Here we are again.....

OP posts:
MollyAir · 14/11/2014 19:24

I have these on right now

They've been much admired and are extremely comfy.

MollyAir · 14/11/2014 19:28

This scarf looks nice; I bought a much wider one in b/w houndstooth on one side, red tartan the other - but it's not on the website. Confused Also 12

MollyAir · 14/11/2014 19:36

I fancy these ankle boots but they never have my size.

They also have some black, grey and white tartan tights. If you don't like tartan, none of my suggestions are any good to you!

beachyhead · 14/11/2014 19:38

Wilbur, did you see the Alan Yentob Imagine programme the other night on Bette Midler? It's on the iPlayer if you missed it.

MollyAir · 14/11/2014 19:48

I'm the one who was extolling Merton mega-Sainsbo btw. I don't know about the kids ranges however, because ds is long out of that age bracket, and dd is in a class of her own as to clothes sensitivity. Both physical (too tight! too itchy! too scratchy!) and psychological (yuk! I'm not wearing that)

wilbur · 14/11/2014 20:56

Ooh, I like those trousers, Molly. Nice boots too. Hmm, maybe voucher should be more about me.

Beachy - have got plans to watch the Alan Yentob programme when I next have control of the remote (doesn't happen often), very much looking forward to it.

cremolafoam · 14/11/2014 21:40

I also like the trews Molly. Very nice variation on a theme for me so is better exercise restraint -
Especially as I casually looked at a La Redoute offer code I had and ¡Pouf! I had bought a new top with sequins I don't really need although I might wear it to the 50th birthday in The Nightclub. Erk. Confused

bigTillyMint · 14/11/2014 22:11

Molly, you are having a tartan moment!

Wilbur, your sparkly Bette Midler night sounds fab. I remember going to see Beaches with my friend and both of us blubbing!

I have just had a lovely evening catch-up with my friend, and DD and all her mates are gone to the party! Need to get to bed soon as I have an early start tomorrow - off Christmas shopping with a friend!

CointreauVersial · 14/11/2014 22:22

I'm avoiding haircuts - I haven't had one since August 2013 (just the occasional self administered hack at the fringe). I also have never coloured my hair, and don't intend to, if I can possibly help it. I'm acquiring a good sprinkling of grey and will just let it spread.

Wilbur, I think your hair has been a different colour every time I've met you. Smile

wilbur · 14/11/2014 22:47

Grin CV - and there are still lots of boxes of hair dye at Boots I haven't tried yet....

lalsy · 14/11/2014 23:37

Crem, you definitely need sequins at the moment, go on!

Saw the Imitation Game tonight - it made Pride seem even better to me (both based on true events).

bigTillyMint · 15/11/2014 07:05

That's interesting Lalsy - we might go and see the Imitation Game next week (if Mr Turner times/venues don't fit) - was it not so good?

He's going to feel lovely on the plane, Rudy Smile

I went to bed at 845pm last night and I feel chipper! I'm about to start cooking venison as we have some friends over tonight. I haven't cooked it for about 15 years, but discovered it in the local butchers farm shop, same price as beef and shot on the farm next door, so very organic, no air miles and very low in fat Smile

Kids won't eat it though....

lalsy · 15/11/2014 08:28

BTM, the acting is great: as Baroness Trumpington put it on radio 4 "that chap who played Alan" is great. I was disappointed by some things though - one of the things i loved about Pride was they took a fantastic true story and stuck to it. ds and friends absolutely loved it though.

Beachy, I threatened to cook rabbit once, and DD1 told me she'd never speak to me again if I did. Mind you, I also told her my new furry gilet was made of labrador puppy, and the poor girl's face ..... Shock Shock . She really didn't think I was teasing. Heartless mummy. Grin

Ruby, just realised I need to PM my address. Coming atcha shortly.

More nasty surprises uncovered by the plumber yesterday, including a mouse nest under the floor, a soil pipe not fastened to anything, and drains that have been installed "the wrong way" (poo shoots up, instead of down, apparently Confused ). The last one will eventially require some quite expensive remedial work, but we are not going to tackle it now, as actually they haven't given us any problems as yet. We will "put a lid on it", so to speak.

Good news is the builder came round this morning, and thinks it will only be a couple of hour's work to fix the lintel, and he should be able to fit it in this week "if it rains". Should be a dead cert, then.....

beachyhead · 15/11/2014 12:08

Frankly the way my new dog is behaving, I might well make a gilet from Labrador puppy; that would be a first for style and beauty Smile

bigTillyMint · 15/11/2014 13:42

Beachy, just tell me it's beef, they'll never knowWink

I had rabbit unknowingly as a teen en France and after commenting on how nice the meal was, found outShock!

I am having a successful shopping daySmile

bigTillyMint · 15/11/2014 13:43

According to my phone, I have done my 10000 steps already!

Blackduck · 15/11/2014 15:48

We used to have rabbit a lot as children (in Germany) - my mum would say it was chicken... Until my DBro found a kidney Grin

Here have done some shopping and sorted ds out for school next week (he's much better) and sent 'can't work like this' email to boss and senior boss. Also trying to contact HR.

herbaceous · 15/11/2014 16:09

Don't chickens have kidneys?

I'm always a bit baffled why people think eating venison and rabbit is 'worse' than beef or chicken. Don't cows and chickens count as animals? At least deer and rabbits have a nice life, gambolling over rolling pastures before being shot in the head, as opposed to living lives of abject misery then being slaughtered en masse with their brethren.

Don't mind me, I'm just in a funk as I'm working on an assignment. Just the draft, mind you, but it's not going well. And the website I need with the core curriculum on it isn't working, and I can't imagine working until Monday. Which is the deadline.

We have five assignments, mostly in more than two parts. For each part we have to do a draft, which is assessed by our tutor, then may or may not have to rewrite. The assignments are generally about stuff we learned in lectures weeks ago. So we have lectures on Monday about subject C, lectures on Thursday about subject D, an assignment that needs rewriting on subject A, another one I'm drafting on subject B. Plus two lots of teaching practice a week, that have to have detailed rationales incorporating subjects A, B, C, D and X, Y Z from a huge mass of books. My head is about to explode.

DP has been a star, and taken DS out to buy Lego, made said Lego and even sat through a whole DVD of Power Rangers.

bigTillyMint · 15/11/2014 16:28

I don't know. Are they the giblets? They definitely have liversGrin

Herbs, deer and rabbits are cuter than cows and sheep!

The assignments and writing and rewriting is tedious. But I'm sure you won't need much rewriting - I managed OK on my course and I'm only a teacher, not a writer for a livingGrin

DD is home, gave me all the lowdown from the party and is now zonked. She is babysitting at 6. DS is looking hopeful!
