ASOS - any experiences?

Okay I'm panicking slightly. It's ds2's christening on Sunday and after a disastrous shopping trip last week in which I could find nothing to wear in the shops I ordered a dress from ASOS. Never used them before but in my relief in finding something vaguely suitable to wear (and that I would feasibly wear again) I stupidly opted for standard delivery.

It's due by Friday but it's still showing order processing rather than dispatched. I was going to order it again but express delivery (and return one) but of course now it's sold out and sold out elsewhere. I'm becoming slightly obsessed with checking the website.

So wise mn are ASOS usually reliable? Should I start going in to full panic mode???? I'm not even thinking about the fact it might not fit or look awful (head in sand)

Returns are great if 1st choice comes first! Just be careful opening the bag as you send it back in it and tick the options - too big, too small, didn't like etc. They text to let you know the money is back in your bank too.

TarkaTheOtter · 09/12/2014 14:14

They are good with returns but I find the quality incredibly variable. I've had some terribly poor quality items (like a dress with no actual thread in the stitches in the seams down each side) and some great bargains. I've even bought an amazing pair of maternity jeans which were a great fit, bought the same style and size in a different colour and they were completely different shape. I'd still use them though as in each case they refunded without a quibble.

LoathsomeDrab · 09/12/2014 14:18

Usually they're very good however I ordered a couple of things recently that weren't dispatched for a week. Once they were dispatched they did arrive very quickly (I got them the next day), I'm presuming it's because of the time of year that it took so long to process the order.

SuperDuperJezebel · 09/12/2014 14:24

Agree, usually fab, at the moment super slow! Placed orders last week on Tues and Wednesday, Tuesday one was only just despatched today. I tweeted them yest and their feed was full of apologies and reassurances for slow delivery.

colleysmill · 10/12/2014 07:22

super just out of interest what was the estimated delivery date you were given? I've not given up hope just yet!!

Oh check I've just been on their fb site and its filled with complaints about slow service at the moment :( But I guess they are a huge world wide company and some one somewhere must be getting their orders - hopefully

HellKitty · 10/12/2014 12:58

Oh no! Don't let this put you off them in the future though Shock

goodasitgets · 10/12/2014 13:27

Usually great, went a bit slow around Black Friday. Mine said processing for longer than normal but turned up fine Smile
I was panicking I wouldn't get it after looking on their FB page

colleysmill · 10/12/2014 14:47

Ah more positive stories :) I'm keeping everything crossed that one of the two turns up!

I'm not going to help the situation here but I ordered 2 tops from asos on Nov 28 with delivery on or before Dec 8 and they are still not showing up as dispatched yet. I emailed them on Monday and was abruptly told they will hopefully be here by the 20th the frigging TWENTIETH!!

colleysmill · 10/12/2014 16:54

Nooooooooo

Hopefully the more expensive delivery dress will arrive tomorrow

Honestly, pay the £10 and sign up for premier. Gives you next day delivery all year. I ordered a pair of jeans yesterday that arrived this morning. Best £10 I've ever spent.

LittleG69 · 10/12/2014 17:42

I've got to agree with CockBollocks about ASOS Premier. Unlimited free next day delivery (with DPD) and you often get 20% and 30% off codes. I had a delivery turn up on Sunday when it should have been Saturday as I'm a premier member and they gave me a 10% off code

KarenHillavoidJimmyswarehouse · 10/12/2014 20:19

Ooooooh I didn't know about the £10 thing!

Just thinking, I ordered some stuff in"cyber Monday" and I got it on Saturday. Don't know if that helps?

Siarie · 10/12/2014 20:25

I have their VIP prem delivery its under £10 a year for next day delivery unlimited. I use them alllllll the time, mostly when I see something I need fast. Or sales, I buy loads then try it on and they are great. Next day comes next day with tracking (an hour time slot and real time map). You can also text the driver to say change the date or leave with neighbour.

Returns wise they are good, everything you need to return items comes with. I often send my DH off to work with a return (takes them to a collect plus location) but post office whichever is easier for you.

Really great.

colleysmill · 10/12/2014 20:32

My one ordered item that I paid for nominated day delivery is still showing order processing and it should be coming tomorrow.

Argh I can see a panic shop happening on Saturday if neither dress arrives. Come on asos I need you to come through for me! I may have just jinxed myself though - I had a lovely large bowl of gorgeous carb loaded pasta for dinner - guaranteed to make me a bit bloated and therefore nothing ordered fit!

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 10/12/2014 22:09

I ordered some stuff on 28th Nov and was given a delivery date of Monday 8th Dec which was a lot slower than usual. It didn't arrive till today. But the dispatch email was only sent after midnight last night so you could still get it soon even though it's still showing as processing.

colleysmill · 10/12/2014 22:52

HURRAY! Just seen parcel no2 has been dispatched and apparently all set to arrive tomorrow!! (the pasta jinx definitely worked Wink)

Greengardenpixie · 11/12/2014 00:32

I ordered a pair of leggings a week ago and they are still processing. Have ordered things before and received super quick. A bit relieved to see I am not alone.

Samantha28 · 11/12/2014 02:48

I also ordered items on 28 November and was given a delivery date of 8 December. They arrived on 9 December

AnnyMummy · 11/12/2014 16:04

@colleysmill: did the clothes you ordered first arrive finally?

colleysmill · 11/12/2014 17:03

Good news! Dress no 2 has now arrived and is in my possession and dress no 1 is now saying dispatched and due to arrive tomorrow!!

So I may now have the dilemma of which one to wear (assuming both fit) I may be back to upload photos for the famous s&b verdict!

OP posts:
colleysmill · 11/12/2014 17:06

I am mega relieved I didn't fancy a panic shop because I always end up with a "that'll do" outfit and not something I've actively chosen.

This has been my first ever thread on style and beauty despite being on mn for years so thank you to everyone :)

They always seem great to me.Sometimes they pop snacks in the bag too. What more can you ask for.
