Christmas Day outfit. Can I ask what you're going to wear?

I need inspiration. Feel like I have nothing to wear for Christmas day and its my birthday too. Ideally wanted some kind of full skirted dress like taylor swift wears but mainly just want to look good :)

Xmas Smile

I'm wearing THIS
So flattering!
I went through so many before I got one I liked for Christmas day.
Poor ASOS has to deal with so many returns.

TheFourthLobster · 23/12/2014 15:22

jeans and a t-shirt, maybe a christmas jumper if I get round to getting it dry.

Dolallytats · 23/12/2014 15:38

Another one in PJ's here.....but no slippers, I hate having anything on my feet when I'm indoors!!

juneybean · 23/12/2014 15:44

A navy lace swing dress with a red long sleeved bolero and black tights (and a Santa hat!)

Trumpton · 23/12/2014 15:54

This Masai dress with a black beaded cardi . Black opaque tights. Lovely and comfy .

Jeans, white shirt, plum waterfall cardigan. I haven't decided on shoes or boots.

Apophenia · 23/12/2014 16:04

Tartan Lindybop dress and black cardigan. Smile

I have stumbled on a label that I really like and for the first time in my life they fit right and look right.
I'm wearing an Izabell dress, which one I'm not sure yet, as I bought 3 Xmas Grin They are really reasonably priced too.

MizK · 23/12/2014 16:07

Skinny black jeans and a high neck black lace top with fancy earrings.

I couldn't bear cooking and serving a beautiful dinner while wearing pyjamas personally, so to each their own! I do leave the house in the morning to see extended family and everyone makes an effort. It's no more difficult to wear a nice outfit than to wear a sloppy one, surely. Just a matter of preference.

Greengardenpixie · 23/12/2014 16:08

Im doing the cooking so something basic! Might put on my sparkly jumper and vevet widelegs or sparkly leggings and blak tunic. Something nice snd easy.

willowisp · 23/12/2014 16:31

To the naysayers, I won't be wearing my normal scarf which usually teeters just above the hob flame, neither will I have long sleeves gathering grime.

In fact DH will mostly be cooking so no worries for me at all

Yes, feet with be slipper shod...by reasonably dainty slippers ie no slipper boots or gigantic trotter like ensembles.

It's all designed around comfort Grin

Any ideas for me? I am breastfeeding and 1.5 stone heavier than normal (4 week old) - anything nice that fits is not bf friendly and I have to go to the pub for midday pint. Any genius ideas?

flux500 · 23/12/2014 16:55

Thanks everyone. Got lots of good ideas. My boyfriend wants me to wear a Christmas jumper and skinny jeans and bare feet (he has a thing for feet) but I have just found a short long sleeved silk french connection dress I haven't worn for ages. I'm thinking that with black tights. Or also have a full length Karen Millen dress but it's tight around the boobs. I'm actually swaying towards the Christmas jumper lol! I'll look a bit like a that woman from whams last Christmas video albeit with blonde hair! :)

For the last couple of years i've worn a Topshop black velvet midi dress (with bare feet) - bit stretchy, so room for dinner, but washable too, so no worries if I spill stuff. For me, dressing up is part of Christmas Smile

flux500 · 23/12/2014 19:50

cashmere the dress sounds lovely and like the fact that it is longer so can still have bare feet :)

A black cocktail dress and a tiara. And yes, I will be cooking in it. No tights or sleeves as I'll get too hot. Minimal makeup as I think the tiara will be enough... Grin

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 23/12/2014 20:08

Thing is, people take loads of photos. Plus it is an excuse to get a bit dolled up. But comfort and something you don't mind crawling around after kids in, or getting splashed with food, also important, and plenty room for dinner too Grin

I tend to go with a loose dress with a festive / dressy feel but cheap - opaques and fluffy slipper boots. I have a fine knitted navy jumper dress this year (www.mamasandpapas.com/product-midnight-knitted-dress/s0012915/type-s/ this one]] yes I'm a bit pregnant) I want a blingy necklace to wear with it as it's a bit plain. Oh I need to bung my slipper boots in the wash actually.

Hmm... well, I have a choice. Either black skinny jeans with my new Boden Eliza Embellished top, or a black and white lace dress from Mango. Whatever I don't wear on Christmas Day I shall wear on Boxing Day, which I'm not hosting.

And I won't get covered in turkey fat and sprout juice. I'll do most of the prep before I put the posh togs on. 13 people for lunch, so I will certainly NOT be wearing PJs.

I am cooking on Christmas day so will be dressy but washable & cheap. http://m.asos.com/mt/www.asos.com/asos/asos-midi-dress-with-dipped-hem-and-full-skirt/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4498645&clr=Red&SearchQuery=Red+dipped+hem+dress&un_jtt_v_frompage=0&pge=1&pgesize=50&totalstyle=3 Option 1 arrived this evening. Haven't tried it on yet. If it doesn't suit me then Option 2 would be: http://pinterest.com/pin/A-iNWAAQgL0FxjqWMRkAAAA/ this . I made a sequin maxi skirt last year in a dark/antique gold colour & have never worn it so I quite fancy swishing around in it with a cashmere roll neck. I don't care that it's just the 4 of us; I love the excuse to dress up.

For Boxing Day http://m.asos.com/mt/www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Jumper-With-Oh-La-La-Print/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4665127&un_jtt_application_platform=newPlp&un_jtt_redirect I have this possibly to wear with black pleather skinnies.

Ujjayi · 24/12/2014 00:42
