Still going strong as we head into 2015. Not a chance I can beat the vol 50 intro from the lovely Dry so I won't even try. Lots of newbies have joined the fun, why don't you? Come tell us your sales splurges. All welcome for fun fashion chat.

I've washed my merino Tippis a few times now on a cool wool cycle with a special wool detergent and they have come out fine.

GeorginaWorsley · 04/01/2015 23:22

Thank you linus
Will order and see.

Fedupnagging · 05/01/2015 08:44

Morning all, I guess this may be miserable Monday when everything gets back to normal. Ds3 and I still have one more day to go though.

I remember Benetton rugby shirts - I saved up for one when I was about 16, loved it.

Dry you sounded like a very well dressed young lady. We had a lot of holidays in France when the dc's were young and I used to buy a lot of their clothes when we were there - and I could get away with choosing their clothes for them!

Glad the party went well Lib. I second what others have said, all they want is loads of crisps and sugar and to make a noise!

Have been looking at the Helmsley and Ella recipes - pretty sure my family of meat eaters and veg haters will turn their noses up Sad but will see what I can get away with! Am definitely going to make my own granola though.

Stokey · 05/01/2015 09:23

I've PMed you Novice, definitely interested in the jumper if no one else is, I think I'd be an XS or 8 in Jaeger.

Hope your boots arrive Fedup. Mine came on Saturday morning. I think I will keep them. I'm struggling with that work vs SAHM dilemma, in that they'd be perfect for work but I'm not working at the moment. Still hope to find something I'm the next couple of months and could wear them for casual too.

QueenCardigan · 05/01/2015 09:33

That jumper looks perfect for me novice and have just texted you but it looks like stokey beat me to it.

I never had a Benetton rugby shirt but I remember the posh girls at 6th form wearing them and t he polo shirts under sweatshirts for that preppy vibe. I was more of a hippy chick with long flowing Laura Ashley skirts, cheesecloth blouses, cardigans, beads and docs.

I'm quite excited by the 70s trend as I love the cheesecloth type blouses and will definitely dig my flared jeans out. I'd be interested to try culottes too as they'd be practical in the summer chasing kids.

Has anyone booked their summer holiday yet? I found one 2 days ago but dh was deliberating and now the flights have increased by £200 Angry. Any recommendations for villas in Majorca?

AmberNectarine · 05/01/2015 09:50

Washed mine the other day and shrank the bastard Georgina - bit of a sore point. My fault for putting it on a normal 30 though.

AmberNectarine · 05/01/2015 09:52

On the subject of 70s, I bought some cropped flares by MiH the other day which I wore with a black skinny polo neck, black strappy flats and a cropped fur jacket with a big collar. Sounds awful but was kind of like an updated 70s look and felt cool and contemporary.

shopafrolic · 05/01/2015 09:58

QueenC go back onto the flight website using a different computer or delete your cookies first and see if that makes a difference.
Travel companies often put prices up when they can see you looked at that flight or holiday previously to encourage you to book. Worth a try......
Morning all!

Have been bingeing on The Good Wife recently and am developing a bit of an Alicia Florrick style crush. Is that wrong, I wonder? Not ideal given that I no longer work in that sort of corporate environment (my God she has some good work outfits), but liking the groomed hair and make-up. So not what I pull off on a daily basis….. Sorry - slightly random stream of consciousness there!

Oh - and Amber and anyone else who is sporting a cropped trouser (bistro or otherwise), do you just go bare ankle and endure the pain? I can't face that in this weather no matter how good the look.

Cranagh · 05/01/2015 10:18

I shrank my cashmere tippi last year machine washing it, Georgina but the merino one this year has cold machine washed fine.

Was a big Benetton fan as a teenager too. And Naf Naf. And like 70s flares for summer.

Yes, QueenC deleting the cookies sometimes works.

Glad LittleLiberty enjoyed her party! My DDs spend most of the year planning theirs.

Wishlist atm (but always changing) is 50/50s, navy parka or trench, Anya Hindmarch small navy cross-body bag (birthday next month Smile).

Cranagh · 05/01/2015 10:20

Alsoflamingo, I love the Good Wife and Alicia's look, am a sahm atm so can't really work it sadly!

libertychick · 05/01/2015 10:41

I haven't watched the Good Wife in ages but YY to Alicia's look. Love it. My work environment isn't really corporate enough for it though.

I'll do a wishlist after the colour and style analysis on Saturday.

BTW I didn't mean to sound arsey about people doing big birthday parties for DC - I was just worried that my DD and her friends would feel let down by the small party we had after such a fantastic party the previous day Blush. You would think by this stage in my life I would be over being so bloody insecure.

Fedupnagging · 05/01/2015 10:48

I didn't know about deleting cookies etc - will definitely do that when we finally make a decision about our holiday. Also, thanks Shop for the film link, it was interesting and then I spent ages looking at other films.

Also I wore crops out and about bare ankled until about end of October. I am still wearing them however if am out in the evening - party, meal etc.

I am forever shrinking delicates. In the last month have shrunk a merino jumper and silk shirt. Rarely do I purchase 100% cashmere/merino etc for this reason. Am currently contemplating hand washing another silk shirt - surely cold water will be ok?

sleepwhenidie · 05/01/2015 10:55

DH and I are living the Good Wife ATM too, very easy viewing. Love Alicia's office look and love Alan Cumming!

Bit of a bad return home last night, found we've been burgled. Think they got scared off by the alarm or something so not too much gone - main thing my desktop Mac :-( but horrible anyway. And the hassle of two insurance claims as buildings and contents are separate...

Alsoflamingo · 05/01/2015 11:06

Oh my God Sleepwhen - that is horrendous. You poor poor thing. Not just the things you lost, but the idea of those bastards invading your space Flowers. Plus the hellish admin - just what you don't need. Really feel for you.

Also LOVE Alan Cumming (my God he plays a straight American Jew well!!).

libertychick · 05/01/2015 11:22

That's really horrible Sleep. Flowers for you. Our neighbours (2 doors down) were burgled recently which has freaked us out a bit. It is the thought of other people in your space as Also says. Hope the insurance isn't too difficult to sort out.

OneLittleLady · 05/01/2015 11:23

oh no,how horrible sleep hope you are all okay Sad Thanks

Cranagh · 05/01/2015 12:31

That's horrible, Sleep.

LinusDKD · 05/01/2015 12:33

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that sleep Flowers

bettykt · 05/01/2015 13:00

Sleep that's horrendous Flowers hope they haven't taken anything too personal.

Georgina I hand wash my Tippi I don't trust my machine. Dh shrank my MaxMara polo neck sweater in the machine, grr, it would fit a doll now Sad he's now been banned from touching any of my washing.

Amber your outfit so sounds cool, is there a pic of it on your blog?

Also I've been wearing bistro crops this winter but I literally go from car to work and back into car again. I've now bought the non crop trouser version so I can have warm ankles at last.

wfh today, we all woke up at 8am arghh bit of a school run rush this morning, so typical!

QueenCardigan · 05/01/2015 13:03

sleep hugs for you. Utter bastards.
shop that's intetesting re cookies etc. will look on dh iPad as I don't know how to delete cookies
also I often wear cropped trousers to go out in and will wear popsox rather than suffer with the cold. Either black fishnet (look better than they sound, honest) or nude.
cranagh my dd is planning her party already and that's in October!

Just had the morning with big dd as she has an inset day. We wandered round John Lewis and both bought a dress. Will see if I can find to link....

QueenCardigan · 05/01/2015 13:06

It's this one. I really like it but I'm not sure if its too big. I couldn't really try properly with both of us in the changing room so it may be returned unless I can get it altered.

Stokey · 05/01/2015 13:16

Oh Sleep what a nightmare, hope you didn't lose much on your Mac.

I think you should try Novice's jumper QueenC, I'm not sure about the lace on the sleeves but I know you're a big lace fan! if it doesn't fit, pass it on.

Love the colour of that dress.

shopafrolic · 05/01/2015 13:27

Sleep really sorry to hear that - as you know we were victims of quite a bad burglary a few year's back. It's just horrid. Flowers Flowers Flowers
