Hope you have a fab time Because.

Dry, why have you been supping calpol?
Are you trying to that thing that Justin B is supposed to do... Mixing cold medicine with fizzy pop?! :o

Annianni · 02/02/2014 23:24

Yep Mig, even last night when we were looking at laptops, he said something about getting a Lego thing that we'd seen recently.
I had to explain again felt like a mean mummy

santamarianovella · 02/02/2014 23:25

Good evening all, have gone,MIA and need to catch up,but couldnt resist rooting for sleep, and saying that its great idea, and something I would attend,we all forget sometimes, how quick kids, specially girls pick things up,and how it can have a very negative impact on them,Also i think its very important to give parents professional advice on how to approch kids with weight issues, never to say you look terrible,or you would look better if you lose/gain a bit of weight.
,i vivadly remember one incident back in school,we where on a trip and us being a bunch of 14 year olds asked to have pizza and coke for dinner, one of the girls who was a bit overweight said that she is so hungry she could eat a whole pizza, one of the teachers said : don't kid yourself ,one is not enough for you! Shock, the girl laughed it off,but it was clear that she was really hurt, and was later crying to us,saying that she really hates it when people remark on her weight, and how it makes her feel unattractive and not normal,we all felt bad for her,and cried,it changed my view on how to approach people on sensitive issues, specially body image.she is aware of her weight problem, but she didnt have the right guidance,

Sorry for the long hallmark moment Blush, but I feel that there is a huge pressure to look a certain way, specially the unhealthy pale, androgynous look, that is so popular now days,

because safe travels, and hope you have an amazing time.Smile
dry good job,I honestly though, you would lose your battle, but you are a fighter! That gucci beauty would be yours soon, but don't do a Francois Hollande and discard nancy for the younger and smaller gucci Wink.

Will do a proper catch up later.

Drywhiteplease · 03/02/2014 08:01

Anni what a perfect birthday for DS .....menu sounds fantastic! my kids are jealous!! The calpol was because all the paracetamol was gone yesterday and I had a ahem slight headache to deal with.
santa good to hear from you.....I'm very single minded at times and when I want something I go for it obsessively this can drive DH bonkers ESP if I'm having a cleaning frenzy, but also means I get stuff done. I won't ditch Nancy! they will both have different roles in my life Smile

Thanks Dry.

Has anyone read the frugality today?
I quite fancy blue hair... Doubt it would show up on mine though, and I'm too wussy to do anything more permanent.

Have you recovered Shop?

to Santa

LinusDKD · 03/02/2014 10:28

Morning!

My Chinti & Parker dress from the Outnet arrived today and it is perfect!

Nice thick stretchy cotton in lovely colours and very flattering.

dry I agree, I love Julianne Moore and she always looks flawless and dresses great for her colouring and age.

LinusDKD · 03/02/2014 10:31

Oh and about colouring my hair, I am still traumatised by the home dye kit I used when I was 17 and the 'caramel blonde' highlights turned out to be an orange allover colour on my hair.

Washes out after 8 times? Yeah right! [bitter]

I haven't highlighted/coloured my hair for years but even then I only trusted certain hairdressers to do it after my teenage trauma.

shopafrolic · 03/02/2014 10:44

Morning all - did anyone else get a PM from AtterleyRoadCustomerCare this morning apologising for their recent poor service? Are they allowed to do that?

LinusDKD · 03/02/2014 10:53

Just checked shop and I did get a pm too.

Turquoiseblue · 03/02/2014 11:15

Morning all. Wet and miserable here. Had a busy weekend so going to snuggle down and potter indoors until school run.
What do you think of the Prada furry stole in frugality and WIT ? Personally I just don't get it - luminous orange and cobalt blue - 1/2 in 1/2 - one of those fashion items that teeters on looking slightly bonkers I think, and I don't think it works on Laura from WIT. i m just boring i can see a stole working, but those colours just are so zany they remind me of that ventriloquist with the big bird around his neck - can't think of his name.

shopafrolic · 03/02/2014 11:32

No eviction from me Turquoise. Not for me.
Me&em dress has arrived - will try and have a try on later

Annianni · 03/02/2014 11:39

Rod Hull and emu?

I like the idea of a stole, but those colours look daft together.

Just collonil'd my shoes for tonight.
Was it Justa who asked how comfy they are?
I suspect not very... but I'm going from house to car, to bar to car to restaurant... So I'll be fine I hope

Waiting for the dhl man with my jeans, hope they fit, really don't fancy having to sort another outfit this afternoon.

I got a pm too Shop, not impressed tbh, would rather they'd posted on the thread or at least pm'd us with decent discount codes

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2014 11:44

A pm'd apology is a bit light weight.

I agree post on the thread or pm a voucher!

Turq yep, going to have another look.

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2014 11:45

What about the dip dyed Gap jeans WIT has on? Good discount.

Umlauf · 03/02/2014 11:54

Morning anni have your jeans arrived yet?

Staying in today for the UPS man, dreading the customs bill...

I HATE that wit stole, glad it's not just me! I do love the blue hair thoug anni I'm back in the uk for half term so I will head to boots and try out the rose I think!

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself today as DH and I have had to cancel my birthday present and night out next week due to unexpected cash flow issues that have popped up. I'm not worried about presents but was really looking forward to a night out with DH as we haven't since the baby was born. Part of me thinks it's a ruse to put me off a huge surprise and then I'll feel really sorry for myself when nothing materialises on the day!!! Very silly gives self a slap I'm having a dinner party at home on Saturday so that will be nice!

Umlauf · 03/02/2014 11:54

I like the dip dyed jeans marsha but think you need to be very tall or at least very leggy, when I tried them on they cut my legs in half.

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2014 11:54

Santa that is sad, poor girl. Any comments on appearance at a young age just stick. I remember all mine! From parents / teachers especially. It is so easy to make a young girl doubt herself and the effects can be so long-lasting. Great to see you!

Barbie are you ok?

I have more work this week, which is making me feel a bit rushed. Have lots to do.

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2014 11:56

Oh no Umlauf sorry to hear that. The dinner party sounds lovely.

Stokey · 03/02/2014 12:02

Hello all,

Hope you had good weekends. Big night out for me on Thursday, days to recover, and managed to lose black cashmere cardie :( .

Glad you got the horse pendant Grumpy, I love it.

Got my Match order and am sending both dresses back. I like the style of the DVF dress but don't think the colours did anything for me - zebra print, think the beige was too close to my skin tone. May have kept it a year ago but trying to think more about my colours and realise if I think.. it may look ok if I had a tan... should probably just ditch it. And loved the pattern of the other dress but look like I was wearing an enormous handkerchief.

Oh well, need to buy new cardie in my lunch break -so frustrating.

Annianni · 03/02/2014 12:22

Sorry to hear that Umlauf.
We've not had a proper night out since Ds2 was born and he'll be 3 next month :o

Hence me obsessing over what to wear etc.

Dh just popped home for a cup of tea on his way past.
Sometimes that's really nice but not when I'm waiting for the dhl man

Mignonette · 03/02/2014 14:03

Aww Umlauf that's annoying and anxiety making. Are you freelance/self employed. We are sick of clients who think it is okay to NOT PAY THEIR BILLS for months on end. If they cannot afford that extension/new kitchen/new build then don't have it.

End of rant.

I love the Bliss hair dyes but that particular shade on WIT is just meh. I have used a pale primrose yellow that a friend mixed up for me which I loved. Very subtle but a proper 'true' colour. I might have another go at it and do some undercolouring so that when i push my hair over to one side, it shows up.

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2014 14:17

I must admit one of the reasons I stick this client is that they pay on the dot of 30 days. It is bliss in comparison to some of the bad debts I've had to swallow. So annoying when people don't pay. Practically undoes all that hard work just to run around chasing people.

The main thing is for me now, will they pay on time.

But I can see how very annoying that is Mig, my one thing is that people use me more than once, and I won't turn up again if they don't pay on time!

Umlauf · 03/02/2014 14:22

Ah anni I should count my blessings then! I'm lucky really, I've been out with friends and we have managed to take ds to restaurants where he just sleeps in his pram. I just want a guiltless cocktail, goddammit!!

Technically I'm unemployed mig we "timed" the pregnancy terribly and due to many different expat factors and Spain's maternity laws changing ended up not eligible for maternity pay/child benefit etc and due to teaching contracts here only running sept-June, also out of a job as nobody wanted to renew a contract of a 9months pregnant lady! But I do the odd supply class, and we knew all of that before deciding to have the baby. Hoping to go back to work in September and the inscription fees for the school are my birthday present this year!!! DH has sworn to take me to NYC for my 30th so it's fine!! And I'm sure my own mother will treat me during half term... Cake

Do you think she didn't leave the blue on long enough? It looks grey, which in itself is quite "trendy" I suppose. I do like it though!

libertychick · 03/02/2014 15:11

Quick pop in.
Sleep go for it with the body issues class. Especially on how to protect our DC's. With the best will in the world I think the majority of our generation of mum's (mostly ex mini skirt wearing 60's hippy chicks and tight jeans 70's women) hadn't a clue. The comments I got as a very overweight teenager are BURNED into my brain.

Shop I got an atterly road pm too and reported it.

Shop I have an insane work week so i am not logging for a few days as I get far to easily distracted by MN/pin etc so if there are any MU changes can you text or email me? Sleep has my email too. Thanks Lunch, wine and gossip with you guys will be my reward for what is going to be an intense few days Smile

MWAH to all - look forward to catching up on lovely links later this week.

BTW Novice check your pm's Smile

Annianni · 03/02/2014 15:36

Photos on pin.
I look awful.
