Opinions please on this slightly different wedding dress (other suggestions welcome)

Would love to hear opinions on this wedding dress. It's sold as an evening dress rather than a wedding dress but what are your thoughts on it being worn as a wedding dress? Obviously it is not white, but it is still pale and weddingy, I think?

I know this might sound silly, but I am worried that if I get a high street dress (this dress is from Phase 8) that is not technically a wedding dress (and is not even white), one of the guests might wear the same thing? Am I being paranoid?!

I'm size 6-8, 5 Foot 7 tall and in my early 30s
I have cool or clear winter colourings (dark brown hair and pale skin)
I suppose I kind of have Kate Middleton's figure although I am far uglier than her

Any other suggestions welcome, although please bear in mind I am quite flat chested don't suit strapless, so anything strapless is ruled out. Ditto anything low cut. Ideally I would like something slinky!

Budget is up to £500.

Thanks Thanks

It's gorgeous. You'll look amazing.
I do know what you mean about worrying you'll look like another guest but that's not a guest dress x

MrsLettuce · 29/06/2014 10:05

Oh YES, it's beautiful order it now!

tethersend · 29/06/2014 10:09

Umm... I like it better than the Jenny Packham Joy dress.

MrsLettuce · 29/06/2014 10:11

Yup, me too.

summersgoingtooquickly · 29/06/2014 10:30

No, I do prefer to the Jenny Packham Joy dress, but that's not really an option unless I win the lottery! There is a second hand Joy dress for sale on Preloved at the moment for £1,900 (I understand they cost almost £3k new) but even second hand is 4x my budget and then I would have to pay for alterations as unlikely to find one in my exact size.

However, I also really love the Phase Eight dress!

Sorry that should say "I do prefer the Jenny Packham Joy dress"

I think it's lovely and fabulous for a wedding dress. Very old school hollywood elegance. Very Lauren Bacall.

Desertrunner · 29/06/2014 11:02

Gorgeous.

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 29/06/2014 11:06

Wow that's a stunning dress. Definitely buy it.

squoosh · 29/06/2014 12:16

Oh wow, I love it! It's so elegant and a bit 1930's.

I'm generally a bit underwhelmed by people's wedding dresses (sorry brides!) but that is just gorgeous.

SuburbanCrofter · 29/06/2014 14:03

It's gorgeous. Buy it quickly!

I picture it with your hair up in one of those French braids that frames your face, then with white flower buds scattered through. (Sorry I can't describe it properly!)

burnishedsilver · 29/06/2014 15:15

Its not a suitable dress for a wedding guest. It's perfect for the bride :-)
Unless you've told guests to dress for the Oscars no one will have a dress like that.

It's beautiful. You'll look amazing.

I love it! I wore a Jenny Packham dress for my wedding (a sample, luckily, as I'd fallen for a £1500 one!) and it does look like a similar style.

I doubt a guest would wear it, unless you're having a super posh and glamourous wedding. It's quite blingy for a wedding if you're not the bride.

KoalaDownUnder · 29/06/2014 15:21

BUY THAT INCREDIBLE DRESS.

Sorry for shouting. Grin

Wishfulmakeupping · 29/06/2014 15:25

Yes please buy its stunning. I'm currently wedding dress hunting and if I had the figure I would wear that gorgeous!

HenI5 · 29/06/2014 15:25

Fabulous.

It sounds like you're going to look amazing Thanks

BloodFlower · 29/06/2014 15:56

Gorgeous.

Jenda · 29/06/2014 16:02

I can't see pics, on the app. Please could someone tell me what the name of the dress is so I can have a nosy? Smile

Drinkingpimmsinmygarden · 29/06/2014 16:48

Phase Eight Kensington dress
It's an evening dress from their collection 8 rather than a wedding dress

MummyBeerest · 29/06/2014 16:57

I love this dress and wish I could get married again so I could wear it.
