Thanks to everyone who helped me on my other thread about a dress.
My next question is-can I wear this

to a wedding or is it really not the done thing to wear white?
This Confused is a hopeful face because I'm all frocked out!

Depends on the wedding, if you know the bride is wearing a long dress and the bridesmaids have full length or waisted full skirted colourful satin outfits, then I can't see a problem.

I've been to two very informal, bride in ordinary summer clothes weddings where that might have been a problem.

Except neither bride would have given a flying fuck. If they had cared about that sort of stuff they wouldn't have been in cotton dresses less showy than most of their guests.

(Certainly less showy, in the second case, than me and the DDs as we had outfits to use for a mor formal wedding later that summer)

How about this?

tethersend · 12/04/2014 14:07

Or this?

Don't try and dye a lace dress, polyester is very difficult to dye, it often comes out a much paler colour, and the lining will dye a different shade to the dress. Absolutely not a risk worth taking.

Pixiepie-thankyou, but I feel like they're all just a bit too "grown up" for me. As someone hurtling towards her forties I realise the ridiculousness of that comment Hmm

tehersend- &otherstories site wouldn't work for me yesterday so thankyou for those. There's something a bit odd about the sleeves on them both though. I think they'd swamp me.
I am however quite taken with

It's not my style but I wouldn't think twice about wearing it to a wedding. It's not long, not overly formal and looks nothing like a traditional wedding dress (to me, anyway).

I've worn both black and cream to various weddings and have never had an eyebrow raised nor been muttered at!

Pixiepie · 12/04/2014 16:34

What a beautiful colour the mulberry silk dress is but it is a weird pinchy design at the waist. I know what you mean about the too 'grown' up look. There are certain things i would not wear an i am in my mid forties!!!

Ted Baker always have lovely dresses for weddings, I saw a lovely one with scalloped layers. Cant link though!!

I would be bearing towards just above the knee as the shortest length of dress, you will be in a church I presume? The length of things you've been suggesting would be suitable for someone super skinny in their late teens!
