Thanks to everyone who helped me on my other thread about a dress.
My next question is-can I wear this
www.asos.com/Native-Rose/Native-Rose-Shift-Dress-in-Lace-Cutwork/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3954457&SearchQuery=lace%20shift&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=-1&sort=-1&clr=White

to a wedding or is it really not the done thing to wear white?
This Confused is a hopeful face because I'm all frocked out!

I don't think the blush colour Mint Velvet one is too bridey - but the white one probably is. I think it's a stunning colour and wish I had a wedding to wear it to.

MorrisZapp · 11/04/2014 20:52

Those dresses are v short! If you're a very lithe young lovely then go for that length. If not, Phase Eight is that way...>

:)

NoGoatsToe · 11/04/2014 20:53

Or … how about this… ?www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Lace_Keyhole_Dress_/pp/P_27673.html

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 20:55

Tallypet. I get what your saying but it was more the style than the colour really. It's exactly the kind of thing I wear but I realise the error of my ways now!
I'll go and try the Mint Velvet one on. It is very pretty.
I still love the Bloomingdales one but I feel a bit meh if it's not right and I have to return it to America..
Thanks everyone for all your input.

I loved it until the size l is a 12. I'm a 12 and totally an m.

No white to a wedding

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 21:01

MorrisZapp I'm definitely neither lithe nor young but that's what I wear! Maybe I'm kidding myself that I look like Alexa Chung but actually channel Nancy Dell' olio (sp)
NoGoatsToe - that ones a bit long for me. I'm a midget Alexa Chung Hmm

If you really love the style then I would buy it and dye it tbh.
I wore white to a sort after the wedding, wedding summer party.

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 21:06

WhatsTheWordHummingbird - that's lovely. I'm wondering whether I can pull off mint green though. I should try it on shouldn't I?
I'm also very taken with this

"It's 2014, I think the 'can't wear white to a wedding' is a bit dated tbh."

Judging from the number of posts on mn regarding wearing white to a wedding I think the general consensus is still that it is inappropriate.

TheBrewster · 11/04/2014 21:08

Ineedsomeinspiration - do you think polyester would dye OK.
Not dyed anything since I was a charity shop student shopper. If it'd work then I would definitely do it.

Ooh yes that blue one is lovely too. Maybe you need a trip to reiss

I will get myself along to Reiss tomorrow I think.
Totally off the brief-what about this. Will people think I'm a bridesmaid rather than the bride Hmm

I don't know, but I don't particularly like the style of that dress. Sorry.

WhatsTheWordHummingbird · 12/04/2014 09:28

Mmm its a bit too "bridal" still

ineedsomeinspiration · 12/04/2014 09:29

Yes you can, you can buy this on ebay or amazon.

burnishedsilver · 12/04/2014 09:42

I have my doubts about it taking a dye well. I've had the experience before with lace where the lace took the dye very well but the lining didnt. It looked a mess.

babybarrister, what a lovely offer. My BF is coming up for Easter and lives close to Harvey Nicks so I will send her in!
Thankyou though-great idea.

Nope. Unless you are the bride or hate the bride

I agree with Kopik

hellymelly · 12/04/2014 12:11

No. Not white. White or black very bad form for a wedding. I once wore a cream suit, when I was really stuck, but had a coloured shirt/shoes/hat so it didn't look at all bridal. Its a lovely dress though, sorry!
