Here we are again.....

OP posts:
Rosebag · 24/10/2014 10:42

Oh stropps how they do punish us for trying to have a life. Detachment seems the way to go. I must practise.
Someone needs to write a book entitled "getting the buggers to take responsibility ( for bodily needs and other essentials )"
CV you could carry off those blanket ponchos/capes. They increase my bosomy bulk too much but I have a lovely jumper poncho, chunky, crochet type in plain black from Next last year which I like very much for mid season. They're not doing exactly the same this year but similar although the sleeves seem to be absent or short. Will link later.
MI you're on your way. Yayyyy!!
Got my paws crossed that this is the right one beachy
I am being taken to posh Hertfordshire hotel for brunch now. I went back to bed too and slept in til after 9.30 as DH offered to do the station run with DD. Bliss.

India severe Envy

Auriga · 24/10/2014 11:07

Oops. Posted on old thread.

Précis: stinking cold/cough, week wiped out, supposed to start three days' recording today.

Not promising :(

bigTillyMint · 24/10/2014 11:17

Bad luck Auriga.

Rudy and Stropps, I so feel your pain. I have got a stroppy, overtired (yes, training 4x a week and at least 2 matches is too much) DS causing problems ATM.

hattymattie · 24/10/2014 11:41

BTM was it you that went to see Gone Girl? I'm going tonight - was it good?

Rosebag · 24/10/2014 12:03

It was me, last night Hatty. It's LONG. Quite clever but I felt it got too farce -like towards the end. Not entirely believable.

hattymattie · 24/10/2014 12:24

Thanks Rose - I quite fancy a daft film though - I'll give it a go and report back tomorrowSmile.

CointreauVersial · 24/10/2014 13:22

Rose - thanks for the solitary vote of confidence in my cape aspirations. I fear the majority may be right, though.....I shall sit on my hands.

Strops - big LOL at your family incapable of getting out of bed without you. And it being your fault. I don't suppose any of them needed their bottoms wiping while you were away? Actually, it is a major bugbear of mine that, despite sleeping with their noses virtually pressed against some item of technology, mine can't get themselves out of bed either. Although I like to believe that they could do it if they knew I wouldn't be there to wake them.

Come to think of it, I could make a list of things they couldn't do without me.....cook, eat, clean, wash clothes, pay bills.....Hmm

Have just pressed the button on the bathroom renovation - eek! It will come in at around £7k all in - eeeeeek! And starting 12th November, once the plumber gets back from the Caribbean (tells you all you need to know Grin).

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 24/10/2014 13:53

I'm wanting to see Northern Soul - on next Wed at my localSmile

CV, same here re jobs they couldn't do. And agree about the it being our fault as mums.
And wishing you strength on the bathroom front. Is it your only one, or do you have another you can use?

beachyhead · 24/10/2014 14:19

I'm back from dog reccy and we go back tomorrow morning to get him. So that's half term dealt with.

He's currently called 'Blackie' - he's actually brown Confused. He's very hound like, flat coated, ratty tail, but very sweet and gentle. He let me check his ears, mouth and paws, with no issue. He leans on you!

MontserratCaballe · 24/10/2014 14:44

Oh Beachy, what lovely news. A half term treat for you all. Can / will you rename? Can we have a photo tomorrow?

CV, good luck with the bathroom. How long is it supposed to take? I think plumbing is a trade to watch. Certainly looks like it judging from the holidays. We have women plumbers and electricians round here. They make a mint (although do work super hard).

Lovely news this morning. The personal trainer is pregnant, the month before she was due to start IVF. She is so thrilled, having been told she had 1/3 of the eggs a woman at 41 should have, so the chances were slim. I had a little weep whilst doing my star jumps. Despite being v. tired and feeling sick, she could still outperform me. Ooops.

Rosebag · 24/10/2014 15:08

Duh just realised my poncho is Hush, not Next. This season they're doing a similar version but in a plain knit…not bad. CV

poncho

bigTillyMint · 24/10/2014 15:21

Beachy, are you going to rename him?

Monty, I am hoping DS might take up a trade. His granddad is a brickie, but if he takes after DH, there's NO hope!
And lovely news for your PT.

Holiday!Smile

bigTillyMint · 24/10/2014 15:22

Rose, I like that poncho...

cremolafoam · 24/10/2014 15:31

Oh Beachy I love that he leans into you. Can we vote on a name? Pics please!!

Rose I like that. But would result in monoboob on meSad

Gah! Teenagers. Poor you Stropps and others. Hatty peanut butter is gross.Biscuit

QueenQueenie · 24/10/2014 16:02

OOOH Beachy, a crepey dog - how exciting!

I lurve naming things / houses / dogs / children / anything... in another life I'd like the job of thinking up ridiculous names for paint colours (fandango, birthday blancmange, sphagnum moss... you get the idea). Do you have a pic of ddog? What are you thinking of calling him? Can I help please?

Very exciting re impending trip MI! Envy from me too. Are you going North or South? Apologies if you've told me and I've forgotten. Have been on fab holiday around southern India a long time ago and it was magical.

Stropps, do what you need to do and let them step up and take some responsibility for themselves.

Have had a surprisingly productive afternoon for a Friday - all those tedious phone calls / emails that need doing but are too dull to do... may celebrate with a stiff drink later.

Hope you feel better soon Auriga. What a bugger to be poorly when it's so inconvenient. Flowers

Good weekends to all!

motherinferior · 24/10/2014 16:07

Sarf. Mainly Auroville/Pondicherry/Chennai: will also nip to Mamallapuram and Tharagambadi (will do that by taxi hire, which is v expensive in Indian currency but affordable if you're used to paying for trains in the UK, and we don't have the time to wait interminably for buses; in fact it's pretty well the only way to get to Tharagambadi, which used to be a Danish colony). I may nip to Bangalore too when my friend's gone home, though also have to visit ancient aunties in Chennai.

bigTillyMint · 24/10/2014 16:29

Hatty, the peanut butter thing is a daily occurrence in my house - DH, DD, but mainly DS all do that!

MI, Indian trains are great, aren't they? Especially the overnight ones! How long are you going for - sounds like a trip that could take months!

QueenQueenie · 24/10/2014 16:31

I have just purchased this with the 20% off, making it 55 squid for a cashie jumper. Saw it in rl and it's lovely - doesn't have the aura of m and s about it at all.. (but it's not a poncho ... or a cape).

motherinferior · 24/10/2014 16:35

Only 16 days so packing it in! could do without the ancient aunties tbh

QueenQueenie · 24/10/2014 16:35

NOT in that purple colour that the link shows - but the rather questionable edgy"chartreuse" option...

QueenQueenie · 24/10/2014 16:36

questionable

QueenQueenie · 24/10/2014 16:39

ps. code is OCT14EM for 20% off m and s clothing / 'homeware'?! / beauty

Stropperella · 24/10/2014 20:34

BTM, thank you very much for the Millionaires recipe. I have just put the final product in the fridge, but not before peeling off a big piece of caramel. Oh yum.

MollyAir · 24/10/2014 21:46

Catching up....Our dog leans in. He also sits on your foot - anybody's foot will do. If hungry, he nudges you with his cold, wet nose and stares at you defiantly. (This works.)

He hasn't taken to drugs, but has, on one occasion, got heavily into eating Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter from the jar - he liked it very much.

Good luck with your doggy, Beachy. Hide the Bottom Butter.
