How much do you pay your hairdresser?

I currently use a hairdresser that charges £68 for a full head of foils, cut and blowdry. Then £9 for toner so £77 total.

Seven years ago I used to pay £120 so I think this is pretty good. I've also found places that aren't so good but charge around £30/40.

How much do you pay so I can compare if I'm paying too much please?! I don't think I am

Last time I had a full head of foils, cut and blow dry, she charged me £30 - but my 17 yr old ds also had a cut in the middle of that (whilst I was cooking) so technically, that wasn't all for me.
(She's mobile) - I'm Midlands if that makes a difference

I pay around £75 (£80 with tip) for a full head of foils, cut blow-dry and straighten.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 04/05/2014 18:22

75 for half head of foils (2 colours) cut and blow dry

MrsDavidBowie · 04/05/2014 18:22

I have roots and cut every 5-6 weeks..about £89

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 04/05/2014 18:25

I have colours, cut and blow dry every 6-8 weeks. Costs around £120(sometimes a bit cheaper, depending on whether or not they have a "special offer" on the go). I live in the South East

Raskova · 04/05/2014 18:28

Ooh where abouts in the midlands???

£195 is crazy! Is that a fancy pants place?

I used to have a mobile lady come for &50 but she got pregnant and I lost touch and it means I have to tidy my house to perfection and I can't be bothered

I think what you are paying is about right for highlight and cut.

I have had some that have cost nearly twice as much and only been marginally if at all better.
I have had some cheaper at £30 - £40 and really not been that impressed, not as much attention to detail, left me getting really obvious roots earlier, poorer quality of cut etc.
I have been happy with the last few I have had at about £65 - £90.

I am sure there are many professionals who can do a better job for less money, but also I think of what I pay in terms of paying for someones skill per hour.
So if I spend 3 hrs in the salon being treated by a trained professional and it costs me £70-£90 I think that's about right depending on the experience/grade of the hairdresser and the size of the salon as they have overheads to cover etc.

£80, full set foils, cut, dry. Also in SE but I drive half an hour north to get it cheaper, she used to do my hair at posho Champneys which was £180! Otherwise I'd never have found her. I only go every 10 weeks.

Raskova · 04/05/2014 18:33

I shall not mention how often I've been going as of late

four month gap the last two times

I'm sexy and I know it

Recently, I paid £36 for wash and haircut, and previously nearly £100 for colour, wash and cut.

I used to gave someone at hone, who could cut and colour, plus cut children's hair for. £80.

Dancingwiththedrummer · 04/05/2014 19:46

I pay £48 for my roots (foils) a trim and blow dry. I think it was £89 for a full head last time I asked I'm in West Yorkshire

mrssmith79 · 04/05/2014 19:49

£26, cut and blow dry - I always round up to £30 though (he's mobile).

Chottie · 04/05/2014 19:51

100 pounds for full set of foils + 50 pounds for cut and blow dry. This is in Cambridge.

MrsBungle · 04/05/2014 19:51

£75 for half head and cut. East Midlands

thepurplepenguin · 04/05/2014 22:01

£120 for two colours of highlights, toner, cut, blowdry and GHDs. I've only had it coloured once in the last 4 years though.

It makes me want to weep but it looks good. It's pretty much market rate round here. Anything cheaper tends to be shite. Even my freelance, works-out-of-home hairdresser is charging £40 for a cut and finish!!
