MarshaBrady · 04/12/2014 17:57

Happy anniversary QueenC, great stuff re the shoes.

Shop how was London?

shopafrolic · 04/12/2014 18:07

London was good - am back home now with a cup of tea and a box of Ladurée goodies. :)
DS has had a fab time - Disney store, pasta and meatballs for lunch (his favourite), Christmas lights, huge Christmas trees and he chose a Christmas bauble in Liberty. We headed home after that as he looked shattered and we wanted to avoid epic meltdown. I'm back there on Saturday anyway for haircut and wedding shoe shopping with a girlfriend.
The Outnet is still crashing Hmm

bettykt · 04/12/2014 18:55

Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs QueenC. Have a lovely weekend in Edinburgh.

Glad you and DS had a good day shop.

Have a lovely evening sleep. Love the sound of your food and drink.

Today I wore a black and cream Whistles skirt from the summer with a black cashmere crew-neck, black opaques and black leather and suede knee-high flat boots. I was being videoed at work and it is the first time that has happened that I didn't stress about what I was wearing (it will only be me and my line-manager who will see it). I haven't watched the footage yet.....last time it motivated me to get back on the 5:2! Though this is hardly the time of year for that...

Christmas jumper day tomorrow. I still haven't decided if I am keeping the Bah Humbug one that liberty linked. I do like it, but don't want people thinking that I am a misery!

LinusDKD · 04/12/2014 19:20

dry the pixi pants (I know they are trousers but J Crew call them pants) are very stretchy.

I got my NY pair (black, zip at the back) in a US4 but ordered my navy pair online (zip in the front and zips on the pockets) in a US2.

I am wearing the size 4 today and they fit well but the size 2 is just a bit more figure hugging in a good way.

I just ordered another Tippi merino jumper in grey as the blue one that was delivered today is sooo soft and there was another 40% off

Funny thing is that before losing weight I always went for cardigans or v-neck jumpers as crew necks made me look chunky. But this winter I have bought mainly crew necks.

For summer I will stick to v-neck tees though.

Glad you had a great day shop and well done Mr.Cardigan!

MarshaBrady · 04/12/2014 20:04

I am at work group type thing at a centre of town hotel. I was very good and stuck to the sparkling water as half hour early. A different scene to bed time routine!

shopafrolic · 04/12/2014 20:20

Enjoy Marsha
QueenC enjoy your celebrations. Glad you'll get the shoes in the end - Happy Anniversary
Just caught up on Liberty doc. nice to watch where we were instore today, and all the work that goes into it. Can't wait for the Fall later. Sleep will you stop dinner for it I so would

DryWhiteplease · 04/12/2014 21:09

linus I like a crew or boat neck.....small chested.....v necks make me look bony. shame my bum isn't. Actually higher necklines add width to my top half which is good. What I need is width of a crew neck and elongating of a v neck. Actually what I need are boobs and long legs, would be easy then Xmas Smile

ignore me Xmas Grin

Just watched The Darjeeling Limited with DH. Thanks for the recommendation santa, it is a brilliant film. DH even had tears in his eyes at the end but he's a big softie

I particularly liked that they mentioned in the credits that the luggage was made by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. Smile

And the song at the end, Les Champs Elysées by Joe Dassin, brought back so many memories of me going to French language camps in France when I was a teenager.

shopafrolic · 04/12/2014 21:20

I've been on this thread for years and I still have no idea what I'm supposed to wear to balance out what. What shape are you supposed to be aiming for? The last style day woman said I'm a pear shape, but a mild pear shape. No idea about where tops should finish on me, what style of jeans etc for me best. Should probably be kicked off thread! Am I making any sense?!

DryWhiteplease · 04/12/2014 21:38

Shop how on earth are you a pear? Pears have small tops, bigger bottom half. I'm a little pear Smile. You're tall, with legs and boobs.....athletic, you lucky woman.

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 04/12/2014 21:42

I agree dry no way shop is a pear!

I, on the other hand, am most likely a pear.

DryWhiteplease · 04/12/2014 21:46

My worst outfit would be a midi gathered skirt, with a chunky cable knit and brogues.....a lovely look on some, but I'd look like a squat Miss Marple and 2stone heavier Grin

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 04/12/2014 21:48

So WTF am I then?! And how should I be dressing!? Hips 39", bust 36", waist 30". Measured over clothes. Inside leg floor to groin 34". I am stuck in a skinny jeans and crew neck rut :( Think I'm struggling to get my head into Winter mode too. The only thing I'm confident with is my new lipstick choices ATM!

DryWhiteplease · 04/12/2014 21:51

Shop you wear fab clothes. They suit you. I hate clothes "rules" as you know. I think you look incredible in skinnies, ESP your leather ones.....perfect.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 04/12/2014 22:10

I just hear you all talking about things cutting you off at the wrong point etc and I have no idea what to look for in the mirror!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/12/2014 22:38

shop you need to do the style day Wink But seriously, I don't think it's something you can work out yourself except by trial and error. Last week one day I wore a jumper that reached to my hips and then the next day a cardigan that was shorter. I prefer jumpers to cardigans, but it was really obvious to me that the shorter one looked better. But then I'm short legged. And this hardly ever happens, I wish it did more often!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/12/2014 22:41

Wait... your inside leg is 34"?! Envy Mine is 27!!!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/12/2014 22:43

And I feel like I'm stuck in a rut a bit too, hence wanting some new work clothes. I think it's the end-of-season (fashion season, not actual season!) slump. I'm only thinking about party clothes but that's not productive or sustainable but more fun

DryWhiteplease · 04/12/2014 22:44

I bet you do know Shop, you know when you put a top on whether it looks right or not. It's all about proportion not only about what your figure is like.
Eg....if I'm wearing something high waisted (pencil skirt, wide legged trs, a line skirt) I like to wear a fitted top that stops just below my waist.
If I'm wearing a more fitted button, skinnies I guess, I prefer a looser top that covers my crotch, and skims more.
Does this make sense!
I have friends who look fab in skinnies and fitted, shorter tops though.
