What shampoo and conditioners do you use (particularly interested to know if your a hairdresser)

Hair dresser today (first time I seen this lady as my last one rudely without telling me left the salon), was telling me that shampoo on the shops is very very bad for hair and that it coats the hair and makes it have an unnatural effect? Obv the point was to sell me their mega expensive shampoo 17 bleeding quid a bottle but was it all for the sale or some truth?
What do you use?

I am using Tesco's coconut and almond shampoo and conditioner for the grand price of 80p per bottle. If I am splashing out I buy Brilliant Brunette, when it's on special offer. Actually, the Asda own version of Brilliant Brunette is better I think, but there's no Asda around here.

I find as long as I swap my shampoo and conditioner to something new every six months or so it's fine and stops it building up.

*disclaimer: I am not a hairdresser, just someone with very long, very thick hair

I use Aussie (not a hair dresser)
My hairdresser uses dove shampoo & conditioner. (Which I was shocked at)

I use head and shoulders and my hair dresser is always telling me how amazing my hair is and the condition of it is amazing.

Sorry too many amazings in that sentence!

I just have to switch between several brands too. I have used everything from Kerastase to Head and Shoulders and the only wisdom I have gleaned is that stronger shampoos give a lovely swishy look if you don't use them too often, and more siliconey ones (high end or Boots) give a lovely effect the first few times then look greasy and dry all at once. I have yet to find the holy grail one I can use all the time that doesn't either strip my colour (Head and Shoulders) or leave it all build-uppy (pretty much every other one I've tried)

Tresemme, Aussie or Lidl's own. Depends what's on offer or how flush I'm feeling!

That's amazing kahlua funny enough my hair dresser told me that my hair was in immaculate condition!

I use Pantene conditioner and Tresemme deep cleansing shampoo. Or Aussie. And Liz Earle when I have the £££.

I use L'oreal Elvive in the red bottle for coloured hair. I really like it but think maybe I should try something else occasionally to see if there's anything better.

Not a hairdresser - use Kerastase in the green bottles.
I find it makes a huge difference to my damaged hair, particularly after the battering it took post birth.

I use Head & Shoulders, plus run a bit of R&B (from Lush) through it after washing to tame my wavy/curly hair. I've stopped using conditioner.

Apparently product build up is a myth, as is that products get less effective if you keep using them.

Your hairdresser was probably referring to the ingredient in most everyday shampoos which makes them foam, which apparently isn't great.

I use a mix of kerastate, paul mitchell, then Aussie, tony and guy high street, herbal essences (which smells so fucking good)

I do find the proper hairdresser expense ones keep my colour better

I once tried the bumble and bumble organic shampoo which was hideous, it contained no foaming agent so was like massaging, erm, nothing in to your head

Rhinestone - you have curly hair but don't use conditioner?! What do you use instead? I'd be left with a mass if frizz if I didn't use conditioner on my curly hair

Aussie coloured hair shampoo and a special bright red conditioner by Osmo. They do conditioners in the shade that matches your hair and mine is lurid red, it keeps the colour looking great. Then a squirt of Argan oil.

I always use an organic, sls free one. Not a hairdresser, but always complimented on hair thickness and shine. I take own shampoo to hairdressers! As hate the bought of loads of excess chemicals on my head.

I wash my hair only x2 a week also

I use loreal fibrology shampoo. I don't use conditioner any more.

I switch between Simple, Aussie and Natural Collection rosemary (which I also use on DS because rosemary oil is a brilliant brilliant repeller of headlice much better than tea tree). I have a bit of a shampoo problem and have about 16 different bottles in the bathroom but those are the three I keep going back to..

My shampoo of choice is Aussie. But up until today my hair was past my shoulders so quite long and knotted very easily so took up too much conditioner plus it gets greasy every day. So I had been using lidl shampoo and conditioner lovely smell and did the job well. I may treat myself to some Aussie because I had it all chopped off today in an inverted bob.

QueenBean I use R&B hair moisturiser from Lush. It's got various oils and butters in it (and smells nice). I rub a small amount through wet hair and let dry naturally usually.

I use Aveda. Have done for years.

I believe it leaves my hair shinier & in better condition.

I know it is a pleasure to use. And it lasts ages so pennies per wash, over time... just expensive initial outlay!

After years of using hair salon shampoos with varying degrees of non success, I have thin fine shit hair. I went back to Pantene, the shampoo of my younger days. It's the only shampoo that makes my hair swishy and, well, hair like. I could of had a weekend in New York the amount I've wasted.
