What to wear in summer when you have milk-bottle white legs

In winter i live in jeans, and dresses with boots and opaques and can rock it fairly well.

BUT in summer I don't know what to wear.
Are maxis too 2005?
What about coloured jeans? too 2010?

I have dropped a dress size recently (from 14/16 to 12/14) and still working on it and don't look too bad really but legs are a disaster for skirts in summer.
I have such pale complexion that fake tan looks absolutely AWFUL
NB am effectively SAHM so don't need to be too smart.

Please can you link me to some nice bits MNers
TIA

Just bare them! I'm milk bottle white, bruise like a peach, and have 2 preschoolers so bruises are inevitable. I get my legs out anyway.

Congrats on your weight loss. The Gap sale had some nice cotton skirts today.

GophersSitOnSofas · 07/04/2015 19:06

I'm very pale too, and plan to stay that way. I use factor 50 rather than fake tan. If I want to get my legs out then folks have to put up with the glare .

I find skirts a bit of a pain as my job means I need I restricted movement. I'm really liking cullotes. I got a denim pair last year on line from Toast. I wanted a m&s pair but their size six was too big for me- not a stealth boast, I know my measurements and I'm a 10 -12.

hiccupgirl · 07/04/2015 19:08

I just bare them too and my calves are very chunky...I've recently slimmed down to an 18 from a 22 but even when I was a lot slimmer I had chunky calves. I tend to wear cropped trousers and jeans mainly.

I do find after months of being out in the sun I get a very feint bit of colour on my legs but mostly they look like chunky little milk bottles unlike my arms which tan really easily.

tomatodizzymum · 07/04/2015 19:08

Get your legs and be proud of them. Wear whatever you like. Congrats on your weight loss. Smile

StrangeGlue · 07/04/2015 19:10

Well I wear cropped leggings under things but I'm sure someone will be on to say 'no cropped leggings'. For work I also wear flesh coloured tights as I don't think bare legs are appropriate but I'm aware they are not to everyone's tastes and I wouldn't wear them casually.

There's nothing wrong with white legs though. I wear tights and leggings due to chub rub really.

Wow I sound a really unfashionable peach Grin

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:31

SHOW US YOUR LEGS

i cannot believe they are so bad. and if they are i will say

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:32

how are hips and legs SHAPE wise.... for eg even if 9 stone i cant do flared skirts,..

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:36

oh god don't do leggings. its so horrendous.

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:40

in summer there are days when it starts cold but gets warm - say 22 degrees. In those cases then coloured flattering jeans are perfect - spec when still wrangling toddlers. See Next for some pretty ones ( order online ease) www.next.co.uk/g6z458s1#972053g6z plus their sizing is HUGE so that is cool

shorts, imagine the as trousers and buy a style where if they were trousers, they would suit you.

also Zara do masses of cropped trousers with a nice waistband - order large as are made for TINY Spaniards these here www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/trousers/smart/skinny-trousers-c401020p2544110.html

twinteresting · 07/04/2015 19:41

Legs are okay - don't have cankles but also live in ballet flats - can't do heels really.
Usually love a bit of JOhnnie Boden but NOTHING in his sale that interests me

Are leggings so horrendous with a skirt that you would usually wear tights with (e.g. denim??)

Where are we on coloured jeans???

Love these www.next.co.uk/g3054s2#828393g30

I get mine from Banana Republic in the sale at the end of the summer every year as the 'rise' suits me bananarepublic.gap.co.uk/browse/category.do?cid=66910

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:44

I had an interesting conversation once with friends at college. I and the other black people were asking why very pale white people thought their skin colour was horrid, when it really wasn't. All the white people were insisting that it was.

In fact, there is really no such thing as an ugly skin colour, I think. Bare your natural legs without embarassment, I say. Just keep your skin nicely moisturised.

Coloured jeans are still fine (well, I'm still wearing mine) but I think maxis are over. Pale denim, soft patterns like Liberty prints and jazzy lace-up shoes will see you right.

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:51

plus maxis are HOT

i ordered this ( see school run dress) and it would be ideal for pears IMO

was too wide at bottom for me

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:51

FOR FUCKS SAKE TWIN

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:52

what about those loose trousers people like? I am not so into them but they must be popular - the patterned ones?

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:52

I demand to see your legs

RipMacWinkle · 07/04/2015 19:55

I hear you OP. There's pale and the there's "dazzling white". Are you the former or the latter? I've seen articles about pale skin and the thought that it wasn't pale at all. Proper ill looking white I am.
