Muddling I have the Sommerset hobo in Oak....about 4/5yrs old, used every day April-Oct, still looks like new. Lots have criticised the quality in recent years, I haven't had a problem with mine.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 11/04/2015 22:38

Thanks Dry
Back to watching once upon a time on netflix.

Drywhiteplease · 11/04/2015 23:21

Ok ladies, it's time to put our handbags on the floor and dance to some cheesy tunes.

So, for those of you who haven't been at the wedding of the year, this is what's happened on the MNV table so far;

liberty has promised a demo of proper Irish dancing when she's finished her 12th glass of wine Hmm
To be followed by Sleep doing her party trick bit worried that her dress might not be appropriate though Grin
QueenC and Shop are wearing the floral centre piece as head gear, looks quite fetching .
Novice has been under the table for half an hour looking for the ring her DH gave her recently only £40k worth
Mara's actually swigging from a bottle Shock
Amber and Marsha are doing some very interesting moves on the dance floor, seem to be running Confused
topaz and Fedup are playing croquet barefoot on the lawn, it's a bit dark and they seem to have lost the ball.
Santa and linus were last seen leaving the room with a WHOLE tier of the cake and a full bottle of champagne Confused
Me? Sober as a judge............

Blair hope you're having as much fun as we are Wink

BrandyAlexander · 12/04/2015 00:18

Grin Grin Grin Grin oh god that all sounds sooo plausible! in my errm defence i think for the first time ever, I don't have any lost bling!Shock i need a halo emoticon .....for when i find the lost and never used mulberry purse he got me.Blush

shopafrolic · 12/04/2015 04:20

LinusDKD · 12/04/2015 06:35

Morning!

dry you are too funny!

shop I know you like newbies and now you're even recruiting them IRL! Grin

Welcome mazjacks! Tell us a bit about yourself and are you on Pinterest?

muddling what would you wear the bag with most?

And do you already have bags in neutral colours (black, tan, etc)? If so, maybe you can go for the green.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 12/04/2015 08:35

Im still undecided on the colour as originally looking for a grey slouchy style bag.
As im introducing more of the deep summer colours im not sure the chocolate brown bag will be very versatile.
I have bags in my collection in the following colours: black, oxblood, various shades of tan. The green bag was a lovely colour just the style of the bag puts me off as i really would like slouchy (if that makes sense). Im now trying to see if Mulberry do a grey slouchy style bag

QueenCardigan · 12/04/2015 08:57

Ha ha dry very very plausible Grin. After drinking from 3-9 yesterday I feel like I've been to a wedding!
blair if you're reading this you looked absolutely beautiful and ethereal in the photos ive seen. I hope you had a fabulous day.
shop you look fab too haven't commented or liked as too busy scouring for photos of blair. The all white theme seemed to work really well.
Welcome mazjacks, do tell us more about yourself.

QueenCardigan · 12/04/2015 09:00

muddling there was a grey Alexa years ago as it was my dream bag. I remember drooling over it.

MarshaBrady · 12/04/2015 09:12

Welcome mazjacks!

Drywhiteplease · 12/04/2015 09:45

Hello Maz welcome to the wonderful world of MNV

Drywhiteplease · 12/04/2015 09:48

I cant figure out how "Does my bum look 40" got all of this stuff in her hand luggage Confused perhaps my hand luggage is too small Hmm...........Novice you're the expert, how big is your hand luggage case?

BrandyAlexander · 12/04/2015 12:00

Sounds an awful lot in the hand luggage Dry!Hmm I have different size suitcases depending on length of travel and whether I am with the dcs. I am quite efficient, but tbh only ever do hand luggage if it's Europe for 3 days max and I only need 4 outfits, pjs and gym stuff.

Who was she travelling with? I most travel BA which means you can take handbag, laptop bag and hand luggage. I think I have flown a budget airline once for a day trip and Thompson once pre DC so not sure if I can compare! Having said that, a result of the great compromise (a longer negotiation than theTreaty of VersaillesGrin) I will be travelling one of the holiday airlines later on this year!

Karbea · 12/04/2015 12:03

mazjacks hello and welcome!

I had a complete revelation in the shower yesterday, I'm going to only take orange, brown (inc tan) and white stuff on hols with me. I figure I can then do a capsule wardrobe but look totally coordinated and autumn too.

So if you see anything nice in those colours shout!

Ootd - nude splendid vest, orange and nude floaty Coz short sleeved knitted top, new off white all saints jeans, tan thong sandals m&s.
Not sure what bag to wear with it. And dh says its colder than it looks so maybe brown leather MK biker.

Drywhiteplease · 12/04/2015 12:21

Karbea it's freezing here.....aren't you going to be cold? contemplates heating, vest and something fleecy

BrandyAlexander · 12/04/2015 12:33

I have worked in the City of London for 20 years and the changes in what is seen as appropriate dress has changed a lot. Someone remarked earlier that the business dress in the UK has relaxed a lot in the last 10 years. I agree with this, but, it's nuanced in the City. In the 90s it was very formal dress, I remember being told off for wearing a trouser suit in the mid 90s.Hmm At the time of the dot com bubble, 1997 to 2000, the old staid institutions wanted to freshen their image and keep up with the technology companies and hedge funds. That's when Casual business dress hit the City and everyone had at least dress down Friday and at Andersens it was total dress down. As the dot com bubble burst and wrapped up Enron, worldcom and Andersens, people in the City became very worried about their jobs and overnight formal dress became the norm again.

The hangover from that 5/6 year period, the bubble and the aftermath is still felt in the City today. We still have casual Fridays, institutions are less staid about defining formal business dress for women but I would definitely say that there is a subtle shift towards New York style thinking for both men and women. Some people have recognised that, and others haven't. I would also add in that the new generation of female leaders (those of us in our 40s) ignore the old rules about appropriate female business wear that we grew up in and are much more glamorous and stylish, if somewhat less groomed than our New York counterparts. My personal style is classic and feminine but still conveying authority, so I wear mostly dresses but solid colours rather than prints. I do think younger people (of both sexes!) in the City need to be cognisant of these things if they want to progress.

BrandyAlexander · 12/04/2015 12:34

Ah mixing threads!!!Grin

BrandyAlexander · 12/04/2015 12:39

libertychick · 12/04/2015 12:55

Hilarious post last night dry. I'd be singing as well as dancing after 12 Wine

Welcome Maz. How did you get on with the all white theme???

Deep in study here again. Am caught in an intense mental struggle between my utter boredom with some of the material that keeps me drifting off to Pin and my utter fear of failing the exam that keeps dragging me back to it. .

Drywhiteplease · 12/04/2015 13:08

Interesting though. Novice. I was explaining to DS how important it was to look professional, smart and have good shoes for interviews the other day.
Btw can't believe you've been working in the city for 20 yrs, you look so young hate you and another btw, I can no longer frown Grin
