Christmas Day outfit. Can I ask what you're going to wear?

I need inspiration. Feel like I have nothing to wear for Christmas day and its my birthday too. Ideally wanted some kind of full skirted dress like taylor swift wears but mainly just want to look good :)

Xmas Smile

I was going to wear a sequin dress but it's quite fitted so thinking it could look hideous after gorging all day so most likely black skinny jeans with maroon long sleeved chiffon blouse (vest top under), big statement necklace & high shoe boots. I love getting dressed up for Christmas Grin

No idea. Probably jeans and a jumper, or a jumper dress. It's just us here and we don't get dressed up (although I do have a v nice dress that I want to get more wear out of!).

CMOTDibbler · 23/12/2014 11:07

Pyjamas, then my cycling stuff. Its just me, dh, and ds and as ds is getting a new bike, he's determined we'll be riding on christmas day

ElizabethHoover · 23/12/2014 12:05

Mmm. Hadley Freeman pretending that she doesn't care about clothes. Right. I believe her.

ElizabethHoover · 23/12/2014 12:12

on xmas day - fo sho

flux500 · 23/12/2014 12:41

I would actually be ok with the pajamas but I have lots of people coming over and lots of photos will be taken too.

I will go shopping today and see of anything looks ok.

Thanks!

I'll be wearing either

this green velvet dress with black opaques, heels and a massive blingy necklace

or

[[http://www.tarastarlet.com/collections/skirts/products/the-marina-skirt-green this green 50's style skirt with a black Bardot top and heels.

Need to decide!

OHolyShite · 23/12/2014 12:49

proper skirt link

EhricJinglingHisBallsOnHigh · 23/12/2014 12:53

I'll be wearing a green 40s style dress which is v flattering but only with control underwear so I reckon half way through the day I will change into jeggings and a comfy dress!

flux500 · 23/12/2014 12:58

oholy really like those! :)

Camel cashmere dress with snakeprint belt and velvet heels. For the evening meal, I haven't decided yet.

Khalessi · 23/12/2014 14:28

My favourite Asos jeans and a h&m batwing grey jumper. No dressing up here, it's presents, church and just my dh and our 3 children.

ElizabethHoover · 23/12/2014 14:36

people in cashmere dresses and heels - do you do something amazingly chic all day? Or just cook a roast meal and sit on your sofa.

I. Just. Don't. Get. It

TheFairyCaravan · 23/12/2014 14:38

This jumper. It's quite sparkly so probably won't get many outings!

I've got a floral skater skirt or one of many tube skirts that I'll wear with it.

willowisp · 23/12/2014 14:54

I've got a nice (& 1/2 price too !) black knitted dress from Coast. Bit of sparkly round the neck, some black opaque tights & a bit of make up job done.

I think I'll be able to slob on the sofa quite easily after lunch too !

If not, the jeggings & jumper will go on Wink

HomeyIDrankTheBeer · 23/12/2014 14:58

Surely all those dressing up cant be doing any of the actual nitty gritty cooking? Xmas Shock and if you are your lovely outfit should be covered by an apron? Am I the only person who seems to acquire vegetable water splashes, turkey/beef juice, roast potato fat splatters etc... chewed up vegetables the youngest has returned to me as unwanted or do you cook and then have time to change and look amazing by the time dinner is served? Xmas Hmm

furcoatbigknickers · 23/12/2014 15:08

Hoping I feel better by then, if so probably a Biba black dress with kitten heels.

Storytown · 23/12/2014 15:12

I think I will probably wear last year's Office Party dress, which is short and sparkly but has long sleeves. With Opaques and slippers. I'm not wearing heels in my own house all day. And a pinny when I'm in the kitchen. I love that word. Pinny.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2014 15:13

Do the people in nice dresses just perform a decorative function all day? There's no way I'd cook in something 'nice'.

bloodyteenagers · 23/12/2014 15:13

Pj's. And we have company. Company know if they have a problem with us in pj's all day they can fuck off and stay at home.
But they don't. They find it a relieve that you can come and slob around all day.
And yes, before anyone asks, everyone showers and puts on clean pj's/onsies/loungewear

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2014 15:13

And wearing heels indoors is bonkers, I think. Confused I'll be in my slippers!

AMerryScot · 23/12/2014 15:14

Smart black trousers and my Christmas jumper for going to church. At home, I will ditch the jumper and just have a black vest top (I have my own microclimate).

SquidgyMummy · 23/12/2014 15:19

pyjamas till late morning, then shower, comfy jeans and nice jumper to fit in lunch, and if i'm really struggling tracksuit bottoms by teatime!
Slippers all day, and if DP forces us out for a walk, wellies.

I will however put a bit of slap on.
