Oh one, you poor thing, what a rubbish end to your lovely weekend. People can be such dicks. Hope the decs help you get into the festive spirit!

OneLittleLady · 01/12/2014 14:02

thanks Amber oh yes, people really can be dicks but nevermind, it could have been a lot worse than it was and I am very grateful to the people who sprang into action to help me when they realised I was in distress. Shame on those too selfish to move their bags though, shame on them indeed

I'm not letting it get to me though, Dbro and Dsis are coming back later to help me get decorations etc up as I can't go climbing to hang things so they will do those bits. It's definitely about time I started getting things wrapped though, I have bags and bags and bags full of stuff that needs wrapping and I haven't touched any of it yet! Everything's being done in brown paper with red ribbons and tags, like last year. ends up looking really rather nice if a bit simple. I just don't see the point in doing fancy wrapping for the children as they don't notice do they? grown ups get fancier ribbons etc though as they are old enough to appreciate the effort a bit more

AmberNectarine · 01/12/2014 14:25

Feel that pain - I have so much stuff that needs wrapping! Have finally bought paper and tape etc so will crack on with it tomorrow evening. DH is out so will break out some fizz and put an Xmas cd on!

OneLittleLady · 01/12/2014 14:44

i have about maybe 17-18 bags of stuff to wrap and I still have i think, 3 presents to buy but they can wait for a week or so as they can come with next day delivery. The pains of having a very large family!

AmberNectarine · 01/12/2014 15:08

Yikes, I just have two very spoiled children (one of whom has a December birthday) and DH and that feels like plenty!

OneLittleLady · 01/12/2014 15:09

Well, I've got 5 brothers and sisters, Ds, Dp, MIL, 2 SIL, 2 BIL and 8 nieces and nephews plus my two sisters birthday is a week before xmas day.

santamarianovella · 01/12/2014 15:42

one, that is awful! Hope the bruises go away, wow that is a lot of gifts!

I only send to my parents, pil,sil and her dcs,and just send small things like chocolates or small hampers to my other sil, friends ..etc,

sleep i just have the kitten ears headband,no catsuit, Grin, they cost less than €5, but they worked better than AP lingerie,

I talked with my trainer this morning about back excercise, and he told me,that push-ups, press ups, back workouts with weight(which I do most days) ,can really build that soft tissiuey area under your arm pit, hence the big back size on slim people, but unfortunately the cup size can never be increased ,unless you put on weight.

Dressing up as the Adam family is a fab idea! On Halloween ,we attended a party were the host family dressed up like the cast of marry poppins! They looked amazing anthe father did an amazing bert impersenation, getting all the kids with a cockney accent!

queen if getting a cleaner means less stress for you, then why not?

No big blingy x mas decoration here, I have a couple of wooden reindeers, and a big star ornament on display.

I've ordered this from J.crew, please ignore the hoodie part and just concentrate on the cashmere Wink I need something for when I'm at home, and don't want to wear my expensive ones all the time.

Sleepwhenidie · 01/12/2014 16:09

Hi Santa - that sounds as I thought then Smile - boxing too probably adding to it, not that I mind or am about to stop!

Stokey · 01/12/2014 16:33

I love "Merry Sithmas" One - Sorry about your appalling journey - I'm very mouthy and spend my life telling pple on the tube to give up their seats, Dh is terrified I'll get stabbed one day but it really winds me up.

Please let us know the verdict on the Xmas puds Dry, we're having pple over for NYE so may get a late one in.

Gorgeous hoodie Santa Envy

I second Liberty's recommendation of the denim bar Betty. I came away two sizes smaller and with a need for high-rise that I never knew I had.

I've only bought one present so far, Hexbug hive and bugs for my two to share and a set for niece & nephew to share. I made the mistake of reading the Christmas thread the other day and had to run away and hide on the sofa overwhelmed by disorganisation.

Luckily DD1 has only asked for a Frozen backpack and a "gem". When pushed she said Santa knows what she means...

OneLittleLady · 01/12/2014 16:42

stokey all weekend, people had been very kind, giving up seats etc on the tube but it was the people coming out of london on the return journey that were the selfish, awful people. It's pretty disgusting that they saw their bags having a seat as more important than someone like me who really did need a seat, any seat. I guess you can't force people to be kind and help though can you. Still, I'm okay and thank you everyone for your concern Smile

DryWhiteplease · 01/12/2014 17:40

Evening all....STILL NO SANTAS MNHQ!!!

Stokey I'm VERY fussy about Christmas pud. Have to be v moist, v fruity, v nutty, v boozy. Hate cheapo, mass catering ones pubs, school etc I need texture.
Last week I tried v nice
delicious loved the hidden candied clementine, but not for everyone.
not pud but bloody fantastic as I adore ice cream
may have just had a spoon of this delicious.....like they've crumbled up mince pies and mixed in ice cream...whole chunks.
have just unpacked 3 of these have high hopes cognac will report back. Thursday is Xmas pudding day Grin

St Andrew's Day dry?

shopafrolic · 01/12/2014 18:13

Squeeee - I have just had a beautiful Christmas tree, properly gorgeously smelly, lush green and bushy and fabulous, delivered to my door - for £7 a foot! No standing in a garden centre while the SA gets fed up with me asking to look at just one more tree. Just a fab tree, chosen by a woman, delivered. ACE.
One poor you. Sending you hugs, tea and Christmas cheer. Feel better soon, you are having a tough time - but glad the weekend was brill.
Dry thanks for doing all the tasting for us so tough. Loved that minced pie ice cream last year, thanks for the reminder. Will try the Heston ice cream too. Will be buying AWARD WINNING Christmas pudding from local deli (shallI send you one?).
In haberdashery news I have been to buy Christmas fabric from JL. Have scissors, threads etc. Tomorrow I am going to try and make decorations. Wish me luck.
I can't find the wash of Paige Jimmies anymore as the link doesn't exist. Sorry.

libertychick · 01/12/2014 20:10

Have fun with the sewing Shop. We will need pics of the results.

I made a sample batch of gingerbread this weekend as I have promised DD we will make a gingerbread house on Christmas Eve so I decided I had better experiment with the recipe. It's rather good! I also bought my first mince pies in M&S...an exercise regime for the month is needed or I will waddle into January. i love Christmas pudding too. DH doesn't eat anything raisin/dried fruit based so I have to get through these things alone Grin

QueenC we decided to get a cleaner again recently thank goodness DH kept saying he should do it but it wasn't happening. Think of it as an investment in everyone's mental health, and I am still LOVING my ironing service Smile

On fashion news I put 5 dresses into an outnet basket this afternoon and then changed my mind. I need to do the wardrobe cull first and decide what I really need. I am again toying with the idea of a colour/style day with HoC. I want a list of rules. I have realised half the problem is that I can't seem to settle on a particular look for myself.

BrandyAlexander · 01/12/2014 20:12

Well the day didn't quite turn out the way I planned! I was supposed to be sorting all my Christmas stuff out today. Except with dd at home from school, it gave us the chance to have some mummy and daughter time. It was so nice, and lovely not to be stressed that we needed to get to place x or y. No sharing me with ds (he totally manipulates my time!) and she revelled in it. I really need to try and figure out how we get more of this kind of time together as she obviously needs it.

Lib I have been thinking about you denim bar post. I am wearing my j crew matchstick jeans which are a 26, and every once in a while I do have to pull them up. They are loose on waist but fitted on thigh. The 25 would tight on thigh. Did they give you any advice on this? (If you have same problem?)

libertychick · 01/12/2014 20:26

I have big thighs Novice, I think stretchy fabric is the answer! What seems to be the best thing about the premium brands is that they have the stretch but hold their shape and seem to have thicker fabric so you almost feel a bit 'held in'. I have saddlebags too (attractive) and often find jeans 'catch' on my bottom/hips. I need at least 2% elastane content and decent fabric weight.

The only jeans I don't have to hoick up are high waisted ones - the Paige Hoxton skinny high rise are the ones I bought at the Denim bar - so expensive, I still feel a bit shocked that I spent that on jeans but they are fab. They are very stretchy but look like jeans not jeggings. They are stitched 4 times on the waist so don't give much at that point so they stay up. I think I will get them again as since I bought them i have hardly put on any other jeans.

libertychick · 01/12/2014 20:28

Sounds like you had a lovely day with DD novice. So nice to do that. My SIL has a girl and 2 younger boys and she takes DN out by herself at least once every 2 weeks even if just for an hour as she says the boys just demand all the attention and DN gets left out.

shopafrolic · 01/12/2014 20:28

I describe my premium denim as "like a hug for your bum". You know the people who hug you and lift you off the floor? That's my best fitting, bum enhancing, denim.

libertychick · 01/12/2014 20:31

Good way to put it Shop, the Hoxtons give me a bum lift for sure!

MarshaBrady · 01/12/2014 20:35

The next skinnies I get will be high rise, those look good Lib

LinusDKD · 01/12/2014 20:37

shop what's the sizing like on the J Crew cableknit jumper you have?

novice poor DD also gets less of my attention than DS. Probably because she is a second child but also because DS is a lot less independent more clingy

DD and I do have about 1.5 hours to ourselves on the weekend when DH and DS go off to play sports and it's nice to spend some time alone with her.

libertychick · 01/12/2014 20:37

I've just had another look at them and realised that when I bought them they cost £40 more Shock I paid £235 for them - gahhhh. Oh well, they are great. Next pair will be in a sale or from Shopbop.

cartoontrickster · 01/12/2014 20:38

gah have missed loads!
one I hope you are ok. people are bastards.
so I did ny measurements then instantly regreted it! my hip and over boob is about the same, my waist is obviously smaller but not anywhere like I would want it to be. am I there fot an hour glass? ive never quite got the bodyshape thing.
denim bar sounds so good jeans are really hard to get a good fit. I've always known you should buy them tight because they will stretch but muffin top is not a good look Sad
can't believe some of you have your xmas decs out already!
