It's March. Spring is in the air. We are looking forward to losing layers and baring ankles.

This is the volume of the hen do and wedding. Will queen manage to get shop to wear penis boppers Grin. And will we all shed a tear when the beautiful blair gets married.

Following on from here

Oh and sorry to whoever asked - I am interested in getting a jumpsuit. I have one on order to try.... if that one is no good then the hunt will continue.

QueenCardigan · 10/03/2015 09:59

Morning all. Just having a quick sort out of the summer wardobe. Getting rid of a few bits as they look old and tired but there's some bits that I still love and can't wait to wear again. I'm also wearing new heeled boots (which i'm about to hoover in) as I want to wear them in before Saturday!

dry I haven't been to Brighton for years. I lived in south London at one point and used to get the train down quite often. Loved it.

Going out on Thursday for food and the dress code is elegant casual. I feel that sums me up pretty well for a night out.

Thank you for the welcome everyone. Smile

Someone asked me what my style is. I have to confess it's Frumpy Blush Blush

I have completely lost my way and have put on 2 stone since in the last 2 years since turning 40. That's in addition to the 1.5 stone I was already carrying about Blush

On a more positive note, I am in the process of changing. I have started a diet (currently sitting here in my sweaty gym gear). I have been reading all your threads for inspiration for when I reach my goal. Although my budget is a lot less than some of yours. I am thinking of updating basics only whilst I lose weight (plus I have some old clothes that I can't fit into at the moment) and once I have enough of those I will look to spend more on single items.

In the meantime, I will add links to anything I like the look of even if I am not buying it right now. Just humour me Grin

AmberNectarine · 10/03/2015 11:03

Welcome Undecided! Not sure I've ever mentioned it on here but about 7-8years ago I used to be a size 18 and was really unhappy with my figure. Then I interviewed for the job I have now - I decided I didn't want to be the fat new girl so I started a diet and exercise programme and lost the weight. I am now a size 8 . It can be done and you will feel better than ever when you get there.

Then, when you're done, buy a wardrobe of beautiful clothes - the expense of replacing my stuff keeps me on the straight and narrow every day Wink

Undecided90 · 10/03/2015 11:08

Wow AmberNectarine. That's amazing, I had no idea. Well done. I have read your blog and always assumed you were one of those naturally slim women. How did you do it? I am calorie counting and gyming. Currently a size 14/16 but really want to be a 10.

Thank you for sharing that. Its very inspiring (I need to stop before I embarrass myself Smile)

QueenCardigan · 10/03/2015 11:09

Well done on making a start undecided. Im sure you're not frumpy. What sort of things do you like? As you know we love fantasy shopping here.

OP posts:
Undecided90 · 10/03/2015 11:18

OK, her goes I am only linking to one shop as I got a catalogue the other day. I liked some of their clothes but I can't testify for the quality as I am yet to see them in the shop.

These are some things that caught my eye and I would quite like to check out when I am not so well padded:

this top with white skinny jeans

Not for me, but I liked the style of this denim biker jacket as it's so different, maybe marmite

Could be a lovely cover up for the beach rather than with trousers IMO

Really like this jeans and shirt combination

like this dress but think the All Saints one posted up thread is nicer

I would like to waft into the office looking good in these capri pants

I will be back later to other clothes I covet (and from somewhere other than MV just in case you think I work for them Grin)

Must get on with the cleaning.

Undecided90 · 10/03/2015 11:21

QueenCardigan - Cross posts. My current style is definitely frumpy and dictated by what I can fit into Blush. Work are trousers (I have two pairs and both are awful), loose tops to hide my middle and cardigans to cover my arms. Weekends are jeans and loose tops. I am an apple shape so my legs are OK so I need to make the most of those but I need to get past a certain weight before I will allow myself to buy anything (Its a psychological thing). I would love to be stylish so I am here to learn from the experts Smile

Ujjayi · 10/03/2015 11:33

Hi everyone. My week of sewing for myself is not going terribly well due to horrendous back pain. Seeing my osteopath later so hope she can sort it out Confused. Supposedly going to London tomorrow: brunch date with DH followed by solo visit to wedding dresses exhibition at V&A. Hoping I can make it.

Undecided: welcome Smile. Budget is not an issue amongst Voguettes - high street to designer. Bargains to blow-outs. If we love it then we share it. I'm also a slimmed down version of my post-DC1 self. I grew from a size 6 to a 22. It took great determination but I got back to an 8-10. I follow Tone It Up - the instructors are v peppy Cali-gals Wink but it works.

Congrats on your haul Shop. Your holiday wardrobe is Coming together nicely now.

One - congrats on your marks! Well deserved. Mature students always work harder than the rest Wink

Baring my ankles today: Indigo straightleg jeans with turn ups (Zara), navy silk blouse (Jigsaw) layered over white long sleeve tee (Matalan) & silver glitter flats (Topshop). Think I may recycle for tomorrow's jaunt. I've been wearing loads of black recently & navy feels more spring-like.

maradesbois · 10/03/2015 11:36

Undecided your health and fitness kick sounds like a good plan. We've talked often on here about the link between how you present yourself to the world and emotional well being. Don't do yourself down with the f-word btw, it's not true Smile.

Amber didn't know that about you either, agree that there's nothing like a wardrobe filled with expensive things you love as an incentive for keeping it off. My barometer is a red silk stella dress from the year I got married. Still love it and is full of memories, hadn't fit for over a year but back in it now, feels good.

QueenC elegant casual, absolutely!

AmberNectarine · 10/03/2015 11:54

Undecided yep that's exactly how I did it - calorie counting and exercise. Last year I took up running and lost a further half stone. It was tough but so worth it!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/03/2015 11:55

Hi Undecided - if you work in an office you might want to check out Belinda's workwear blog for ideas, not just because it's workwear but because she is an apple shape (I love following her but sadly can't pull off the things she likes). Then for casual, Eve at All Worn Out is also an apple. Are you on pinterest? And I'm sure you're not frumpy... good luck with the weight loss :)

I am happy with my outfit today, unlike Ujj I have gone back to black Wink skinny trousers, new Uniqlo pussybow blouse, H&M black 4 inch pumps and asos pointy shoulder jacket which I love. And new rose gold necklace. I feel smart!

I hope the osteopath can sort you out Ujj :(

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/03/2015 11:59

Ugh I really resent paying the outnet delivery charge for a small item, but there's something I really want! On the plus side I noticed they're now doing free returns, nice to save £2 if you want to order a few things and return some :)

Think I need a lunchtime browse...

Undecided90 · 10/03/2015 12:01

Bathroom cleaned. Just stopped for MN break before I move onto the DCs rooms. Thank you for your replies. I will definitely check out those blogs later. Good to know I am not the only one who has battled the bulge. I have an image of you all being naturally slim and stylish without effort, hence why I lurked for a while. Glad I delurked.

Karbea · 10/03/2015 12:09

Hello,

Sorry I've been AWOL for awhile. I've been so busy buying home things and not spent enough time on here me.

I'm really starting to worry about my eyesight. I want to make an appointment but I just don't know who to trust, I always get the feeling the high street optician will say you need glasses even when you don't. plus if I get glasses I'm admitting I'm old

What do you think of this jumper, do you think it'll look cheap? Think it might look nice with white jeans and light coloured boots.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/03/2015 12:30

Hi karbea no need to apologise, hope the home stuff is coming along nicely!

I am really happy with my opticians, Leightons, and have used them for nearly 20 years, they are a small chain and so friendly (I've used 3 branches). I'd definitely recommend them if there's one near you. I know what you mean about specsavers and the like, but if you are worried then it sounds like something must be wrong, so you should get checked out!

I really like the jumper, think you need to see it in RL but I often find it's easier to get away with cheap things in the summer (as opposed to coats, boots, winter jumpers etc).

Undecided nooo we may be named Vogue, but that's because we all have our (fashion) ishoos Wink (although we don't make distasteful comments about homeless people like the real Vogue editors!)

Undecided90 · 10/03/2015 13:20

Allowing myself a very quick break before I continue cleaning (house is going on the market soon so I am frantic)

like this and there is an XS in a different colour for £49 if anyone is interested

spotty chambray shirt

I think these trousers maybe an alternative to jeans when the weather is better

Back to changing beds.

libertychick · 10/03/2015 13:42

Undecided I am neither slim nor effortlessly stylish Smile. I'm 5ft 6 with size 12 top and size 14 bottom half - I am really envious of people with good legs! Good luck with your weight loss efforts, I lost about 3.5 stone 10 years ago - it has crept back up and need to try and lose 7 - 10lbs but just cannot seem to get motivated. I love the first MV top you linked - gorgeous for summer and I am a fan of Jigsaw ATM. Like all the items you linked from there.

Please don't call yourself frumpy Sad. Hair, tidy nails, small bit of make up, big smile and walking tall is much more important than the clothes IMO.

There are some very funky glasses out there Karbea. I go to a local optician - I think a small independent one you get recommendations on is better than specsavers etc. My optician costs more than specsavers but I trust them.

Stokey · 10/03/2015 14:11

Just catching up with no real fashion news, except the sun is shining.

I've just been to Pilates so am in my Hush harems, great buy so comfy, and am about to sit in the garden and have lunch.

I'm liking the denim shifts and shirt dresses in the shops, think that may be my next buy.

So glad you channelled Claire Dry, bet it looked great. I didn't watch Poldark but I did share a flat with Anghared Rees' son many moons ago and remember my mum being rather star struck when she met her. She died a couple of years ago, very sad, she was only about 60.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 10/03/2015 14:20

Popping on to say welcome to undecided. Like your links. Agree you shouldn't use the F word (Mara Grin). I always seem to like a lot of things decreed frump on the frumpy threads Hmm

Inspiring to hear your tales of weight loss, Amber and Ujjayi. I am like Lib and need to lose a similar amount but am similarly unmotivated atm!

Welcome back Karbea - maybe I am naive but I don't think an optician would do that, presume they have a professional code of conduct?? Agree probably better to go with an independent if that is your concern, though I always go to spec savers as they are so cheap and I cba spending money on glasses.

Dry I love Me and Em too. I can see the style as v you, clean lines, quite classic but with a bit of a twist.

I have decided I would like a broderie anglaise blouse - this kind of thing or this but can't seem to see any that aren't either £££ or mmf.

AmberNectarine · 10/03/2015 15:08

Been for lunch with a friend which was nice - had a cheeky vodka! Wearing my Topshop black denim shift, opaques, black Stans, leopard faux fur and multi coloured camo silk scarf tied jauntily around my neck Wink. Lugging my grey A Wang Rocco - it's SO heavy and I have a dodgy shoulder!

Drywhiteplease · 10/03/2015 15:25

What a beautiful day! Made a detour to take some sunny pics of incredible croci and accidentally deleted wally
Amber love your Peter Andre story.
shop fab Brighton info, a while until we go but it will be fun.

Undecided love some of the MV stuff, esp the first top. Not frump at all. Good luck with your fitness thing, this is the place to be for inspiration . Keeps me on the straight and narrow ish

OneLittleLady · 10/03/2015 17:14

Welcome to undecided as already said, all budgets are welcome here, my budget is definitely high street with the odd mega bargain designer wise (usually accessories) I'm not slim either but I have gone from a size 22 to a 14/16 in the last 18 months, it isn't easy and I still have lots of weight left to lose

Beautiful day here, been bright and just warm all day. Not sure it was really warm enough for my ripped jeans though Grin

Ellisisland · 10/03/2015 17:25

Hi ladies do you mind if I lurk / join you ? Have just realised that I follow some of you on Pinterest already !
I have recently lost my baby weight and got back to a size 8 and need to get some new clothes that fit. Also have 3 trips abroad that I need to plan for - a mixture of work and personal. Plus 2 weddings both abroad as well. I could do with some pointers in the right direction !

I recently moved from London to outside Bath so not as many shops on my doorstep so am doing most fo my shopping online at the moment. have a lot of stuff being sent back as I get used to new sizing! (Am making friends with my local Yodel driver Smile )

So if you don't mind me joining you could I get your opinion on this dress that I have got for wedding no. 1 ?

www.allsaints.com/women/dresses/allsaints-helix-li-dress/?colour=683&category=22

With these shoes ? www.kurtgeiger.com/abbie-nude-synthetic-38-miss-kg-shoe.html
But have no idea what to wear as a coat /cover up? The wedding is in Ireland in a few weeks so won't be warm !

Then on the work wear front I have got this dress pinterest.com/pin/286330488784894544/ but not sure what to wear with it as its for a conference where I will be presenting and then attending a formal dinner after with no time to change in between.

Sorry for the epic first post Blush
Undecided I lost my weight wig just calorie counting and leaping around in an uncoordinated fashion to online fitness videos! It's hard work but it does work in the end

Dry I love HOC as well and would quite happily wear all of Claire's clothes! I have got a couple of shirts that I bought after seeing her wearing the same thing. My DH is always telling me to stop googling her clothes and pay more attention to the plot !

Karbea · 10/03/2015 17:26

I've booked an opticians appointment for Friday, so I'll be nagging you all for glasses recommendations soon!

Beautiful day here too, I took the dogs to
