I've got a big, important party coming up. There's no way I can justify the expense. I've sent back loads of dresses. Tell me I'll send this one back too?

It's amazing ! Sorry

janfebmarch · 23/03/2015 20:04

It's nice but I'm sure practically the same dress is available in loads of places but cheaper. Asos for one

pictish · 23/03/2015 20:06

Lace dresses are everywhere atm...I'm not sure you need to spend three hundred quid on one. It looks fairly run of the mill to me.

Eastpoint · 23/03/2015 20:07

It's about 4 years out of date, there are cheaper versions of it everywhere, they even had a similar dress in the Outnet sale last summer.

Any help? You could see if they have anything similar on the Outnet. Matches are doing 30% off at the moment, it might be on their website.

leccybill · 23/03/2015 20:08

Oh I've got one like that from Dorothy Perkins, it was £28.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 23/03/2015 20:08

It's beautiful Smile

Can you get to a big department store and have a personal shopper session to find something you love that isn't ££££?

Abraid2 · 23/03/2015 20:08

Really pretty and you would get lots of wear out of something so classic.

You might be able to get something similar elsewhere for less, it is true.

Teeb · 23/03/2015 20:08

It's a nice lace dress.

I'd assume it was £40/80

TangledUpInGin · 23/03/2015 20:10

I borrowed one from a friend like that - the make was atmosphere which I think is primark or peacocks or somewhere that would be about 5% of that beauty!

haggardoldwitch · 23/03/2015 20:13

I'm hearing you even though my hands are over my ears.
What do you think go this?

That ones nicer ino

pictish · 23/03/2015 20:14

Far more beautiful and less than half the price.

Teeb · 23/03/2015 20:16

The monsoon dres is nicer and more striking.

Lambzig · 23/03/2015 20:18

I am a huge DvF fan and have a lot of stuff from there. However, I think that type of dress has been done to death the last couple of winters and wouldn't buy it from there.

Boden, Jaeger, Monsoon etc have all done similar recently for less money.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/03/2015 20:18

This?

scratchandsniff · 23/03/2015 20:22

Have a look at Jigsaw website, there's a few lace dresses on there. It is a lovely dress but a lot of money.

haggardoldwitch · 23/03/2015 20:24

I love the Reiss one, what's their sizing like?

OP posts:
Notrevealingmyidentity · 23/03/2015 20:26

Monsoon one is gorgeous.

Botanicbaby · 23/03/2015 20:26

OP that DVF dress seriously looks identical to a Warehouse one I've got from approx 4-5 years ago! Please don't pay that much money for it. Shock if you're going to opt for DVF at least get something that looks less like your bog standard high street lacy black dress Smile

haggardoldwitch · 23/03/2015 20:31

Thanks guys,I'd almost clicked buy, you've saved me a fortune Flowers.

The Monsoon dress is nice but the lace overlay looks very "scratchy" in the picture (it is no surprise that it is made from nylon and viscose). Might be quite different on though. Haven't impressed with Monsoon fabrics at all in recent years.

I would go for the DVF out of the two. I think you'll get far more wear out of it - that monsoon number will snag so easily. While that DVF style has been very prominent in the last few seasons, it has actually been around for decades. Done well (I think the DVF is) it will not date too quickly.

Have you tried Hoss Intropia? Their "lace floral dress" comes in 4 styles and black or Ivory. The back bow version is just over £200 and I think it looks far better than the monsoon dress.

Georgina1975 · 23/03/2015 20:48

Just seen that Reiss dress - beautiful. Might get it myself!
