Hi,
I'm off on adoption leave with a toddler. I'm used to wearing smart clothes for work so this is a shock to my wardrobe (and massive shock to the system in general :-) )
I'm a size 22/24 bottoms 20/22 top. Iwaslooking on sosimply be and pinkcclove websites but I just aimlessly wander.

At the moment I wear bootleg jeans from new look (I know but I like them) jeggings and leggings. I've got a couple of skater dresses from new look (the ones elasticated under waist) but none have sleeves and so I always wear a cardigan too and feel like I'm flapping about.
I also wear vest tops, scarf and cardy combo but I feel so Bleurgh in it.
I really feel like I've lost my identity (dramatic I know! )
Help would be much appreciated as Ineed new things for autumn/wwinter

I think those tunics you linked to are lovely.

Yours stuff is lovely. Super comfy too.

Maverick66 · 12/09/2014 19:29

Just want to add my congratulations on the arrival of your toddler. May you be truly blessed with him/her :)

I just love these plus size threads ;)

polyhymnia · 12/09/2014 19:49

Congratulations.
On tights, I'm a tall Size 22 and I always buy lots of opaque tights from M and S Autograph every winter. Have never had problems with them and recommend them.

Definitely always long tops over skinnies, which I wear a lot.

Yours isn't for me - prefer better quality - but that may be less important if you're younger. I buy lots from Boden, choosing very carefully to avoid their 'fun' garish styles. Check out their Chelsea turn-up and Ponte Roma styles.

polyhymnia · 12/09/2014 19:53

Sorry those last two are trousers, both of which make a nice change from skinnies. Also have some successful Boden dresses, though they do vary hugely .

Other thing I meant to say was I strongly advise avoiding waterfall cardis which tend to give ship in full sail effect on large busts .

VeganCow · 12/09/2014 22:02

Dream those tunics are lovely, especially the first black multi one, would look great with ankle boots, plain ones preferably.

Yours have actual shops too here's the store finder

itsbetterthanabox · 12/09/2014 22:53

Why oh why are yours shops only up north! None down south at all. It's bizarre!

polyhymnia · 12/09/2014 23:02

Neither of those tunics appeal to me. . The prints are a bit frumpy for my personal taste - and both have back ties which I never wear as they take me straight back to the dreaded days of Evans outsizes.

Fairylea · 12/09/2014 23:13

I like a back tie as I have larger boobs and a smaller waist and it means I can have something fitted at the top and then adjust it to flatter lower down. :) I always end up sending stuff from boden back as it's always either too clingy round the stomach or a bit too short in the body.

Yours isn't high end quality by any means, it's a bit like new look / asos really but still worth a browse :)

If I won the lottery I'd shop at seasalt and lands end all the time Grin

dreamcometrue · 13/09/2014 10:24

ICan't wear Evans. Just sseeing the mannequins they use on the website makes me miserable!
Another question. I am going to get some skinny jeans/jeggings but unsure what loose tops to wear over them. Any ideas?

Yours clothing do really good opaque tights, they are called 3d tights and fit me, I'm size 26 and almost 6' tall (don't judge). They are really generous! Ten pounds a pair but they last ages - I bought my first pair about 18 months ago and they are still going strong. I don't work for them honestly, I hate their clothes usually but those tights are amazing!

itsbetterthanabox · 13/09/2014 11:51

Missss. The 3d ones you say?
I bought their normal ones not the 3d ones. I'm a 26 and 5'9. I bought them in size 28-32 and could not get them on Hmm.
Have you tried the cheaper yours ones? How do they compare the the 3d? Will the 3d ones fit me better you think?

Misssss · 13/09/2014 12:05

Yes the 3d ones, I've not tried the other ones, I bought the 3d ones in the bigger size and they are fab. I was skeptical but saw a blogger reviewing them and thought I'd give them a go. I have a drawer full of cheaper tights that aren't long enough. These ae seriously the only ones that fit. Oh also there's a brand called bbw tights that are great but only from America and vvv spendy.

The blog where I found them

itsbetterthanabox · 13/09/2014 12:38

Thank you! I'm the same, a drawer full of tights that don't fit. I'll try these and get the dress I've been eyeing up on the yours site.

dreamcometrue · 13/09/2014 12:53

I hate yours normal tights. I bought some for my baby shower and spent the entire night holding them up. Mortifying!

Hey! I don't know if it's any help but I'm a size 22 and I have a fashion blog. I'm quite a casual dresser too, so there might be some ideas on there? www.mrsbebeblog.co.uk - good luck! B x

dreamcometrue · 14/09/2014 13:39

Thanks mrs I've just had a look. You know what I'd love in a blog? If someone showed their wardrobe with a "this would go with this but also this etc etc"
So last night I bought: a black and awhite loose tshirt that I can wear under my blazer with scarves etc. New jeans that I can wear my "breton" style tops with.

Skinny jeans (I'll give them a go) which I can hopefully wear the looser tops with. The two tunics which I canwear wwith leggings. The blue dress you linked tethers and a swimsuit. All for £110 and they'll be delivered on Monday. I'm really excited!

Anyone know of a plus size blog where the woman is tall and pear shaped? All the plus size blogs I read are short apple shaped women so even though I love the clothes ideas most of them would look wrong on me.

Cerisier · 14/09/2014 14:21

Congratulations Dream on your little one, I hope you enjoy your new clothes. I love the thread and am browsing all the links. Lots of fab ideas.

Shesparkles · 14/09/2014 14:26

Congratulations on the new member of your family!
I'm plus size, and I know it's a bit of a dirty word on Mn, but I like a lot of the plus size clothes that Next do, I usually order online and get them delivered to the local shop.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned marisota.co.uk yet? They can be quite good for basics-I've had some really lovely quality leggings from there,a me they're not see through! Tesco do some decentlus size clothes, it can be worth looking every few weeks as their stocks changes really quickly.
If off to browse the links that others have shared!

MrsBeBeBlog · 14/09/2014 18:27

I'm 5'7" and carry most of my weight in my hips - www.mrsbebeblog.co.uk . Also try - www.frivolousmrsd.com Elena is 5'9" I think, although she's quite vintage-y. Also google It's Em Channel and Call me Kim, both nearly 6 foot.

Khalessi · 14/09/2014 19:29

I love the dresses from yours esp the black printed one. It would look fab with leggings!

polyhymnia · 14/09/2014 19:49

Still on the back tie, I too have a very big busy and smaller waist - hourglass - and need some definition but I just couldn't go out in a back tied garment and feel remotely stylish.

polyhymnia · 14/09/2014 19:51

My alternative is to just keep trying on masses of tops - mostly from Boden, sometimes from M and S Autograph or Marina Rinaldi - until I find one that doesn't hang like a tent or cling too much.
