I can't remember the first but I remembering adoring, and belting out with friends, to Annie Lennox - the album with thorn in my side, Guns n Roses- 14 years, loved that what we have here is a failure to communicate, Blister in the Sun. The Cure.

Still love all those when they get played.

Dh collects vinyl lots of the same bands in different venues. They sound the same to me.

Lovely APC Santa, it would really suit you.

Amber you're made for 80s reboot. I still love stone wash reboot, will see about that.

Shop yes streaming. Ah I didn't realise you had LoveFilm, that does more recent releases? I like netflix for their series, excellent quality. Also Mad Men is on there.

MarshaBrady · 12/05/2014 07:57

And when we were very little we'd make up dances to 9-5, what a way to make a living.

shopafrolic · 12/05/2014 08:17

QueenC SNAP! From Woolworths!

LinusDKD · 12/05/2014 08:17

marsha my Oasis shoes have arrived and are lovely but a bit on the small side.

I went for the 37/4 as I am normally a 37.5/4.5 and they are small but I'm hoping they will stretch a bit when I wear them. as I can't be arsed to return them to Asos

The shape and colour is lovely though.

Still no sign of my pencil skirts that I ordered on Asos before the shoes. Hmm

MarshaBrady · 12/05/2014 08:23

Thanks Linus, that's good to know, the 6 will be too small for me, will look out for returns on the 7.

Stokey · 12/05/2014 09:30

Ooh my first single was the Welsh Elvis ... Shakin' Stevens "Green Door"
"There's an old piano and they play it loud behind the Green door, green door,
Don't know what they're doing but they laugh a lot..."

Also loved Violent Femmes and The Cure Marsha - Love Cats was our first dance at our wedding.

And yes Dry the rap bit in Wham Rap is classic

"A white cool cat with a trilby hat, maybe leather and studs is where you're at.."

Shop we have Netflix and stream it direct through the smart telly - its a bargain for £6/month. As well as the good grown-up stuff, there's also a lot of kids films. Spent yesterday afternoon watching Mary Poppins cuddled up with the Dds on the sofa.

MarshaBrady · 12/05/2014 10:06

Violent Femmes that's it! Loved that.

santamarianovella · 12/05/2014 10:13

I think mine was vanessa paradis joe le taxi, I was about 5,when it came out,and I couldn't stop singing the song,my dad finally bought me a cassette ,remember those? And I would listen to it non stop for hours in the kitchen,we had a cat,who would get up and walk away every time I put the song on! , my dad video recorded me singing it,along with France gall Ella Ella! Good times!

OneLittleLady · 12/05/2014 10:26

morning all. Bit nervous as I'm starting a songwriting course later on today. Actually doing a few short courses in preparation for September. Will help relieve some of my boredom as well as I'll have a reason to get out of the house. Smile

Wearing a green and white polka dot satin tea dress today with opaques as it's a bit chilly here. Will add leather ballet flats and a stone mac later when I go out

LinusDKD · 12/05/2014 11:31

Just ordered the Oasis shoes in a 5 as the 4 is just too small. Lucky I did because there were only size 5 shoes left!

I remember France Gall santa! And Joe le Taxi!

I used to try and copy Mel&Kim's dancemoves to Respectable Hmm

shopafrolic · 12/05/2014 11:58

Just realised I'm in London on sat if anyone fancies a coffee?

shopafrolic · 12/05/2014 11:58

Good luck today one. Sounds like a fab thing to do.

OneLittleLady · 12/05/2014 12:01

thanks Shop I'm both nervous and excited! I start another short course at the end of the month as well. Trying to smother the nervousness by telling myself it's all necessary prep for September. I'm determined to succeed so I need to do these to get me into the swing of studying and also to give me some confidence which I am seriously lacking right now. Smile

shopafrolic · 12/05/2014 12:19

You were brave enough to come all the way to London and meet a bunch of strangers, you 'll be fine!

OneLittleLady · 12/05/2014 12:25

that's true shop! I think I'm so nervous because everything's come along all at once, what with my course and DP's job offer. Everything hit within the same week so it's a lot to take in! Hoping we hear more about the job this week, there's a lot to sort out between now and September so we need to make a start but can't until we get the details of the job and when he's expected to be in London full time.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/05/2014 12:42

Hi all

You'll be fine One, hope you have fun, everything's happening for you at the moment which is great!

So Aldo is resolved, they agreed to refund me finally. But I paid via PayPal as none of my cards would work on their site (another annoyance) which reminded me another reason I won't buy from them again. To be fair it was mostly Royal Mail that messed up but Aldo didn't offer me any goodwill and took as long as possible to sort my measly £35 Hmm At least it's over!

Linus you lucky thing, that keyring is gorgeous!

santa lovely links, you love a bit of APC don't you? Smile

Nice one on the hair liberty, I'm sure I've said this before but my sister had the same transformation and was so happy after.

I would be in for a karaoke MU Wink oh and my first Now album was Now 40 and my first single was... Blush Hanson Mmm Bop Blush still love a sing along to it tbh

shopafrolic · 12/05/2014 14:55

Exciting times One

shopafrolic · 12/05/2014 14:58

Blair glad you got your refund in the end. I used to sing along to Hanson too.....

Fedupnagging · 12/05/2014 16:33

<a class="break-all" href="//Twww.atterleyroad.com/2750-cotu-classic-trainers-87.html?_$ja=tsid:42018&utm_source=linkshare&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=TnL5HPStwNw&siteID=TnL5HPStwNw-GfcpnV2vKO6TdFf2S__tNAhe" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> These arrived today and I love the cream colouring. They are very generously sized but are fine for me.

First single was Una Paloma Blanca (the original version) bought at the same time as first album Top of the Pops 1975. We have friends who have kept their original turntable so occasionally we lug all our LP' round there and have the best evenings. Usually listen to late 70's/80's as it takes us back to school discos. First proper kiss was to 3 times a lady.
Blush
Hope you enjoyed your course today One. Where do you get your inspiration from?

OneLittleLady · 12/05/2014 16:50

It was good thanks fedup inspiration? everything I guess, how I feel, what I've seen, people I've spoken to or observed when I'm out. The tiniest little thing can aprk a line off here and there, not everything comes together all at once, sometimes it's just one line in a notebook that I go back to months later when it finally works or sometimes it's a bit of poetry that gets reworked

MarshaBrady · 12/05/2014 17:25

Blair so glad you got a refund. About time!

One sounds great. You'll be fine, I know it Smile

I've got another brief tomorrow, so the stars may have aligned I get paid and I've got work, never happens.

I'm looking for some worky stuff, still stuff that I can wear outside work as it's only a few meetings then the rest at home. I'm going to put links up to things I like but not in my size or whatever, as I look,

Bloch yellow flats

I so wish I had seen this bargain earlier. Ganni skirt a bargain, but L left only. Still someone could size up.

James Perse cotton top, good discount.

MarshaBrady · 12/05/2014 17:49

I don't wear heels to work anymore really, too uncomfortable Kors heels, snake print and stone colour too.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 12/05/2014 17:50

Oh, these trips down memory lane!

I too was a huuuuge Duran Duran fan (John Taylor was my dream man), Aha and a brief flirtation with Five Star - the shame!. I suppose the late 80s/early 90s were fun as they were my coming of age years, but I looked my best in the late 90s when I was working so hard I weighed about 7 1/2 stone, had a six pack and rocked a Natalie Imbruglia haircut and All Saints combats/cropped tops (I was in my latter 20s). Now I have the best wardrobe I've ever had but I'm too decrepit to do it proper justice (getting old requires so much more maintenance).
I can remember as a child in the 70s I had some amazing clothes as my uncle (also my highly indulgent godfather) would buy me exquisite dresses from Harrods, although I was painfully self-conscious and just wanted to dress in C&A and Mothercare like everybody else. My mum was no better - she shopped for my clothes at a boutique on Fulham Rd called Pollyanna and La Cicogna on Kensington a High St. I blame them for setting me on this path...

MarshaBrady · 12/05/2014 17:59

Those clothes sound beautiful Grumpy, do you still have them?
