Thanks to everyone who helped me on my other thread about a dress.
My next question is-can I wear this
www.asos.com/Native-Rose/Native-Rose-Shift-Dress-in-Lace-Cutwork/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3954457&SearchQuery=lace%20shift&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=-1&sort=-1&clr=White

to a wedding or is it really not the done thing to wear white?
This Confused is a hopeful face because I'm all frocked out!

No, sorry, not white!

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 11/04/2014 18:18

I agree, not white for a wedding.

Twistiesandshout · 11/04/2014 18:18

Love it, but no sorry :(

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 18:18

Shiterama-thought you might say that!

OP posts:
MardyBra · 11/04/2014 18:18

Not unless you're the bride! Sorry.

Pinkandwhite · 11/04/2014 18:18

Sorry but I definitely don't think it's ok to wear white to morons else's wedding. Gorgeous dress though!

FragglerockAmpersand · 11/04/2014 18:19

I'm normally pretty laissez-faire about 'wedding rules' for clothes & would normally say yes, even for white/mostly white dresses - but a pure white lace dress?! Now I think you KNOW you're being silly!

HaPPy8 · 11/04/2014 18:19

Im sorry but i don't think its appropriate to wear as a guest :( Can we help you find something else?

Funnyfoot · 11/04/2014 18:19

It is very pretty and unless the bride is wearing red/blue/pink/gold etc it would be a no for me sorry. Not sure if that rule still applies though these days.

fivefoottwowitheyesofblue · 11/04/2014 18:20

It's 2014, I think the 'can't wear white to a wedding' is a bit dated tbh. You know the bride and groom - if you think they are likely to be put out then don't wear it.....

Tis a lovely dress if you are slim and tanned

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 18:20

I wouldn't say she's a moron Pinkandwhite-she's a very nice girl Grin

OP posts:
Trazzletoes · 11/04/2014 18:22

Well, you could wear it. But I would expect sideways glances and mutters.

There's no way I would wear that dress to a wedding, sorry. It's lovely though!

Snargaluff · 11/04/2014 18:26

Yeah it's very nice but I just don't think you can wear it! Is that the sort of style you're going for though?

trixymalixy · 11/04/2014 18:28

It's lovely. But not for a wedding guest to wear, sorry!!

Could you have it dyed?

burnishedsilver · 11/04/2014 18:37

It's gorgeous, but no.

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 19:29

Thanks Snargaluff but that's a bit too fitted really.
I've spotted this but I'm not sure about ordering from Bloomingdales...

www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/bcbgmaxazria-dress-diane-oversize-lace?ID=1001607&CategoryID=21683&LinkType=#fn=spp=27&ppp=96&sp=8&rid=9&spc=3121%20items%20in%20Dresses

and it's "quite" expensive Hmm

OP posts:
TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 19:30

Could I dye it? It's 100% polyester unfortunately which isn't ideal, but hey. Beggars can't be choosers.

How about this instead?

Gorgeous dress though.

Why don't you ask the bride? I wore a white dress to a friends wedding, I'd seen her dress it was long and cream, mine was knee length, we look completely different and there was no way anyone could mistake me for the bride. I showed her my dressed and she was absolutely fine, she's not that particularly bothered about stuff like that anyway.

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 19:58

I don't really know her that well bettykt and I don't want to make her uncomfortable.
That Mint Velvet one is gorgeous NoGoatsToe. But wouldn't it still be a bit "bridey"?

OP posts:
Tallypet · 11/04/2014 20:05

It's a beautiful dress but why wear white to a wedding? For me it was that one 'special day' when I got to wear my white dress. There are tons of other colors to choose from.
A guest came to my wedding not only wearing a white dress but a tiara too which is pretty Hmm

bettykt · 11/04/2014 20:11

Ah yes if you don't her that well then play it safe. My friend is my best friend and I knew she wouldn't be bothered at all. The Mint Velvet one and Bloomingdales ones are lovely.
