Here we are again.....

Rose I have always worn what I have been instructed by many websites/ advisors, not to wear, in the shape if skinnies or jeggings.couldn't care less frankly- they're comfortable . Go with the flow-non?
Hatty- I am following the Tiger that Came to tea story with interest.Grin
I find brows very difficult and just have mine shaped by the threading lady. A revelation has been correctly coloured eyebrow pencil. Seems I have been using the wrong colour for years and it makes all the difference.
On specs ; as some if you will be awareSmile, I wear a pair of rather bonkers glasses having decided to go for 'a look' rather than hide my partial blindness behind c. lenses. Perhaps this is a way forward? There are loads of vintage specs traders online , many featuring the ones CV and mrs S mention, which are currently the height of chic. Ah Oui !
I too wire a pink pair from the age of 5 complete with a blanked out lens to 'correct a lazy eye'
Shock

Bd, I am reeling from a similar ' House of Cards' scenario at work : there are very few people above me left in their substantive posts. There's a lot of 'Acting Up' in both senses. ( lots if people in jobs they weren't hired to do. I sympathise with you and Mrs S wholeheartedly. Courage.

I am off sick. Ear infection. Pain in leg. bit of a temp. Scratchy throat. Inability to battle daily with heavy dose of PKs. Shattered.
Am resting with dreadful c5 movies and tea in pyjamas.
JealousEnvy if MIs banana leaf curry and warmth.

bigTillyMint · 14/11/2014 13:22

Cremo, you need looking afterFlowers

Well the rain stopped so we went out- five happy childrenSmile

I remember loads of children wearing patches/having glasses blanked out in the 70's but never see it now. Why is that?

I am a bit Envy at you going to Dunelm, NU - there isn't one near us and I keep getting the emails, but would like to check out the actual quality!

hattymattie · 14/11/2014 13:34

Crem - hope you feel better soon - meanwhile enjoy your C5 movies.

I'm still contemplating a flu jab - does anybody else get one?

It is a miserable day here as well so I'm curling up with a book and I've no excuses.

DD1's boyfriend is visiting her at uni this weekend. It is his first time in England and I fear it is going to be dreadful weather.

CointreauVersial · 14/11/2014 13:36

Ah Crem, not again. Have a good rest.

In the absence of banana-leaf-dining MI I'm keeping the crepey ladyjog flame alight, although this morning's was a shocker, in torrential rain.

DH came along too, then moaned all through breakfast that he had "jogger's nipple". Grin

hattymattie · 14/11/2014 13:37

Monty - good luck with haircut. I loved mine really short but I did feel the need for make up. I've let it grow slightly longer but it is still short iynwim. I'm trying to hold out till the end of the month for root colour and I might be a real devil and get some auburn (a very a small amount) put into the brown.

Rosebag · 14/11/2014 13:42

Good luck with the hair monty you will look lovely and think of all the new earring buying opportunities! I still have longish hair and wonder whether at nearly 54 I should get a nana haircut with a wash and set....Hmm Grin
cremo you poor thing. A duvet day is definitely in order. I have boyfriend jeans which I love although they make me look like a wide load....and my black straight leg ones which I keep for going out. The latter are probably the most flattering but I am feeling good in these boot cuts. They're high waisted and I'd love to be able to wear low waisted with a great belt but muffin, overhang and a big arse has put paid to all that Grin
tilly I think kids are still being patched but at nursery age. Even though its not many. I hated the fight I had with the kids over getting it on and off but they didn't get lazy eyes and for that I'm grateful. I agree with cremo about making a feature of glasses. I think they got trendy round here when geek glasses came in to fashion. They are thought to be cool by teens. Not that I don't loath my reading glasses with a vengeance of course....

bigTillyMint · 14/11/2014 13:46

CV, I can't believe you went out running in that rain this morning! You deserve a medalSmile

I haven't had really short hair since I was 5 and had no control over how long it was! Funnily enough, DD insisted on getting her hair cut short like her teachers in reception (quite a few of them did) and has never had it short since either!

Rosebag · 14/11/2014 13:47

Cross post hatty I have been getting the flu jab for about 12 years. I think it's probably a good thing. I had mine last week.
Grin at joggers nipple....can't get very sympathetic as a female with boobs and the shenanigans we have to go through to keep them in check when exercising....

MontserratCaballe · 14/11/2014 14:01

Omg, I am in a hair catastrophe. The first colour was far too silvery purple which would be a complete no no at work so I have had to ask the woman to do it again. I wonder what colour it will be now

I have had such a shitty week that this was supposed to be my cheer up treat. I am now at the basin trying not to cry. Bugger bugger bugger.

Rosebag · 14/11/2014 14:09

It'll get sorted, monty Just don't leave the premises til you're happy. At least you told her it was no good. I get intimidated and smile, pay, leave and then howl for days when I get home…. Wine xx

cremolafoam · 14/11/2014 14:11

Oh Monty, how utterly crapola . I've had this too- complete peroxide job when I'd asked for hi- lights.
I'm sure she can fix it. Colours are not so chemical any more .
Xxxxxxxx

Am home now.

The cut is short but not too bad. I don't really have the bone structure to carry it off - Annie Lennox I am not, alas - but it is OK. The colour has a tiny purple tint to it, but that will come out when I have washed it a couple of times, apparently. Then it will be very ash coloured. Not grey, but cool blonde rather than warm.

Perhaps I should go back to the £6 box from Superdrug.....

Thanks for all the kind words. I have to go and do the school run in a minute. In a hat. Better repair my face (as far as I can).

NUFC69 · 14/11/2014 15:32

Monty, I hope you feel better soon - nothing worse than coming out of a hairdresser or beauty salon and feeling miserable. It always takes a little while to get used to things. I have half head highlights, primarily to cover up the fact that my hair is going grey at the front and is still quite dark at the back. I must admit that I do prefer to be blonde, but I like a bit of depth to the colour.

Have they found the tiger yet, Hatty? Like you I had my flu jab last week (at the local chemist, not the GPs as the queues there on "flu day" are horrendous). This is the third time I have had it and I haven't had so much as a cold since then (mind you, it is also about that long since I worked, so probably that's got something to do with the lack of colds/flu).

Sorry to hear about your ear infection, Crem - horrible, horrible things. You are having a bad time of it recently, aren't you?

BTM, the Dunelm Mill opened near here about nine months ago and I must admit I do like it. We bought our new curtain pole from them the other week (54 compared with something like 200 in JL!). They have a really good range of most things to do with the home plus the odd bit of crafty stuff which is very useful for me so that I don't have to go into Newcastle to buy, for example, a zip. By the way, when I was in JL on Tuesday I looked at the Christmas fabric: I nearly had a fit I could find nothing under 24 a metre!!! Ikea here I come ...

Monty, it sounds groovy - hopefully either you will get used to it or it will wash out a bit! I have never ever had my hair dyed - God knows how I will cope if I start going grey!

Yes, NU, JL is very expensive for fabric!

wilbur · 14/11/2014 15:43

Happy Friday afternoon all. Longing for the sofa here, but still got a few chores. Have done quite a bit of satisfying box-ticking today though, and feel set up for the weekend.

Hosp appointment all ok - no signs of anything. I had wondered about polyps but nothing there apparently, apart from slightly crepey uterine lining (knackered out from the production of dcs). All rest is still functioning normally - ovaries quite perky Shock. So no idea why I feel bloated and my cycle has been 23 days for the last 4 months, but it's nothing sinister so that's good. Might be stress related, and have been told to try Vit B complex and magnesium.

Monty - I love the sound of silvery purple (bet it looks brilliant), but then I am very keen on hair colour of all sorts and if it's not what you wanted, then I hope it calms down to an acceptable shade.

Sorry you're feeling pants, Crem - hope you've got ome time to rest up this weekend.

Rudy - are we supposed to be sending you email and street addresses for SS? I think I missed that post. Can someone tell me what I should be doing?

Ooh - and I have a big Sainsbury voucher that came with our new BT Broadband and am planning an outing the Merton store - was that the one someone said was good for clothes? Any suggestions for what to look at from Sainsbos regulars? Will need to get Xmas PJs for dcs, although I think their kids ranges only go up to 12, yes? Ds1 is currently growing as you look at him, just sprouted in last month, and I think he will be too large for all their kids stuff, but too small for the smaller menswear.

hattymattie · 14/11/2014 16:24

Wilbur something like 70% of the French population is magnesium deficient so I've bought supplements as I reckon I'm included in that statistic.

Rose - your hair is fab you don't need to cut it. Monty - I'm sure the hair colour will calm down although it's miserable to come out of the hairdresser feeling like that instead of a million dollars.

You lot have motivated me to have my flu jab so I'll make an appointment next week.

DD2 finished early today and has faffed around instead of writing her essay - then she will say it took her ten hours to write. I have just yelled at her for analysing her poetry whilst listening to the radio. As usual, there is no essay plan so she will hand in unstructured incoherent work.Angry

Yes, I'm happy with the plan Rudy!

Hatty, sympathies re teen homework!

Wilbur, I got DS some Next ones last year or year before which went up to age 14 or 16 IIRC. No tips on Sainsbos clothes as they never seem to have the lovely pieces Herbs snaps up when I (rarely) look.

TGIF, despite DS being arsey because I haven't just OK'd him going out due to school issues mentioned earlier this week. I am going out for a drink with a friend later to escape DD and all her mates getting ready here for the party Smile

Rosebag · 14/11/2014 18:04

Sounds like a good idea tilly. Less teen , more gin. ( what terrible rhyming... )
Thanks hatty I still go through phases of hankering after a very chic jaw length bob which I have had over the years instead of the long layers. But it's so hard to keep perfect. If it makes you feel any better I have spent every evening this week hollering at DD over home work. She and I are both worn out from it and I took her for a milkshake and a cake at a cafe after school to make up for it. I so wish I could just be her mummy and not her task master.
monty I like the sound of your hair. Any chance of a piccy on Fb? You can create the illusion of bone structure with blusher maybe? ( remembering back to the thick line of it in the 80s...maybe not...Grin. )
wilbur I am glad all is well health wise. I have suffered from bloating more and more as I've got older. I just have to eat less bread unfortunately. But when I was having chronic bouts of cystitis and mentioned the bloating to the GP I got sent immediately for a pelvic scan. It was horrible. Thanks to you.
rudy do you want addresses PMd now?
Sitting in miserable morrisons cafe waiting for DS2 to finish grade five theory lesson. I see to do a lot of this.... Hmm

wilbur · 14/11/2014 18:38

Thanks Rose, I think I might try cutting down on the wheat and see what happens. And milkshake, cake and a bit of bridge building with dd following a shouty week sounds like fabulous mummy behaviour IMO.

I am currently hyperventilating with excitement as I just found out I have got a ticket to see Bette Midler doing a tv special recording on Sunday evening. I am a HUGE Bette fan and have never seen her live. I have to dress "smart and glamorous". I'm interpreting that as sequins, in some form or other.

wilbur · 14/11/2014 18:40

Rudy - have PM'd you.

QueenQueenie · 14/11/2014 18:48

Have pmed you my address Rudy..

MollyAir · 14/11/2014 19:21

Oh, now I'm going to have to link lovely clothes currently available at Sainsbo's...
