I've NC'd that many times I sometimes forget who I am IRL ;)

I need to go through my colours again and really try to understand them as a set rather than individually. Thanks!

JanaOfTheJungle · 21/08/2014 09:38

Love those dresses, thank you so much. They are tres gamine!

Because I am quite norky I don't usually go for high necks, but they can be balanced out by a vertical stripe or some to draw attention lower. So I think the Biden pink dress might work but I'm unsure about the others. Might try them on anyway though!

As an aside, I'm wearing Nails Inc 'The Thames' today and it is lovely. Grey with slight purply-blue undertones.

JanaOfTheJungle · 21/08/2014 09:57

And I have tried some patterned trousers in the past but I think the print has to be very small or it doesn't look right on me. Might look for some pinstripe or herringbone trousers!

Theoldhag · 21/08/2014 10:31

Can any of you lovely ladies help here

I am sure that with your help the op can get out of her rut and start to feel better about herself.

MrsPixieMoo · 21/08/2014 14:28

Ooh theoldhag thank you for linking to my thread. Queencardigan suggested I join you over here. What a fabulous thread. I've been having a browse (which I will get back to in the twilight feeding hours) and would love any help. Thank you again for pointing my thread out to the stylish winters.

ThePerfectNegroni · 21/08/2014 16:16

MrsPixieMoo congratulations on your new baby! And you are doing better than most people with a newborn- I couldn't speak whole sentences, never mind type them! Don't be too hard on yourself. And when thinking of wearing three colours, remember baby sick is white and therefore counts as one of your colours.

I've got a new nail polish today- no 7 galaxy gel-look. It's meant to be a good dupe of a chanel one. It's a slightly deeper metallic version of damson (no 20) and is going to be fab this winter.

ThePerfectNegroni · 21/08/2014 16:25

We were discussing colour ratings and what type of winter it makes you the other day. I got my book out. I'm a sultry winter.
My 100% * * colours are-
Indigo 7 Navy 9 Damson 20 Burgundy 21 Pine green 29
And my 75% * * colours are-
Grey 4 Royal purple 8 Lobelia 12 Fuchsia 15 Raspberry 19 Chinese blue 25 Dark emerald 28
My lowest ranked colours are-
Stone, cerise, acid yellow, ice pink, ice aqua and ice lemon.

cardigal · 21/08/2014 19:02

The neutrals - navy/grey/black aren't ** so what am I meant to do for neutrals?

My ** are indigo/carmine/pine green/charcoal/fuchsia/damson

I'm a sultry too negroni with different ** Confused

fooogle · 21/08/2014 19:52

mrspixie congrats! And welcome.
I'm stuck nursing for ages (long story) but I tend to go for vests under usual tops and cardis? Is not v exciting but cheaper than lots of nursing tops? Had one mothercare top but wore it loads.
Scarves can be handy when feeding and could be your colour pop?

MrPop · 21/08/2014 20:31

MrsPixie I forgot to say congrats - was too focussed on the clothes Grin

augbh1 gives free postage at me and em, but for orders over £100

QueenCardigan · 21/08/2014 21:07

I like the look of that polish perfect.

Do you think anyone gets ** for acid yellow or ice lemon? I think I got a tick for shoes/belts for them.

I'm off on holiday tomorrow and going to try and stay off the internet but I look forward to catching up with your chats /purchases on my return.

pinkflaming0 · 21/08/2014 21:31

I can't imagine anyone with white skin getting * for acid yellow or ice yellow Queen. I can see acid yellow being * for someone with black skin though maybe.

Interestingly the swatch is a perfect match for a strapless top I've had for years and couldn't really understand hwy it seemed to suit me. It's only a tick for accessories for me but with the top being strapless then there's plenty of skin between it and my face!

I would however describe the top as green not yellow though the swatch looks yellow - weird.

I also bought some shorts in the same shade this summer and loved them. Great with all my winter coloured t-shirts.

NowhereNow · 21/08/2014 22:37

For breastfeeding, like Fooogle, I use ordinary jersey tops that you can either pull up or down and a scarf in case you feel like you want some extra coverage. I used to double layer in the early days to protect modesty but then got much more blasé about it Grin Wrap dresses are often good for BF too.

I love nearly all the bags on this site: Leather Store but unfortunately there aren't that many winter-friendly colours and the hardwear is normally gold toned.

There's an Etsy store, so wondering if she'd do a custom order - the purple looks like it might be a winter shade. But I can't decide which bag is my favourite...

MissScatterbrain · 22/08/2014 07:38

Charcoal and indigo are neutrals.

I can do a bit of yellow - my DD has a few things in neon yellow and looks great when she teams this colour with navy, chinese blue, emerald and purple.

Never worn nursing tops - I wore ordinary t-shirts and loose tops that I could easily pull up. No dresses though.

MrsPixieMoo · 22/08/2014 11:38

Thank you ladies, for the congratulations and inspiration. I've bought vests in black, white and grey and found a charcoal skirt to fit my post baby figure for 99p on eBay. Hooray.

Decided to 'invest' in some fabulous cardigans that I will leave open and then button up when I'm svelte again.

fooogle · 23/08/2014 19:47

So today, black t, straight navy jeans, damson cardi, navy converse. Bit sultry really for the jewel that I am Wink but red 'big red apple' opi nails.
Bought a navy and emerald drapey top cum cardi thing in charity rummaging today. Good colours for my ratings... Grin

ThePerfectNegroni · 23/08/2014 21:28

Where was the damson cardi from? I'd quite like one.

They have some lovely knitwear in TK Maxx at the moment, in lovely winter shades. I saw Ghost, Clements Riberio, Kew, Crew and others. Unfortunately I didn't get anything as they were all round necks and I need a scoop or v-neck.

pinkflaming0 · 23/08/2014 22:13

Saw a damson/burgundy cardi in Dorothy Perkins the other day. Round neck I think.

Burgundy jeggings, burgundy patent ballet flats, the bright pink Oasis top linked to way up thread and silver bracelet today. Grey jersey blazer when I went out but it didn't really go with the top style wise.

Was in John Lewis and looked at the Whistles Ella blazer. Not sure about the texture and maybe a bit short in the body. Not sure it's worth nearly four times the price of my H&M one. No 'Lenas' around. I think my search continues...

DD (8) did see a bright pink Ted Baker dress (it's brighter in real life) and said 'That would really suit you Mummy'. I don't think I'd have occasion to wear it though and didn't even look at the price. Waist would probably be up round my ribs anyway!

pinkflaming0 · 23/08/2014 22:24

Berry cardi from Dorothy Perkins

fooogle · 24/08/2014 00:05

theperfect, I think it's damson anyway! It is a landsend cArdi, last years though I think. V neck cable knit cotton.

MrPop · 24/08/2014 08:17

Fooogle you always do so well in charity shops! The ones round me are not very inspiring.

I am trying to have a bit of a spending break as I have a lot of clothes. Am looking forward to 're-discovering' my autumn and winter clothes, and then seeing if I need to plug any colour gaps.

My merino jumper arrived the other day. It has gone back. Lovely colour but it is very thin and also the M was a bit snug. It just wasn't quite right for me, but I do think the colour is a good one.

I've been influenced by QueenC but I think I need to add some cardigans to my wardrobe - might wait til next summer though as they are a useful cover up when you just need a light layer.

Boring outfits from me at the moment. Yesterday was in black maxi skirt, navy t, pale blue denim jacket and blue sandals. Today am thinking jeans and emerald jacket, not sure what with yet.

cardigal · 24/08/2014 12:17

I'm in a navy patterned jersey maxi skirt, fuchsia vest and navy linen cardigan plus flip flops. Easy dressing for a Sunday :)

I need a lesson on crew neck cardigans, I always feel so buttoned-up so tend to wear V's.

MissScatterbrain · 24/08/2014 16:24

I prefer crew neck cardigans - I don't wear these all buttoned up - just the middle 3/4 buttons.

Wearing cobalt vest with silver grey slouchy jumper and grey skinnies. Went shopping and GAP has 30% off everything (i.e current stock) so had a look - spotted a lovely dark red merino jumper & dark purple merino cardigan as well as lots of dark navy and grey jumpers/tops. Was very good and restrained myself to a pair of new dark jeans for going out and smart casual occasions.

SorrelForbes · 24/08/2014 20:47

Just catching up on all your lovely purchases. I've moved house and been on holiday hence no shopping for me. However, I'm now living near a much better range of shops so watch this space!

My holiday wardrobe was carefully planned around navy/white/pink/blue (stupidly I left behind my new Azul blue Mango dress by mistake!) and as per my Style Day advice I avoided anything fussy or too girly. I took tailored shorts, slim fit t-shirts/vest tops and a couple of plain cotton dresses (like this. However, next to the other (females) in the group, I felt quite under dressed. Every evening they all had lovely, floral, floaty maxi-dresses or palazzo pants and looked really glam. I know that that look doesn't suit me but it did make me feel that I hadn't got my summer wardrobe quite right IYSWIM? I think that I just can't do casual!

The only items that anyone commented on in an admiring way were my Banana Republic shorts (elephant print) and my three bikinis, one of which was the Bravissimo Black and White polka dot one that I think I linked to on an ealier thread.

Help. Sad

MissScatterbrain · 24/08/2014 21:41

Did you wear nice sandals and necklaces in the evening? I usually pack cheap but pretty costume jewellery and pretty sandals for evening wear as my outfits tend to be plain as well.

I hate maxi dresses and palazzo trousers on me - probably the gamine in me as I prefer more structured/tailored clothes.
