Opinions please on this slightly different wedding dress (other suggestions welcome)

Would love to hear opinions on this wedding dress. It's sold as an evening dress rather than a wedding dress but what are your thoughts on it being worn as a wedding dress? Obviously it is not white, but it is still pale and weddingy, I think?

I know this might sound silly, but I am worried that if I get a high street dress (this dress is from Phase 8) that is not technically a wedding dress (and is not even white), one of the guests might wear the same thing? Am I being paranoid?!

I'm size 6-8, 5 Foot 7 tall and in my early 30s
I have cool or clear winter colourings (dark brown hair and pale skin)
I suppose I kind of have Kate Middleton's figure although I am far uglier than her

Any other suggestions welcome, although please bear in mind I am quite flat chested don't suit strapless, so anything strapless is ruled out. Ditto anything low cut. Ideally I would like something slinky!

Budget is up to £500.

Thanks Thanks

I love it. With your height, build and colouring you will look stunning.

And don't let me hear you saying you're uglier than anyone, young lady,

tethersend · 29/06/2014 09:13

Actually, I think that's lovely as a wedding dress.

this too.

AwkwardSquad · 29/06/2014 09:15

It's beautiful.

scarletforya · 29/06/2014 09:17

Gold is really good with dark brown hair. I love!

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 29/06/2014 09:20

Ooh I like it. Very jenny packham.

TheHoundsBitch · 29/06/2014 09:23

Gorgeous, wear it! It looks enough like a wedding dress that I would not consider wearing it to someone else's wedding, and I think most people would feel the same.

SinglePringle · 29/06/2014 09:23

WEAR THAT DRESS!

It is seriously one of the most beautiful wedding gowns I've ever seen and totally the sort of thing I would wear (am 5'8", size 10 hourglass so would suit my boobs but short waist / long legs combo).

Honestly, it's made me want to find a man to marry it's that amazing!

Classic, stylish, individual, show-stopping without being showy.

Can you tell I like it?!

SinglePringle · 29/06/2014 09:26

And I'm gobsmacked that it's Phase 8! I've never ever seen anything I like in that shop!

tethersend · 29/06/2014 09:27

Yy, TheHoundsBitch is right- nobody in their right mind would wear that to a wedding unless they were INSANE.

tethersend · 29/06/2014 09:27

Apart from the bride of course Grin

tethersend · 29/06/2014 09:29

In fact, I think it's better than the three I've linked to. Buy it now before it goes out of stock.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 29/06/2014 09:29

It's gorgeous and, from how you describe yourself, would look really elegant. Go for it.

LizzieMint · 29/06/2014 09:33

It's gorgeous, quite Art Deco-ish and very very stylish.

GiniCooper · 29/06/2014 09:33

It is beautiful, really.

Yama · 29/06/2014 09:35

I think it's lovely and that you should go for it.

Badvoc2 · 29/06/2014 09:39

Thanks so much everyone! I actually just stumbled across it when I was shopping in Oxford Street yesterday - it was on the mannequin and I really liked it - wasn't even wedding dress shopping.

TheHoundsBitch and tethersend I agree I would never wear something that glam to a wedding, I would normally just wear a knee length dress (unless I was the bride or bridesmaid)

AndIFeedEmGunpowder yes I agree its quite Jenny Packham. My dream dress is actually the Jenny Packham 'Joy' dress in gold, but way out of my price range, even second hand they go for way over £1000 Sad

Oh and it actually looks a lot nicer in real life than in the pictures too Grin

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, however given your description of you cool skin colouring, you definitely need to try it on as it the background is quite a warm colour if you are a HoC winter.

summersgoingtooquickly · 29/06/2014 10:01

I have not been officially diagnosed as a winter, but that's what I think I am (pale skin, brown hair, bluey grey eyes).

Also the colour in real life is more translucent - the dress looks a lot more pinky in the pictures than in real life. It looks more neutral in real life
