Getting really fed up of looking for a new foundation to replace Double Wear

So I've been using Estee Lauder Double Wear for a while now but since they changed the formula, it does nothing for me. It flattens and dulls my complexion and even the coverage isn't as good as it used to be. I'm looking for a new foundation with good/full coverage that will give my skin a bit of a lift. I've got mainly normal skin with a bit of redness around the cheeks and nose. I got a sample of Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation today so will be trying it in the morning, but have any ex DW users got any recommendations please?

Isn't Whipped Crème Max Fac? Mine is! Maybe they both have one called the same.
Tell you what though- it's bloody marvellous. I like a cream foundation in a dippy pot and for 8 euro (am in furrinland) this is the bollocks. After a year or so of Bourjois Health Mix and many years of high end stuff, (Dior, Lancôme, Clarins etc) this is the best to date. And leaves far more on the face cloth at the end of the day than any of the others- so stays!

I am v pale as well, and the lightest shade is perfect.

Definitely revlon only available to US market for some ridiculous reason

Max factor do a whipped cream foundation too but Revlon is much better according to reviews.

I wasn't overly impressed with MF.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 11/03/2014 10:15

Oh, I might try that next, but I love the MF one. I do find Revlon foundations a bit drying sometimes.

WholeNutt · 11/03/2014 10:16

No7 super light is really nice, I got colour matched and since then I have had a few people comment on how good my skin looks.

auldspinster · 11/03/2014 12:46

I've got a Czech foundation called Dermacol, that's available on ebay for around 6. Formula s pretty similar to Estee Lauder Maximum Cover.

MagicalHamSandwich · 11/03/2014 12:48

Yet another vote for Revlon ColorStay. IMO it's pretty much indistinguishable from the old Double Wear. Smells a bit funny when it's in the bottle, kind of like paint. The coverage is superb, though, and it's amazing value for money.

auldspinster · 11/03/2014 12:52

If you can get to the MAC pro shop in soho, their Full Coverage foundation is also very good.

FrugalFashionista · 11/03/2014 13:17

Loving Lily Lolo and Revlon Colorstay, both traditional and whipped. Bourjois Flower perfection also not bad.

Eliza22 · 11/03/2014 16:30

Lancôme Tient Idole Ultra 24 HR. Make sure it's the new 24 HR bottle. £27.50. Just Lovely.

Eliza22 · 11/03/2014 16:38

Wearing it here. Went on at 8am. Have cycled and been for a run. And generally had a busy day. Still looks more than passable! Excuse scalped look... Growing hair and it lives in an "up-do" of sorts now, all the time.

Seriously, I'm 52 and this blurs the wrinkles and makes your face fresher somehow, as the day wears on. Seriously good stuff. Quite perfumed though, but you don't notice it, after a while.

Also, should add. At my age, I've just started with the whole "flushing thing" which is inevitable. My previous foundation would melt with the hormonal flush and anything on top (blusher, mainly) would also slip-slide, all over the place. Whatever you put on top of the Lancôme 24 HR stays on top of the Lancôme 24 HR Smile

Cezella · 11/03/2014 16:50

Is Revlon Colorstay as amazing as everyone makes out? They sell it cheap in our local Factory Shop- might try it as I am so sick of my skin at the minute!

I use No7 Beautifully Matte at the minute and it's great- but it's quite expensive for the amount you get!

Eliza22 · 11/03/2014 17:47

I used to use that but found it to be a bit blotchy. Then again, I was doing a very physical job in a very centrally heated area. Not a good combination for any foundation. The good thing about Lancôme is, they have loads of shades and will give a 7 day trial for home use. I came away with 3 vials of three different shades as the SA said, I could wear any of them and it was just down to personal preference.

lovingmatleave · 11/03/2014 20:11

Thanks Eliza22 for posting a picture. Your skin looks fab and I am off tomorrow to get some samples. I have same problem as OP!

BOFtastic · 11/03/2014 20:14

Apparently Lacuna at Aldi are going to have a CC cream out next month for under a fiver, and in blind tests it has beaten all the high-end versions hands down. Gotta be worth a try! Grin

BOFtastic · 11/03/2014 20:19

Here you go.

Eliza22 · 11/03/2014 20:30

LovingMatLeave, I found that I was drawn to the paler shades and was put out that 2 SA's guided me to 3.5. I felt it was way too dark but, as is ya, she gave me a few samples and she was right. The one I wanted to buy would have been deathly on me. My point is, they look dark in the bottle but once blended, it kind of "merges" with your skin.

Puddles1234 · 11/03/2014 20:43

Eliza22 Your skin looks amazing in your photo. Pretty much flawless. I'm going to get some samples of that foundation, I normally use la prairie or chantecaille so I am going to give Lancôme a try.

frankietwospots · 11/03/2014 21:28

Thanks everyone! Loads of great suggestions. Beauty counters, here I come!

Following as I am also a long term double wear user that is now looking for something else.

motleymop · 11/03/2014 21:35

I mix double wear with ysl touche eclat foundation. but actually I think this changing the formula thing is a myth- they just added a couple more colours.

motleymop · 11/03/2014 21:39

I mean I mix the two foundations together- best of both worlds. and believe me, I've tried a LOT of foundations!! but everyone's skin is different.

QuinnFabray · 11/03/2014 21:48

I also recommend the revlon whipped creme. Clarebaldingshair if you are Fresco in Estée Lauder I would go for 200 sand beige.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/03/2014 22:37

The Aldi cc is awful, lovely cream and no coverage what so ever, like no colour at all. Shame.
