ASOS - any experiences?

Okay I'm panicking slightly. It's ds2's christening on Sunday and after a disastrous shopping trip last week in which I could find nothing to wear in the shops I ordered a dress from ASOS. Never used them before but in my relief in finding something vaguely suitable to wear (and that I would feasibly wear again) I stupidly opted for standard delivery.

It's due by Friday but it's still showing order processing rather than dispatched. I was going to order it again but express delivery (and return one) but of course now it's sold out and sold out elsewhere. I'm becoming slightly obsessed with checking the website.

So wise mn are ASOS usually reliable? Should I start going in to full panic mode???? I'm not even thinking about the fact it might not fit or look awful (head in sand)

I have found them to be spot on compared to other companies.

CurlsLDN · 09/12/2014 06:46

Always find them v speedy and incredibly reliable. Also if (heaven forbid) you do need to return it, their returns process is easy and refunds are quick

TheMasterNotMargarita · 09/12/2014 06:46

I use Asos all the time and they are normally pretty good. Might be different at this time of year though.
At least if the dress arrives and it isnt great they have free returns (trying to look on the bright side).
Is there nothing else similar - you could order a couple of things and do express delivery then return them?

colleysmill · 09/12/2014 07:15

Thank you for the replies! I have to say finding something similar fills me with dread (I'm never the happiest shopper in the world at the best of times) and it took 3 1/2 hours to find the one I did but it's probably sensible.

At least normally the y are reliable - it gives me hope!!

I use them all the time. Very quick and really reliable. Usually show as despatched then come the next day i find. Really quick refunds as well.

colleysmill · 09/12/2014 07:36

All the usually reliable stories are very reassuring! Every time my phone tings for an email I'm like a cat on hot bricks but so far it's just a company I used once that seem to be emailing me every half hour.

Asos are great! Their 'follow your parcel' link is usually down but the deliver and returns are easy and efficient. Only one problem I've had, I ordered a dress then changed my mind but thought I'd just send it back. It never arrived, I waited for a few days then got an email telling me that their system had gone down and my order was lost so here was a 20% voucher off anything Grin

In about 6 years with them that's been the only problem. The app works great too.

colleysmill · 09/12/2014 07:50

HellKitty the system is categorically not allowed to go down otherwise I will be going in Christmas jumper and jeans on Sunday!!!

OP posts:
HellKitty · 09/12/2014 08:02

That was a one off! And the 20% came in VERY handy for DPs chrimbo trainers Wink

chocismydrug · 09/12/2014 08:06

Asos ship with Hermes and Hermes is crap; they recently lost an order and it took Hermes a few days to find my package again.

HellKitty · 09/12/2014 08:15

Argh! My Hermes drivers are great! The woman who seems to deliver all my asos stuff was busy gossiping to me about what a bitch my neighbour is - she is!

my asos orders have always arrived by the estimated delivery date. i too ordered something last week and its due this friday was kind of disappointed that the delivery was so far out usually its only 3 days. but i dont need it in a hurry.

i hope yours arrives, and that it fits and that you look fab.

kitkat1967 · 09/12/2014 10:43

they have an issue following Black Friday. Anything on standard delivery - which they say is up to 6 days - is now 12 days delivery.

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 09/12/2014 10:46

Can you call them and upgrade your order to express?

Greysanderson · 09/12/2014 11:26

I've always had my orders by the expected delivery date - I find them really good. They process returns quickly too. The one problem I had was when after a few weeks something wasn't wearing as well as you'd expect - I found it quite difficult navigating the app to get in touch - it had a number of default settings I could choose from but none of them were quite right for my particular scenario. Anyway, when I finally made contact, they were very good.

I'd bet you'll have your dress on time.

colleysmill · 09/12/2014 11:38

I think I'm going to phone them - wouldn't normally bother but because it's a special occasion I'm not going to take any chances!

Asos is fab, I sometimes find the order processing bit is the longest and quite often once it says dispatched it arrives the next day!

colleysmill · 09/12/2014 11:56

If I can find a number for them.

hotbutteredcrumpet · 09/12/2014 11:58

Normally v reliable and speedy delivery but there is definitely a delay at the moment no doubt due to Christmas and all the recent discount codes.

TheFairyCaravan · 09/12/2014 12:01

ASOS is great. I buy loads from there for me and the kids. I've never had a parcel not turn up or turn up late.

CheeseBuster · 09/12/2014 12:09

They are really good. Once something is dispatched it is normally delivered the next day so I wouldn't worry about it not being dispatched. Their courier company texts you in the morning and gives you an hours slot when it will be delivered and mine are always dead one which is great as you don't have to sit at home all day.

I actually got the premier thing so I have unlimited next day delivery and also they collect returns from my house which is so easy.

colleysmill · 09/12/2014 13:05

Right can't change delivery option so I've gone for my second choice dress and opted for delivery on Thursday so worst case scenario I still have something to wear!

OP posts:
colleysmill · 09/12/2014 13:06

I still prefer my first choice but hey second choice is nice too (if more expensive!)
