The calves on my leg, not in the field, obviously. Hang my head in shame. I really really want knee highs and don't like the fabric ones, want gorgeous leather ones, preferably brown. Help me please!

go to duoboots.co.uk

lush boots and they fit big calves. Have two pairs and very comfy too. Phone them for help with the size though

GoingQuietlyMad · 18/10/2006 21:28

Try M&S Autograph. They do a brown pair with elastic sides which should fit any calves.

I say this having tried every pair on in the shop, and these were quite big on even my XXXL calves.

I bought them but took them back the next day because hubby didn't like them...

or you could have ridiculously skinny legs like me and then they all look like wellies and you never get any to fit

GoingQuietlyMad · 18/10/2006 21:33

Pitying looks trying on knee high boots. God I have been there and worn the T-shirt.

Seriously, I had never found any before those I recommended.

At school (when I was a size 10), I heard laughing in the bus queue then someone shouted - "Look at those calves, they are like Mike Tyson's".

HorrorMatopoeia · 18/10/2006 21:34

I have this everytime I want a pair of lush knee highs, one shop assistant actually told me to try hooking a coat hanger through the zip and pulling !! I got my new pair from Evans, they're great!

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 21:34

cece · 18/10/2006 21:37

yes I believe they have a shop there. If you sign up for their newsletter they are having roadshows in various places throughout the year too.

cece · 18/10/2006 21:38

mosschops30

I think duo might do thinner ones too as they have a large range of calf sizes...

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 21:39

LOL at the idea of fat calves 'roadshows' Cece... Like Radio 1 roadshows in olden days with Wham etc and everyone wearing big boots...

3sEnough · 18/10/2006 21:43

Oh - I just can't spell tonight - for ene read even and for claves read calves!

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 21:46

I had this problem and the assistant told me to do this;

Sort of ruch the boot around your ankle doing zip up before you pull it up your leg, when zip is nearly done up slide it up your leg. It really works.

I didn't wear high boots for years because of my calves, but now can get into most by doing it this way.

foxinsocks · 18/10/2006 22:08

I have rather large calves and found some in Clarks and some in M&S that fit. They are the sort of softer leather type that I think is a bit more forgiving!

overdraft · 18/10/2006 22:09

Evans do nice boots for a wide fit
