Hi,
I'm off on adoption leave with a toddler. I'm used to wearing smart clothes for work so this is a shock to my wardrobe (and massive shock to the system in general :-) )
I'm a size 22/24 bottoms 20/22 top. Iwaslooking on sosimply be and pinkcclove websites but I just aimlessly wander.

At the moment I wear bootleg jeans from new look (I know but I like them) jeggings and leggings. I've got a couple of skater dresses from new look (the ones elasticated under waist) but none have sleeves and so I always wear a cardigan too and feel like I'm flapping about.
I also wear vest tops, scarf and cardy combo but I feel so Bleurgh in it.
I really feel like I've lost my identity (dramatic I know! )
Help would be much appreciated as Ineed new things for autumn/wwinter

Yours tops were horrible :-( dress length tunics made out of nasty material. And they were supposed to send me a free returns things and didn't.
Swimsuit nice though!

Dreamcometrue the returns sticker is part of the delivery note. It's not particular clear that's what it is but it is. I returned something today using it.

polyhymnia · 15/09/2014 22:19

Sorry they were horrible but not too surprised - Yours to me give the impression on their site of being cheap and nasty looking, though I admit I've never tried any in RL.

Fairylea · 15/09/2014 22:21

That's a shame you didn't like the tops. I do think their quality is very hit and miss. Some things I've returned straight away and some things I've loved and worn for years! I am a sahm though so I don't need to look super smart or anything, just comfortable and hopefully a bit trendy / pretty. I guess it's all trial and error!

Firstly. Congrats on becoming a mummy. Delighted for you.
Go to simply be the clothes are gorgeous.

dreamcometrue · 16/09/2014 14:47

Thanks everyone for all your loveliness about the adoption and also the advice :-)
My asos order came today. Loads better. I'm now the proud owner of skinny jeans, jeans, two tops and a dress. Well chuffed!

What do you recommend on simply be ilive I get swallowed up in the website and lose hope!

Yours is very hit & miss, like a PP said. I too have sent some things straight back & kept other bits forever, my favourite top ever is a Yours one, I've had it for 4 years and have worn it to death.
Someone said earlier that Yours don't have any stores in the South. They do, I know of shops in Romford & Lakeside & I'm sure there are others.

polyhymnia · 17/09/2014 15:02

Just updating. Had never tried Simply Be because didn't fancy them much from their site. Going down Oxford St ( the tacky end) today and saw they'd just opened a store there, so had a quick look round
The clothes were really dire - at least IMO. Cheap, nasty fabrics, horribly garish prints -nothing I'd dream of trying. Made Evans look classy. Not recommended.

slug · 17/09/2014 16:39

I poked my nose in there yesterday. It is, indeed, a temple of polyester.

polyhymnia · 17/09/2014 16:58

Ghastly !

glidingpig · 17/09/2014 20:18

I go on the Simply Be website to order Joe Browns stuff mainly, sometimes Angel Ribbons. SB's own stuff is often grim.

New Look Inspire often have good stuff. I do shop for some things in Evans because their jeans fit me quite well and I get their basic vest tops, though if you're a 20/22 on top you could get similar tops from Dorothy Perkins online (they seem to have stopped stocking size 22 in stores) for quite a bit cheaper.

And I stalk eBay like mad. :)

Ooh looks nice! Have an order of New Look coming, including that top!

I have found Simply Be expensive (compared to other high street stores) and really poor quality. I bought a batch of their maternity wear as plus-size mat stuff was so hard to find and it didn't fair well at all.

I think the key with online is to get yourself an interest free credit card (or use your own money if you can afford to spend it and wait for the refund) and order tonnes as it is difficult to judge what things look like. And order both sizes if you might fall between 2.

I generally order £000s worth. 1 or 2 things looks ok, the rest go back.

NoMoreHappyMrsChicken · 20/09/2014 14:27

Someone mentioned Lindy Bop on another thread. Haven't tried them yet.

I've got a few Lady V dresses (the plus size ones) which are lovely with ballet flats and can be worn all year round.

I have to wave a hand in defense of Evans tights though. Everything else there is awful but the tights are fab!

Have just bought tethers first two recommendations!
