Just browsing the "what are you wearing today thread" and every other person seems to be in something that sounds quite nice from Zara.
Am I missing something with this shop? I consider myself a pretty nifty shopper - can happily score bargains and finds in all sorts of places - I will rifle through tkmax rails for ages for a find but whenever I go on Zara I feel a bit lost and come out empty handed.
It just seems a bit all over the place and expensive a for what it is.
I did however get a cute outfit for my baby boy last time I was in
( default shopping option when I can't find anything for me).

And that's got what to do with Zara / S&B Hmm?

Madamecastafiore · 28/01/2015 12:53

I buy lots for the kids in store and bits and pieces for myself on line.

You can get some fab bits but it's hard to find them in store as it's about of akin ble sale usually.

Endler32 · 28/01/2015 12:56

I bought dd 3 pairs of trousers and 3 tops for £30 yesterday, I don't buy anything for myself, it's not really my thing but their girls clothes are great.

Manyproblemsinthishouse · 28/01/2015 13:03

I bought a lovely outfit for DD, it is way to big round the tummy and short on the legs! £20 outfit, and I am never shopping there again in protest. But I do like there woman's clothes.

HappyGirlNow · 28/01/2015 13:07

I buy loads from Zara but only online. They don't only do polyester, I've bought loads of fab silk shirts.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 28/01/2015 13:12

I buy my DDs leather boots and cotton tops and blouses from Zara. Interestingly, I didn't buy much from Zara during the last season, but have bought a lot in the sale.

Charitygirl1 · 28/01/2015 13:33

Me too Belinda - what is that about?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 28/01/2015 13:39

Mmm, not sure, either charity. Am thinking that at sale time, ALL of the season's stock is in the one place so, actually, it can be easier to see things. Normally, things move in and out of the stores quite quickly, and I missed some things. Also, to be honest, some of the things I bought probably were a bit overpriced to begin with. Either that, or I am now so used to buying things at a discount, that I'm conditioned to only buy when on sale / reduced to a low price?

TeaAddict235 · 28/01/2015 13:54

I don't like the layout of the stores, it's a bit empty (and unfriendly if that makes sense?). The lighting is off and I don't understand who they are aiming for apart from "European stylers". whereas Gap 'feels' welcoming and warm, and have a range of styles- European, boho, surf, smart, casual, eclectic etc

mowglik · 28/01/2015 13:59

I do love zara, more grown up stuff than h&m etc but I also find the quality has dropped.

Still shop there esp for stuff that is a bit trendier than other high St stuff

AlleyCat11 · 28/01/2015 14:03

Not into Zara or Cos. I always look in Benetton.

mowglik · 28/01/2015 14:27

Oo also with the size discrepancies, i bought a leather jacket online in small, when it came it was a little tight so I ordered a medium only to find it was exactly the same fit in the arms and body but a tiny bit bigger on the shoulders.. I'm an 8/10 on top so felt sorry for anyone who was really a medium and trying this on- talk about making your customers feel like shite!

Charitygirl1 · 28/01/2015 15:59

That's true - I wouldn't have looked at a £250 pair of leather leggings because I wouldn't dream of spending that at zara. But if they're reduced to £70...

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 28/01/2015 16:37

Oh I wish I could get a pair of sale leather leggings from Zara!! I tried them on, though, and they looked awful on me. Seems the perfect leather leggings are a Real Project to find.

Bodicea · 28/01/2015 17:30

I don't get cos either - only looked online after it was reccomended here and it's all bland shapeless stuff.

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/01/2015 17:59

The Cos stuff all looks pretty awful online, and lots of it is also shapeless irl, but there are some real gems in there, if you're prepared to go in and try lots of stuff on.

punygod · 28/01/2015 18:24

I haven't had much from there, but I bought a black coat for thirty quid in the sale last Saturday and I absolutely love it.

It's also one of the few places that do scarves that are big enough, and they're really reasonable, too.

I find the knitwear a bit squeaky though.

Wenglish · 28/01/2015 18:42

No I don't get it either. I'm an hourglass of average height but never see anything that suits me.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 28/01/2015 18:43

Shite quality at Zara, I have never found anything nice in there.

BikeRunSki · 28/01/2015 19:32

Oh and most of the shop assistants (at least in the York and Paris branches!) are super unfriendly

Meadowhall too.

GeorginaWorsley · 28/01/2015 20:22

I've said before on here that I don't get on with Zara at all.
I read about how fab it is on blogs etc and in magazines but I've never bought a thing that I can think of,despite browsing the website frequently and visiting shops if near one.
It all seems either bit flimsy and cheap looking if not cheap price wise.

HappyGirlNow · 28/01/2015 21:00

Edinburgh Zara staff are nice! Grin

WhereIsMyFurryHat · 28/01/2015 21:51

The quality of zara is totally appalling in all of my experience. You can get much better quality for the same amount of cash elsewhere.

Knittingbat · 29/01/2015 00:05

Oh my God, I love Zara! I couldn't live without it! But then I am tall. Lots of other places are a bit crappy for me as waists cut too high, leg lengths too short. I'm not super skinny though (sadly). There is definitely a lot of bonkers stuff meant for angular artistic twenty-one year olds, but I love how easy the website is to use, so find myself flicking through the 'What's new' section very regularly and just snapping stuff up. VG with returns too. Their coats are really good. Where is everyone else shopping that is so much better?! Must know! Or is it all just down to whatever shape you are. I notice someone else saying they hated Uniqlo - I also love it too so maybe it's also for tallies?

Honesttodog · 29/01/2015 00:17

Glad I'm not the only one who struggles to get excited about Zara. Can I ask where you curvier women do shop.?
