Just browsing the "what are you wearing today thread" and every other person seems to be in something that sounds quite nice from Zara.
Am I missing something with this shop? I consider myself a pretty nifty shopper - can happily score bargains and finds in all sorts of places - I will rifle through tkmax rails for ages for a find but whenever I go on Zara I feel a bit lost and come out empty handed.
It just seems a bit all over the place and expensive a for what it is.
I did however get a cute outfit for my baby boy last time I was in
( default shopping option when I can't find anything for me).

I've had a few nice things from there over the years but yes it is pretty crap on the whole. I'm not 'getting' the new love of cos and other stories that everyone seems to be experiencing. Blah & meh

mooth · 27/01/2015 22:38

I've never seen the appeal of Zara.

Rivercam · 27/01/2015 22:40

I've not found anything for myself either,,although I did like their boys clothing.

justdrifting · 27/01/2015 22:41

I think a lot of their stuff looks lovely but doesn't seem to last. Seems a lot for the quality.

HermioneDanger · 27/01/2015 22:42

It's one of those places that is either full of stuff I want to buy or completely full of crap. The stock turns over so quickly that the difference in these modes can be just a couple of days. Recently I've not done well in there but I'm sure in a few days that'll change.

dexter73 · 28/01/2015 06:39

I like a lot of their clothes but tend not to buy anything now because of the poor quality.

Saurus72 · 28/01/2015 06:57

I don't get it either - polyester/acrylic tat as far as I can see. Like Next.

chanie44 · 28/01/2015 07:10

A work colleague is Spanish and a bit of a clothes horse and wears a lot of Zara.

I don't like the layout of the stores and find it difficult to browse in them. In saying that, the one near me is always really busy

Schoolaroundthecorner · 28/01/2015 07:13

I find the colours generally uninspiring. Lots of blah shades.

PrincessOfChina · 28/01/2015 07:16

Sizing is hugely inconsistent and the trousers are approximately 6 inches too long for me. I'm 5'5" so not especially shirt.

velourvoyageur · 28/01/2015 07:52

Loooove Zara. Most of my clothes are from there. I pick the simple stuff.

Agree the quality isn't great.

Don't like their sizing much though- too generous.

southeastastra · 28/01/2015 07:54

i love it, styles suit me, prefer it to most high st shops. really like their bags.

jenniuol · 28/01/2015 07:59

I get a lot in zara. Mostly jeans and tops/cardigans. And I do have one coat from there which is fab. I am quite picky, there's loads of things I don't like and like a pp said sometimes its great and there's loads I buy and other times it's awful and I buy nothing for ages. I am tall so love that the arms and legs are long enough for me. Sizing can be inconsistent, some things are teeny and some huge. I rarely buy online because I like to try on but they are great with returns if you do.

coffeenut · 28/01/2015 08:01

I really like the styles in Zara - however often have to try loads on and usually only find one or two things that really fit/flatter me. Agree that the fit is often inconsistent. I can be a small or a large and I'm a pretty averagely proportioned size 10 (apart from thighs!).

flanjabelle · 28/01/2015 08:02

Nope I don't get if either. I just looked at their look book and didn't like anything at all.

happyyonisleepyyoni · 28/01/2015 08:05

No, Zara seems full of badly made polyester clothes to me.

arlagirl · 28/01/2015 08:06

Some of the trousers are lovely and long...Ive a 35 inch inside leg.
But the tops are very narrow... I'm size 14 and can rarely get in them.

SinglePringle · 28/01/2015 08:07

I adore Zara - the cut is great for me, I love the wide range and the fact they change the stock so quickly. Fabulous styles. Easy to navigate stores.

However...

The quality has seriously dropped off in the last couple of years. I've clothes from there from a few years ago that are in excellent nick and then stuff I've bought in the last year or so frays at the hem / comes unstitched within 2 washes. Hugely annoying.

velourvoyageur · 28/01/2015 08:07

^ yes I am in love with my Zara coat!

It's soft grey, very simple. I get lots of compliments on it and it makes me feel polished and assertive. Like a grown up Grin Also have been told it looks 60s ish which I loved.
The pocket came loose after a week or so of wearing it! But fixed it and no probs since.

I have quite a few of their cheap black jumpers. The ones with the round neck are great, the v necks not so. Also am fed up with their obsession with putting uneven slits in the hems of things. Looks a bit frumpy if I'm honest, and I have tried to sew them up before!

velourvoyageur · 28/01/2015 08:07

oops x post! sorry

BikeRunSki · 28/01/2015 08:08

I've never found anything in Zara that fits. Curvy 14. I gave bern warned off Uniqlo too for this reason.

I've never bought anything from there. I've been in there many times after reading about how great it is but I'm disappointed every time. It seems very bland to me. Maybe okay for basics but I'd rather go to H&M for those as it's so much cheaper. The layout of the shops is always baffling as well!

Silverjohnleggedit · 28/01/2015 08:54

I cant deal with the shop but online is fine.

TheHappinessTrap · 28/01/2015 08:57

I went in a lot when a store opened up in town, I bought a couple of things but the quality was never that great. Poor quality fabrics.
