Goddamn knee high boots won't go over fat calves...

The calves on my leg, not in the field, obviously. Hang my head in shame. I really really want knee highs and don't like the fabric ones, want gorgeous leather ones, preferably brown. Help me please!

Yes, fab idea, someone mentioned Evans before - hadn't thought of there - just tend to go in there to se if they don't have my size and feel slim... Obviously I'm easily in Evans' range but hey they don't need to know!

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 22:14

WitchICouldGiveUpWork · 18/10/2006 22:18

I think Duo boots look great-trouble is I have feet like a duck-fan shaped (well bllody wide anyway). Why do't they do wide fitting, big calfed boots? Their shoes come in different widths

lipsbite · 18/10/2006 22:19

Sophie - what size are you?

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 22:20

Agree that is annoying. I also have quite wide feet but usually cram mine into whatever I can find!

next do some wide fitting boots that are wide calf fit aswell as foot.

lipsbite · 18/10/2006 22:23

ive got a size 7 Next honey soft brown knee leather point toes boots with a kitten heel for sale that never been worn. Do u know what calf measurement are you?

hester · 18/10/2006 22:23

Duo are now opening a London shop - 25 Savile Row W1 - where they will do fittings and you can try on the styles. They then post your boots to your home. Shop opens 27 October.

It sounds like I'm paid by their marketing dept, doesn't it . I'm not, honestly, but i just got an email from them this very evening.

popsycal · 18/10/2006 22:23

fern was takling about some boots that can be mmade to order with no extra charge for chaning the size of the calf width....no idea what they are though

popsycal · 18/10/2006 22:24

actually it could be duo as someone mentioned already

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 18/10/2006 22:26

YOu could also investigate Plus In Boots for wide fitting ones.

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 22:28

Sorry lipsbite don't know my calf measurement... will get a tape measure tomorrow and post if I can! Thanks.

And I saw an advert for Emotion shoes and boots that apparently do wide fittings.

lipsbite · 18/10/2006 22:32

ok heres the the third one down

Walnutshell · 18/10/2006 22:32

Tip from my boss (about a dress size 16+, shoe size 5, very stylish dresser): just buy the g*d-damn things and keep wearing them at home and bit by bit the zip will gradually do up... Obviously this applies to leather boots. It really does work, I didn't know I could wear 'em until she told me her secret! I am a smaller dress size but still struggled with the old calves
PS shop assistants, grr, if intimidated just buy em and play at home

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 22:34

Ooohh they look gorgeous! Will definitely measure tomorrow...

Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 22:35

LOL the idea of buying shop assistants and playing with them at home!

OP posts:
Walnutshell · 18/10/2006 22:43

Hah! Yes, PLAY WITH THEM in an evil and torturous fashion! C'mere leetle shoppe assistant...

Another vote for Duo, pure comfort I live in mine

lipsbite · 18/10/2006 22:53

the only problem i find with Evans is that they are too big as my calves are 16ins as got big solid legs sp im in between the normal boots and the big boots - so its harder for me to find them.

scatterbrain · 18/10/2006 22:55

Me too Sophie !! Last year I got a pair from Simply Be - they are lovely leather and kitten heel - only cost about £69. Got lots of compliments on them. last week I bought the Autograph M&S ones mentioned below ! Also fab !

FWIW I have tried and tried to stretch boots by wearing them in - and by zipping them down and then hoisting up over calf - but have had very limited success !
