Which trainers are fasionable to wear with skinny jeans these days? I can't get on with my converse ones as they really hurt my feet.

Sorry OP, but I really don't like either that you've linked Blush Much prefer the Adidas in white and there are much nicer New Balance trainers than those ones you've linked.

Lagoonablue · 17/02/2015 09:27

I don't care what's fashionable tbh. Though I like the NB ones I am still a big fan of old school trainers. Like the Puma ones or Adidas Gazelles or similar. They have a full range of colours. I have got about 5 pairs of the puma ones!

GertrudePerkins · 17/02/2015 09:31

can't go wrong with any of the adidas classics IMO
i have peacock blus sambas and red gazelles
i think the key to any trainer looking decent with skinny jeans is forgoing socks, although it's about 2 degrees here so am swapping style for warm ankles today

yazzy85 · 17/02/2015 09:57

DontKillMyVibe I really like those puma ones! Are they comfortable and not too narrow? Although the white stans are perfect, I prefer darker colours because I am out quite a bit with two messy toddlers Grin

Lots of bloggers are wearing Stan Smiths, but personally I think they look bloody awful.

I have leather Converse, which are more comfortable than the canvas ones. They are fine for day to day, but I really need something cushioned for city breaks when I walk for miles. The New Balance ones look fairly inoffensive.

Caravanoflove · 17/02/2015 10:09

Gazelles. I'm trying to get my hands on the pale blue ones (and relive my 90's youth!)

yazzy85 · 17/02/2015 10:12

I like the gazelles and pumas, they look classic and stylish. Which are better for wider feet the gazelles or suede pumas?

VixxFace · 17/02/2015 10:23

Can someone explain to me why bloggers opinions are importantGrin

DontKillMyVibe · 17/02/2015 10:23

OP - I find the puma suede classics very comfy. Don't think they're too narrow but I don't have v wide feet so can't help you much on that one I'm afraid. I think the gazelles may be narrower but will wait to see what others reckon.

DontKillMyVibe · 17/02/2015 10:26

Vixx - I don't think bloggers opinions are important as such, but the OP was asking for trainers that are in at the moment. I guess if bloggers, fashion pages etc feature something often it's a sign that something is 'in'.

I like fashion blogs to get ideas and inspiration but there is also I lot of stuff that they recommend/wear that I wouldn't go near due to personal taste/not suiting me.

VixxFace · 17/02/2015 10:27

Which bloggers do you look at?

stripytees · 17/02/2015 10:31

I really like New Balance, mine are black/grey/purple (mainly black) and I even wear them with black opaque tights and skirts. I'm sure someone would come along and say that's a fashion faux pas though, but I don't care. Wink

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/02/2015 10:32

I don't think anybody is saying that bloggers' opinions are important, but they do seem to all copy each other and wear the same shoes for a few weeks before leaping onto something else.

Datahub · 17/02/2015 10:34

agree stan smiths vile
I have maroon new balance that i like a lot. In fact I find it hard to wear anything else

... They'd tend to be the ones I visit the most. Have a few others bookmarked but not too fussed on them.

LackingCommonSense · 17/02/2015 10:40

What about these beauts?

Shock

Honestly, why did they think anyone would wear these?

southeastastra · 17/02/2015 10:41

nike internationalists or supergas which are more plimsolls Grin

southeastastra · 17/02/2015 10:42

i have some from superdry which are really comfy, they have stars on the side and a slight hidden tiny wedge.

ElksCrossing · 17/02/2015 10:45

I've just ordered some of these: www.asos.com/Vagabond/Vagabond-Kasai-Black-Textile-Lo-Trainers/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4501854

They look a bit like the Nike Roshe, but without the big white swoosh on the side. I just wanted something sleek and black to wear with jeans/ cropped trousers when it gets a bit warmer - and hopefully these won't make my feet look too massive! We shall see...

yazzy85 · 17/02/2015 10:47

Personally I am not that in touch with fashion, just getting back into things after wearing maternity stuff for a few year so if something is being featured on blogs I know others are wearing it and it must be trendy or fashionable at the moment.

OP posts:
ElksCrossing · 17/02/2015 10:53

Those Vagabond ones I just linked to - I've seen them on a couple of blogs, e.g. viennawedekind.com/2014/03/07/golden-hour/ and just liked the pared-back look of them.

Admittedly that post is from last year, but still good for inspiration I think. I don't think I'm brave enough to wear them with slouchy leather cuffed-ankle joggers though :)

CharlotteInBlue · 17/02/2015 10:56

I got some really soft and comfy gel insoles when I bought my converse and they are the most comfortable shoes I own.

DontKillMyVibe · 17/02/2015 11:02

Wasn't too keen on them on the asos site Elks but I really like the way they look on that blog

ElksCrossing · 17/02/2015 11:10

Yeah, they're maybe a bit... synthetic looking? I often dismiss shoes because of the close-up view, forgetting that when they're on my feet, they'll be quite far away! Hoping they'll look nice on.

Datahub · 17/02/2015 11:15

hmm, those vagabonds have a strong whiff of Ecco abotu them
