Hi,
I'm off on adoption leave with a toddler. I'm used to wearing smart clothes for work so this is a shock to my wardrobe (and massive shock to the system in general :-) )
I'm a size 22/24 bottoms 20/22 top. Iwaslooking on sosimply be and pinkcclove websites but I just aimlessly wander.

At the moment I wear bootleg jeans from new look (I know but I like them) jeggings and leggings. I've got a couple of skater dresses from new look (the ones elasticated under waist) but none have sleeves and so I always wear a cardigan too and feel like I'm flapping about.
I also wear vest tops, scarf and cardy combo but I feel so Bleurgh in it.
I really feel like I've lost my identity (dramatic I know! )
Help would be much appreciated as Ineed new things for autumn/wwinter

First of all, congratulations Smile

Second of all, do you want dresses, tights, boots etc. or do you prefer trousers?

Third of all, what do you look like?

Fourth of all, what's your budget, roughly?

dreamcometrue · 12/09/2014 14:58

Thanks tethers!
I'm 5ft 7. Have a belly, big arms, large boobs. If I lost wait I'd look curvy still.
Budget would be as cheap as possible really. I've been given £200 for my birthday but I want a waterproof out of that too as we walk everywhere.

I do so much bending down etc that Itthink trousers/leggings etc would be better but I do miss wearing dresses.
I suppose my style before practicality took over was vintagy pretty. Floral etc. My idea of nightmare clothes would be peplum tops/dresses or to the other extreme trainers. I have cath kidston pumps, ballet shoes and brogues.
Gosh that was an essay wasn't it. Sorry!

Plus size tights if you are over about 5 foot 2 are impossible to buy!!
Asos curve is really good for Dresses. H and Ms plus size range is great for basics and I like matalans plus range although it is isn't a big range. George asda have just brought out a plus size range and it looks really nice surprisingly!
I like wearing tea or skater dresses with leggings. Patterned, cotton tops with A line skirts and leggings. Straight leg jeans with longline tops and boots. Casual maxi skirts with vest tops and cardigans.

tethersend · 12/09/2014 15:19

That is the perfect answer Grin

Tea dresses could still work very well. Something like this with a leather jacket! opaques and boots for example.

Will look for some more things.

tethersend · 12/09/2014 15:20

this with black leggings and ballet flats

itsbetterthanabox · 12/09/2014 15:21

Instead of cardies try shrugs, not flappy thenSmile
Nice wool jumpers look good with skirts.

tethersend · 12/09/2014 15:21

this with black opaques and ankle boots

Fairylea · 12/09/2014 15:21

I'm always banging on about them here but I am very fond of Yours. Really nice new trendy stuff and they do tights and underwear and all the rest as well. Some of its hideous and frumpy but you do get the odd nice bit and if you sign up to the mailing list you get tons of offers.

itsbetterthanabox · 12/09/2014 15:22

Lots of the Asos dresses have sleeves if you want them.

tethersend · 12/09/2014 15:23

ditto

mrssmith79 · 12/09/2014 15:29

I'm about your proportions op and have recently picked up a few lovely asos curve bits on eBay for a fraction of the web prices. Also Next do a plus size range online. Nothing especially show stopping but some decent casual things.

tethersend · 12/09/2014 15:31

tethersend · 12/09/2014 15:43

kimono to throw over black fitted t shirt and jeans

tethersend · 12/09/2014 15:43

(Toddlers love tassels Grin)

itsbetterthanabox · 12/09/2014 16:01

M and S XXL tight are good if your short and plus or tall and slimmer. Not tall and plus!

tethersend · 12/09/2014 16:13

waterfall blazer

dreamcometrue · 12/09/2014 16:37

Wow thank you so much! I go on hols next weekend and would love new clothes for it.
So I think maybe couple of pairs of jeans, I'd love a couple of sleeved teadresses ffor over leggings, and a few pretty tops. I didn't know about some of these plus size ranges.
I have a kimono but I worried it was too boxy.
I do have a jacket too like the waterfall one.
If I'm wearing skinny jeans/jeggings what kind of tops would be best. I get very conscious of my tummy. Do I gofor long? Loose?
Thank you again!

Just having a look and like these with leggings? Do you think ankle boots would look good with them?

Lots of good ideas already. I was trying on some of those ASOS dresses last night! I would echo longline tops and dresses with leggings and pumps.

New Look have a better plus size section online. I feel they are fairly 'fashiony' too.

As suggested by this board I order lots of things and then keep 1 or 2 depending on what they look like.

Congrats on your adoption.

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 12/09/2014 17:03

Should clarify, I order lots to try different styles and sizes, not just to waste the shops time!
