OOh interesting Frugal - have a L'Occitane just up the road from work so will check it out.

Woken up feeling rather coldy so SOTD is Kiss by he Fireside by 4160 Tuesdays

Am enveloped in a cosy, clovey love

Stokey · 19/03/2014 10:01

Should read a Kiss by THE fireside of course

ScienceRocks · 19/03/2014 10:34

Stokey I love Fireside. It is like being wrapped in a big warm hug all day. You know it is in the naughty box on the Tuesdays website, so a FB is very reasonably priced at the moment. Just saying... Wink

Today I am wearing Pamplemousse Rose, courtesy of the lovely wilting. It is grey outside so probably not the right weather for the huge hit of grapefruit at the start, but it certainly woke me up! It has now settled into a pretty but slightly edgy flowery scent, which I rather like. Would be lovely in the sunshine.

Caitlyn2014 · 19/03/2014 10:36

Jo Malone - Earl Grey and Grapefruit is lovely

Stokey · 19/03/2014 11:59

Science.. I blind bought it when I got my samples

At first spray I thought I'd made a terrible mistake, but now think there is definitely a place for it, it's quite unique and very warming.

FuzzLightbeard · 19/03/2014 13:53

I still need to try some Tuesdays samples...my to try list is huuuuuge!

Yesterday DH came home with a surprise early Mother's Day gift for me, a bottle of Space NK Laughter Jour. At first I was a bit 'meh' about it but it's growing on me, it is a fairly innocuous fruity floral but I realised today that it reminds me of Lancome's O Oui, which I used to wear back in the day.
I think it will come in handy for days when I need to smell clean and innoffesive.

wiltingfast · 19/03/2014 21:31

Ooo my Tuesday samples arrived! Thank you Science Grin trying who knew first, huge smoky hit at begin which I like, can't wait to see how it develops into roses...

cosikitty · 19/03/2014 22:08

SOTD Chanel 22, smells expensive, not sure worthy of a full bottle, is showerproof though!

ScienceRocks · 20/03/2014 09:15

Chanel 1932 today. It smells, well, of Chanel. Too grown up for me.

Stokey · 20/03/2014 09:24

SOTD Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier

Nice lemony smell with a bit of earth at first that has faded into subtle tuberose but think sillage will be terrible - am already sturgglinh to get a decent whiff after applying less than 2 hours ago.

Grin Science I find Channel a bit too complicated for me, I just don't get it yet (apart from Coromandel). feel like I should perservere.

ScienceRocks · 20/03/2014 09:50

Stokey glad it isn't just me! It's nice enough, it just isn't me, and I think it reminds me of my mum and her friends when I was growing up, all of whom wore Chanel (it was quite the done thing at one time). The only Chanel I can do is Cristalle Eau Verte, everything else just smells too Chanelly!

Unsophisticated? Moi?!

FuzzLightbeard · 20/03/2014 13:38

I'm a Chanel lover but I wonder if I'm a bit odd as I love and wear a lot of perfumes that my mum and older relatives used to wear, the nostalgia factor kind of makes me love them more. I can't wear the same ones as my sister though, that just feels weird Confused

SOTD is Premier Figuier, which I totally love and makes me feel all sunshiney and happy.

teta · 20/03/2014 16:11

Frugal the perfumes have arrived!Creed Virgin Island Water is absolutely gorgeous - Thank you ( even the envelope smells lovely).SOTD was Tokyo Cafe earlier and is now Virgin Island Water.

foxinorangesocks · 20/03/2014 21:26

Tera isn't it lovely!? Every time I'm in selfridges now I douse myself with it Smile I'm awaiting my order from nose impatiently. Eyeing up more Tuesday ones too.

foxinorangesocks · 20/03/2014 21:27

Oops sorry, teta. iPhone corrected that twice!

cosikitty · 20/03/2014 22:57

Would love to try this!

ScienceRocks · 21/03/2014 09:53

Jo malone's white lilac and rhubarb today. Quite sweet but I am rather liking it, and - gasp - for a Jo Malone fragrance, I can still smell it over an hour after putting it on! The lilac is very definitely there, the rhubarb less obvious, but there is definitely something cutting through the sweet flowers that is pleasing my fussy nose.

Yesterday's Chanel 1932 certainly had staying power. After just one application in the morning, I could still smell it when I went to bed. Astonishing.

BeCool · 21/03/2014 11:41

SOTD - 2014Tuesday's "The Lion Cupboard".

It smells just like a warm woody old cupboard with old sweet "people" scents, wool and silk, sandalwood (not sandals) with a bit of tobacco. It is lovely.
(I need to work on my descriptions :))

It is the first time I've torn myself away from my new fav which I have been wearing for 3 weeks solid. (Fragonard Santal from M&S)

Clearly I have a sandalwood thing going on.

SinisterSal · 21/03/2014 11:55

SOTD - Montale Deep Roses. Love it

FuzzLightbeard · 21/03/2014 13:06

BeCool I love Sandalwood too. I find in some newer formulations that the sandalwood is less creamy and more soapy smelling, when I first tried Samsara it was breathtaking but my new bottle has that soapy smell and it's not the same Sad

I guess the older ones must have Mysore Sandalwood (can you shed some light Frugal?)

SOTD is Ralph Lauren Safari, the last dregs of a car boot find. The top notes smell a bit off but it's worth waiting for that old creamy, sandalwoody drydown. I must have been quite stinky on the school run this morning Grin

BeCool · 21/03/2014 14:07

The Fragonard Santal I initially put back as up front it smells only like Sandalwood. And then I shopped and over the next hours it developed so gorgeously and showed so many layers I was hooked!

Went back to M&S and brought it!

Samsara was a very early perfume for me - I guess I wore it over 20 years ago.

Stokey · 21/03/2014 14:35

Another sandalwood fan here - I always have sandalwood soap in my bathroom.

Have you tried Maroc pour Elle, Tauer, think it's quite sandalwood-y.

SOTD Tuesdays The Sexiest Scent on the Planet IMHO - very vanilla with a bit of bergamot - and lasts better than some of the other ones. I quite like it but don't think it is THAT sexy. Someone didn't like it, Science?

ScienceRocks · 21/03/2014 15:43

Ooh, I love sandalwood too. Must try Santal next time I'm in marks (I love ile d'amour too). I used to love samsara, and ysatis by givenchy, which always felt in a similar vibe to me.

No, not me who didn't like sexiest scent, I didn't have that in my samples.

White lilac and rhubarb still going strong. I'm so used to Jo Malone scents fading within minutes, I'm starting to wonder if this is from a duff batch!

BeCool · 21/03/2014 15:57

The Lion Cupboard has lasted well and developed wonderfully throughout the day - it's softer now.

FrugalFashionista · 21/03/2014 18:39

Hi Ladies
I'm briefly back at home - pretty wiped out and leaving for the US early next week

Wilting your lovely decant has arrived, thanks so much!
Teta hope the samples didn't leak too much! Virgin Island Water is quite charming! Should you need a budget alternative, The Bath & Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena line smells quite similar - I have some of their mini toiletries from US hotels. CSP Aqua Motu is also worth a try!

Fuzz Mysore sandalwood used to be relatively affordable but is now endangered and rare. Samsara used a lot of it in its original formula but was also testing ground for recently invented synthetics - polysantol among them. Nowadays Aussie sandalwood is a sustainable alternative (it's the basenote in Malle's Dries van Noten) but it smells quite different. Other famous sandalwood perfumes are Tam Dao and Bois des Iles. If you enjoy rose-sandalwood, try 10 Corso Como and Idole de Lubin.

I've worn Vanille Narcisse a lot over the past few days. It's astonishingly good for a budget perfume (but beware, very sweet). The weather has been cold and I've been really busy so it has been very comforting. It's quite simple too and although I generally love complex perfumes, simple things are easier to wear when I'm really busy.
