitGrin so am looking for more 'utility' type things.
I've recently bought a charcoal tencel sleeveless shirt dress from Warehouse that I really like and am on lookout for similar. ..

Some black heeled sandals that are a bit like shoe boots, ie quite closed in or caged but with peep toe.have recently taken to wearing more black.

I saw a long necklace with a sort of grey oval at the end (sorry for rubbish description ) in Phase Eight last season that I wish I had bought can't find it now on any website so may look for similar .
think Cos may have that sort of simple jewellery.

Oh and sleeveless coat thing in a neutral colour or black or navy

Itscurtainsforyou · 26/04/2015 20:37

I think someone was asking about knitwear/cashmere - www.woolovers.co.uk is a good starting point. I'm really pleased with a cardigan I bought from there last year.

avocadotoast · 26/04/2015 20:39

Have a look at H&M for shorts. I'm just a little shorter than you, OP, and I got some from there last year to wear while climbing. They're quite an obnoxious green, but you can get nicer (more subtle) colours! They're cotton but not too thick.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/04/2015 20:54

Ooh yes remus that's the sort of thing.
I've got navy ones from Clarks last year and they are lovely.
When it's warm I wear lower toe thing type things but sometimes only a heel will doWink

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2015 20:59

Clarks have a couple of pairs, but they have weird heels.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/04/2015 21:13

They have,I agree.
Suspect they quite comfortable thoughGrin
Am loving noddy's tencel jacket.

southeastastra · 26/04/2015 21:14

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2015 21:18

You can have mine, South. It's a bit too tight!

Remus I ordered that Jigsaw jacket a while ago at full price, it was really flimsy poor quality jersey I found and sent it back. I'm still in search of the perfect jersey jacket...sigh

lurkingaround · 26/04/2015 21:27

Anything like this white full skirt Remus?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2015 21:29

Thanks, Hobart. I didn't think it boded well, judging by how tatty it looked in the pic.

Lurking - love that skirt, but looking for something more casual.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/04/2015 21:35

remus I'm finding lots to like in Mango and Warehouse at moment.
I know you used to be a fan of Warehouse dresses Grin

lurkingaround · 26/04/2015 21:36

Shame about the jigsaw jacket. Liked it.

I have a gap for neutral-ish, not grey, jacket, preferably a bit fitted-ish, and short-ish. And not too structured. Saw this online, and wondered.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/04/2015 21:38

Ha Cross Post lurking
Mango great at moment imo

BlueEyedWonder · 26/04/2015 21:41

I've packed away my winter things and have moved onto my spring / summer wardrobe.
I bought a few bits in Gap last week to fill a few gaps Grin
Chambray midi skirt
Lightweight stripe top
Khaki chinos (£11 in the sale!)
Blue floral sleeveless cotton top
I need:
Tan sandals - lowish block heel I think
Vest tops
White jeans - looser fit - not skinnys
Black cotton sundress
Tan leather bag - looking at Fossil bags

lurkingaround · 26/04/2015 21:42

Hah! Yes, sometimes Mango is spot on! Off to peruse Warehouse. Never really look there.
