Take those queries off my gold skirt status. I'm on it! Or, indeed, in it.

CointreauVersial · 07/03/2014 22:05

I hate Coffee & Walnut cake.

I adored ELO back in the day, and still know all the words. I had a very fetching pale yellow ELO sweatshirt c .1979. Jeff Lynn is obviously doing the rounds, because he was on Chris Evans' show this morning. Fact fans, did you know that ELO's manager throughout the early part of their career was none other than Sharon Osborne?

I have abandoned tomorrow's gardening plans because I have had a last minute invitation to Sandown Park to watch the 'orses. Ooo-er. Posh private box, champagne reception, ladies "may wear hats if they wish..."; of course, this sent me screaming to my wardrobe, but I think I've settled on a nice Boden silk dress and grey heels. Lovely DH is dropping me off so I don't have to drive (note to self - dig out epilator before bedtime).

Runaway girl (and it was a runaway) has been lying low, although the story was all over the local paper yesterday, the family thanking everyone for the high profile on social media that resulted in her being found. DH will be seeing her dad tomorrow, but I don't know how much of the full story we'll hear. Just so relieved she came to no harm.

QueenQueenie · 07/03/2014 22:06

Are you wearing it right now then Herbs? Out on the town or at home watching the telly? Perfect loungewear!
Have updated your and BTM's status...

CointreauVersial · 07/03/2014 22:07

Are we seriously going to turn up in matching metallic clothing?

QueenQueenie · 07/03/2014 22:09

I don't know CV, but I've enjoyed posting my list... we can reflect (geddit) nearer the time...

NUFC69 · 07/03/2014 22:36

QQ, thank you for asking a late comer to the party, but it's my birthday on the 26th and we're going away for the night to the Lakes so I think I had better decline. I have not been to London since just before the Hatfield train crash - everyone says it has changed out of all recognition (ie much cleaner and nicer), so perhaps I will make it sometime. And I could have swanned along in a bronze coloured long dress and shocked the lot of you. Grin

QueenQueenie · 07/03/2014 22:40

We'll have a birthday drink for you NUF in your absence... Lakes trip sounds lovely.

addle · 07/03/2014 23:22

hello all,

mrs s - so sorry, you are having a hell of a time

crem - brilliant news

have been having most peculiar time with job - offered it (hooray) but then letter says it's just short-term contract (boo) and i KNOW it wasn't (got lalsy to doublecheck for/with me). sigh. but for the next 12 weeks I shall be working dangerously close to the K&C c&w cake (my favourite also, along with claggy baked cheesecake)

qq - could you add me to the list pls? metallic shade undecided

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 08/03/2014 01:05

With all that shiny schmatter you will look like a group of laydees from Finchley boycotting Shabbos!

If I can get rid of my corn I may wear my leopard print shoes. If not I will be in my Camper boots. No idea about what will be going on top.

bigTillyMint · 08/03/2014 06:29

CV and NU, shove up on the raspberry and chocolate brownie bench!

Well I will definitely wear my silvery skirt - I bought it specially! Gwan crepeys, you know we want to make an entranceGrin

Feeling a bit less aged this morning after going straight to my bed from work and staying there till now with just a brief interval to shove some food in the oven for dinner and later, have a row with DS. First row with DS in ages, so he has definitely been a lot better for a whileWink

Blackduck · 08/03/2014 07:22

Oh proper baked cheese cake loooooove it....
Here I too have been on the non-drinking stint - I was starting to feel mildly off colour and getting hot flashes again so thought I'd knock it in the head for a bit.

Ds has a friend (girl - no not that one) for a sleepover so peace and quiet at the moment.

Lamp shade has been replaced on light.

Thanks for all the school 'don't worries' - it is stressing me out as it's such a big decision.

hattymattie · 08/03/2014 07:52

Well The Crucible is finally over, DD2 did her screamy thing very nicely. DD1 is off for her usual Saturday morning mock - philosophy todayHmm.

Thank you for thinking of me Crepeys - if the Eurostar was just a little bit cheaper I'd go for it. I'm planning on DD1 being in England for uni next year so I'll be able to swing by and finally meet you all.

Oh Rudy, good luck sorting things with/for your DM.

Well done to teenHatty!

I'm off to meet friends for breakfastSmile

Blackduck · 08/03/2014 10:10

Ruddy hope all goes well with DM.
I'm off for lunch with some old colleagues. Then a quiet Saturday night......

wilbur · 08/03/2014 10:15

Morning all - I am up and raring to go this morning due to promised blue skies. I am planting summer bulbs, sowing seeds for lobelia, painting weedkiller lovingly onto brambles and generally Getting Things Done. The one downside of our terrific new windows (still not quite finished, sigh) is that I can now see the untidy garden in full HD glory.

Crem - yay for your dd's exam and for dh finishing horrid work. Hope the pancakes were delicious morsels of victory.

NU - I also hate my upper arms - I have wobbly Russian shotputter triceps. I like being strong and able to punch quite hard lift heavy things with them, but long for willowy arms that look nice in sleeveless tops.

Re 28th, I'm pretty sure I can make it, just need to check with dh about home time. What time are we gathering at QQ's? I have a gold lurex sweater to add to the pile of metallica.

wilbur · 08/03/2014 10:16

Rudy - sorry, meant to say I hope your decisions re DM go ok - it must be very hard.

motherinferior · 08/03/2014 10:18

Good luck, Rudy. Thinking of you.

I am not actually up yetShock though have finished rather good review novel I blagged.

cremolafoam · 08/03/2014 11:04

Thinking of you Rudy. Not easy.
Wilbur - vair impressed at your gardening keenness. It is so lovely to see the narcissus starting to bloom in our newly created ( thanks mumsnet b&q competition Grin) front garden.
The back garden is unspeakable - fallen tree/ collapsed greenhouse/ etc. it will require serious effort from both dh and me to sort it out. On the up side we will have ample logs for next winterSmile

Lalsy have you done the finance application thingy yet? We have set aside Sunday to get it together. Scary biscuits. Dd hasn't received all her offers yet, so we are going to have to stick down her most desired option ( no offer yet) . The whole thing is a bit confusing. Shock

I have so many bits of my bod I loath.
But my middle is my nemesis. Angry

NUFC69 · 08/03/2014 11:08

Rather jealous to read of sun and blue skies - it's cold here (5 degrees C) and grey. We're going scooting down the side of the Tyne later so I hope it warms up.

Rudy, re DM, if she is anything like my Dad she will resist until it is too late and then getting care into place is far more difficult. It's very emotive whatever is decided. Good luck.
