I think we do need some kind of signal we can all use dry just a certain way of nodding or something Grin

I still don't feel quite 'right' I'm not sure if the rib issue is causing the issue or if I'm still not over the chest infection. I think I will make a doctors appointment, I don't think it can hurt for me to be checked over, especially as if I'm not over the chest infection fully, the cracked rib could complicate matters

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2014 22:16

A Vogue t perhaps!

Hey What I was working on my mac at the time so was easier, but maybe it's a good thing to miss if it goes back!

I only wear a watch, wedding and engagement rings daily. Not much at all. And yes I think you can with your hair, it's more condition than anything.

Santa true will see what it's like on, love the skirt, work sounds exciting.

BrandyAlexander · 05/12/2014 22:21

You're all so funny....

I actually quite fancy something from Hermes from Christmas!Grin

Hello What! I have a lot of bling but keep it simple-ish. I usually wear cocktail ring, watch, bracelet and necklace. Sounds a lot but each one is a simple piece. If I wear something ostentatious, then it's the only piece that's like that.

Shop, you and Marsha have legs to die for.Envy

Stokey · 05/12/2014 22:28

That Marni skirt is amazing Santa Envy

I quite like the Erdem jumper Marsha but give it a go and see

I have a daily necklace Whattowear that's a Thomas Sabo one with different pendants, a watch, engagement & wedding ring & watch. I don't tend to wear bracelets much.
I turned 40 this year and have shoulder length hair, hopefully rocking a Claudia sans fringe look!

Enjoy your weekends away QueenC, Mara & Liberty, adore Edinburgh

kid's water bottle emptied itself in my today, luckily the Le pliage rather than anything posh, but my poor phone is now sitting on the radiator in a bowl of rice... I really want to try it again but think I shoould leave it overnight.

DryWhiteplease · 05/12/2014 22:36

What daily jewellery :

Wedding and engagement ring (left hand)
Eternity band and 3 stone diamond ring (right hand)
Pearl studs or little diamond pendants
Gold diamond studded sentimental bangle
Watch

Sometimes I add wrap bracelets and a statement necklace.

When I go out I'll use the bigger, more statement costume stuff.

Wow, I've never listed it before.

My NYR every year is to buy fewer quality, investment pieces. Tried this year, will try harder next.

And What there are plenty of beautiful women over 40 who have long hair. Go for it.

WhattoWearNow · 05/12/2014 22:40

Thanks for your replies - think I will keep with my jewellery as I do enjoy wearing it & think I will grow my hair a bit. Now if I could just find a way to make my legs grow 4 inches & for my laughter/frown lines to take a holiday......

WhattoWearNow · 05/12/2014 22:42

Dry - yes definitely to buying less but more investment pieces. Would love to upgrade my jewellery (& my body) hee hee

OneLittleLady · 05/12/2014 23:19

What I don't really wear any jewellery as simply put, I don't have much that isn't just costume stuff bought from topshop and the like. I have a couple of bracelets, 1 gold 1 silver, the silver one being from the 1970's, that were my Mums but I don't wear those as I'm scared of losing them and they can't be replaced, I've a couple of bits of VW costume jewellery, earrings and necklace (same designs for both but different colours) and a few pairs of pearl studs. Oh and I have a silver and amber ring I wear on the little finger of my right hand, the only piece of jewellery I wear every day. I've just never been bothered enough to buy 'nice' pieces for myself and up til now haven't had anyone to buy any for me though I have something on a sort of promise coming at some point!

Sleepwhenidie · 06/12/2014 08:22

Santa it probably was me , I was in that but for ages buying stocking fillers for the kids (no giant marshmallow kebabs this year, DD will be devastated Shock). Oh I wish you had said something!

DH and I went for a lovely dinner in a v v old pub with open fire and twinkly fairy lights last night. So nice. And I got to wear my Joseph full length shearling which is possibly my favourite thing ever in my wardrobe but clearly not practical year round Grin.

Whattowear my hair is quite long (about to chest) and I am almost 42, it hasn't occurred to me yet that I should cut it due to age Confused Smile I wear similar jewellery to Dry, wedding/engagement ring, a Cartier ring DH bought me for 40th, watch, diamond studs. A DoDo charm bracelet and diamond tennis bracelet. Only change I make is necklaces.

bettykt · 06/12/2014 08:31

I'm still lusting after Novice's stacking rings from the MU, such lovely colours. I've been looking for some. Re: jewellery I'm pretty simple in that I wear a diamond engagement ring, simple watch and some diamond earrings. I'll usually team with either a cuff or some stacking bracelets.

Liberty, Mara&QueenC hope you're all having a lovely relaxing chilled time away Envy

AmberNectarine · 06/12/2014 09:13

Day to day I only wear my wedding and engagement ring (both quite showy though). For night's out I will add one thing, be that a necklace, bracelet or earrings. Still, a parcel from Tiffany arrived this week (along with Jo Malone and J Crew) good man, DH) so I may have something new to add to my collection!

shopafrolic · 06/12/2014 09:33

Morning all! Sunny and freezing here. Sat on train to London for haircut and wedding shoe shopping with a friend. Wearing black Paige skinnies, Pistols, black Gap merino crew neck with black eyeliner and red lipstick. Have my huge Sportmax grey coat on. Perfect for the weather with it's knitted collar, nice and cosy.
In terms of daily jewellery, engagement ring, wedding ring and eternity ring and a YSL silver band on my left thumb. One of three watches and an antique diamond and gold ring on my right hand. Diamond studs and that's usually it.
Have a lovely day all.

Fedupnagging · 06/12/2014 10:43

Same weather here Shop - was beautiful walking the dog across the fields earlier. Enjoy your day.

Queen and MrQueen many congrats and have a lovely weekend. will we still get the Sunday am links?

Also, Lib and Mara, hope you have a good time too. Am impressed with the super organised packing.

Whattowear I am 48 and have shoulder length hair and no way will I go much shorter. (Am traumatised from having short back and sides as a child). I am thinking of getting it cut like Claudia's as love her hair style.

I did a BR order on Monday but it still hasn't arrived Sad. Was hoping to wear a new silk shirt last night but ended up wearing a navy fenn wright Manson blouse which has seen lots of wear but still looks good - but am getting fed up with it. Also wore j brands and my favourite shoes of the moment the sam edelman ollies.

Sleep your girls night menu sounded lovely. might pinch a couple of ideas

The Christmas tree has just been delivered so that is the next job of the day.

LinusDKD · 06/12/2014 10:58

Yay, we just bought our Christmas tree!

We have to wait until Saint Nicolas has 'visited' on 6th December (a tradition where I'm from) to buy our tree, so we went and got one this morning.

Will decorate it this afternoon, can't wait!

shopafrolic · 06/12/2014 11:03

My family in the Netherlands are all celebrating this weekend Linus
Lovely to get the tree up

santamarianovella · 06/12/2014 13:33

what my mother is in her mid 50s and her hair is long, past shoulder length, and its still shiny, and and in good condition, so no point in cutting, and it really suits her,

I wear my watch, bracelet, and stud earrings, I hardly wear my engagement ring as its a bit big now Shock,

We are decorating our tree tomorrow. spent most of the morning baking cookies, and now dcs are watching home alone, feel like taking a short nap, while everyone is glued to the tv, we are attending a formal dinner tonight ,and want to rest a bit before going to get my hair done.

OneLittleLady · 06/12/2014 14:06

I feel a bit brighter today, had a very long lay in as I think i needed to catch up on the sleep I've been missing all week

No purchases to report and todays outfit is made up a navy wool button through skirt, black fleece lined tights, a black catwoman tee and red cashmere cardi. It might not pass the stylish test but I like it, it's warm, it's comfy and I feel it shows my personality Smile

Oh, i forgot to say to What my Mum, before she became ill, had past shoulder length hair and it was beautiful, lots and lots of silver in it and beautiful ringlets at the ends. It looked lovely on her and I think many more mature ladies look beautiful with long hair, I think the idea that if you are older you have to cut it short is very out of date now

LinusDKD · 06/12/2014 17:26

Evening!

I was inspired by mom and bought a bottle of Saint-Germain elderflower liqueur for DH to make a drink with.

So we are having a G&T with Saint-Germain and it is yummy. and I need it after today

Fedupnagging · 06/12/2014 17:37

Hair update - my lovely hairdresser has managed to squeeze me in this week. It was this hair style I liked - Claudia's, not Tess's.

One glad you are feeling a bit better today.

Santa have a lovely evening.

Christmas tree and decorations are all up - it all looks lovely.

Small mishap on the light front though - brand new lights on tree, I might have cut through one of them when trimming a branch and some one now not working. Do I tell dh? I turned tree round a bit so he's noticed yet!

Awks · 06/12/2014 19:10

Evening all, haven't looked on here for yonks - been working in both London and Edinburgh this week so not quite sure if I'm Arthur or Martha.

Went to York today to meet a friend and it was like Armageddon. Came home v quick after looking in TopShop for that block colour fun fur coat which isn't on any shop floor I've been in recently, grrrr.

Re jewellery, watch, plain silver bangle, engagement ring and eternity ring (don't like my wedding ring) shallow and a hope and anchor necklace that I adore.

Awks · 06/12/2014 19:12

I'm 49 and my hair is dyed chestnut and just past shoulders. It's fine

LinusDKD · 06/12/2014 19:14

fedup that made me laugh! It actually sounds like something I might do.

I made kale for the first time today and it was delicious. Just blanched it and then mixed it with fried bacon bits. Yum! (The bacon probably cancels out any health benefits of the kale)

The kale went really well with the roast new potatoes (with rosemary, a Jamie Oliver recipe) and lamb fillet (bbq-ed by DH in the freezing cold on our gas bbq)

I am now munching on Nougat Noir (a kind of peanut brittle but made with almonds popular in Provence) that DH bought for me at a Christmas market.

Fedupnagging · 06/12/2014 19:43

Your dinner sounds delicious Linus as does the g&t earlier.

Dh did his usual - chilli con carne, but hey, it was yummy and I didn't cook it. Am about to open a dry reisling and watch scd.

In fashion news I am rocking pj's, spotty pink dressing gown and stripey slipper socks. Looking rough fabulous darlings!

It's very quiet on here tonight so guess everyone is out having fun Smile
