Getting really fed up of looking for a new foundation to replace Double Wear

So I've been using Estee Lauder Double Wear for a while now but since they changed the formula, it does nothing for me. It flattens and dulls my complexion and even the coverage isn't as good as it used to be. I'm looking for a new foundation with good/full coverage that will give my skin a bit of a lift. I've got mainly normal skin with a bit of redness around the cheeks and nose. I got a sample of Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation today so will be trying it in the morning, but have any ex DW users got any recommendations please?

Have you tried Chantecaille Future Skin or Real Skin?! They are both brilliant.

frankietwospots · 10/03/2014 21:19

My friend uses Future Skin and says it's great. But it's bloody expensive!

Also La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation is superb. It's probably my holy grail foundation I use it fairly often.

Puddles1234 · 10/03/2014 21:21

You only need a tiny bit of Chantecaille foundations for a good result. You need to use a good brush to apply it such as the Mac 187 that's really good for achieving a airbrushed look.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra is great. Long wearing, good cover, not too 'chalky' looking.

frankietwospots · 10/03/2014 22:18

Ah, so there is a Teint Idole 'Ultra'? I didn't know that.

Any more recommendations that aren't quite so spendy?!

Clinique even better gives good coverage without being too heavy.

MissOtisRegretsMadam · 10/03/2014 22:29

I'm going to try something called supercover... It's used for Asian weddings and can be bought from Amazon or some salons sell it too.
I'm not keen on the new double wear either... Think the super cover is around same price as double wear.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/03/2014 22:31

YsL teint éclat , switched to this after using double wear for years.

50shadesofmeh · 10/03/2014 22:36

Try get some revlon whipped cream, I was looking a bit clogged up with double wear but this stuff is great alternative

robindeer · 10/03/2014 22:38

Have you tried the double wear light? That's what I switched too when they changed it and it sat like clay on my face

Gillybobs · 10/03/2014 22:45

Second the revlon whipped cream, need to get it from ebay as it's not available in the uk annoyingly, also the original clinique repairwear anti aging ( NOT the newer laser focus one) . The coverage is amazing and it has a slight dewiness. Only need a tiny bit. Seriously good stuff.

penguinplease · 10/03/2014 22:45

Revlon colour stay - same as if not better than double wear

BaconAndAvocado · 10/03/2014 22:50

Second Clinique's Even Better Foundation.

Carlyrichards · 10/03/2014 22:52

Second Revlon colour stay

HeroineChick · 10/03/2014 23:12

I have used allll the high-end ones, and used DoubleWear for years, but my absolute favourite for the past year (and possibly ever) is Rimmel 24 Foundation. It is incredible. I can't sing its praises enough.

HeroineChick · 10/03/2014 23:12

Erm, that should be Rimmel 24 Hour Foundation. Ahem.

HeroineChick · 10/03/2014 23:13

Jeebus. 25 Hour. Who knew?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/03/2014 23:23

Revlon colour stay-love love love it!

ClareBaldingsHair · 10/03/2014 23:57

How do I know which colour to try in the revlon whipped creme on eBay? I am a double wear fresco user (the old formula, 2N2)

jusdepamplemousse · 11/03/2014 06:27

I switched to Laura Mercier silk creme after double wear and loved it. Good luck!

50shadesofmeh · 11/03/2014 06:31

Silk Creme is a great foundation too I go between double wear , LM silk Creme and revlon whipped Creme , I'm nude in whipped Creme and normally wear sand in double wear

Walnut8 · 11/03/2014 06:40

Sorry if I'm getting boring (have said this on a number of similar threads now!) but Revlon Colorstay and Lancome teint idole ultra.

Walnut8 · 11/03/2014 06:43

laura mercier silk creme is supposed to be fab. I WISH this worked on my skin. maybe I should try it again ....

lemonfolly · 11/03/2014 06:59

Revlon colorstay is amazing coverage. I used the one for oily skin, stays put much better. I also don't find they do an exact colour match for me, so I buy 2 and mix them :)
