OOo - I bet DH didn't plan on the spree when he asked you on a date Anni? What bag?

Umlauf · 30/01/2014 18:16

Urg. Thanks for your help on leather shorts. Love them, but not keeping them. They arrived with a faulty zip, I emailed Atterley road who said to go and find out how much it would be to repair them (they were the last pair). So I went all the way to the mall, a bloody palaver getting baby ds there got the quote (18 euro), and emailed it them, at which point they offered £3.90 discount. To fix a zip? Doesn't the zip alone cost about a tenner. So pissed off I now have to go through the infamous returns process when I wanted to keep the shorts anyway! But I shouldn't have to pay an extra 18 euros to get the product I bought in good faith should I? AIBU, or is that rather shocking?!

Drywhiteplease · 30/01/2014 18:20

Yanbu Unlauf ....leave the bastards.....

Oops, sorry, thought I was on another thread for a moment! Grin v bad service. There'll be other pairs....sorry.

Sleep did you once mention a pulled pork (sounds so rude) recipe? If so where's it from? Have 11 for dinner Saturday and another 10 the following week. Need easy food. Have some ideas but would like to see the pork Grin .....good god......

Evening!

umlauf that is bad customer service. As I mentioned before, I have gone off AR after they messed up my Christmas present for DMIL.

dry pulled pork sounds nice.

I made some brownies this afternoon with DS and they are yummy.

novice I hope your DSis is ok. Flowers

Off to look at Marsha's yellow pins.

Sleepwhenidie · 30/01/2014 19:16

umlauf you are looking great on MNV! Need to look properly but please help everyone, just off for dinner. Have resurrected Anglomania red dress, please tell me a-too mutton (in which case I'm straight back into the photo readys and IRO jacket)? If not then black Louboutins or stacked boots? Pic on the board! Flowers

Umlauf · 30/01/2014 19:20

Smile No sleep you look perfect love the dress! Def not too mutton, keep it on! Have fun!

maradesbois · 30/01/2014 19:20

because regarding the birkin the waiting list seems to be just a big marketing ploy to push up demand. Mine was a gift from dh for a special birthday. In Paris at the flagship store he was initially told would have to wait over a year as they are hand made to order and there was a backlog which he decided was ridiculous and told them so! As he was about to leave they called him back and said they would speak to the workshop just in case & lo and behold one with the exact leather/colour/metal/size he wanted had just been made for a cancelled order and he could have it right away!

Despite all this smoke and mirrors I love the bag but in case you are thinking of going for it will give you its pros & cons

For
A beautiful piece of craftsmanship made by true artisans
Classic and timeless, a real bag for life that will not date*
Doesn't lose its value, if anything will appreciate (for this reason would perhaps avoid resellers)
*in terms of cost per use over a lifetime could actually be seen as good value for money!

Against
I don't actually use it very much - is very heavy for a start. Also opening & closing properly is a pain so tend just to tuck the flap in which is not very secure. I don't take it out if it rains although it came with a bizarre plastic pouch that you are meant to cover it with!

Having said that I do love it & would adore a navy one too although that will remain a long-term fantasy!

Annianni · 30/01/2014 19:26

Shop, I asked dh on the date! It's me that's booked a sitter etc.

The bag is the pewter clutch on my pin. It was all of £9-99 (cheapskate)

That's terrible customer service Umlauf Angry for you!

Dry I did pulled pork a few weeks ago, I just cooked it for bloody hours on low, under a tinfoil tent (gave it 30 mins on 180 (fan oven) first)
There's loads of recipes online for marinades.

Is it a gammon recipe that's done in a slow cooker with a bag of brown sugar?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/01/2014 19:28

Good evening all

Dry ok you have officially ruined the celine for me, just as well I can't afford it Grin

novice hope your DD had a lovely birthday. Glad the house is coming along well and that your sister is recovering okay.

Not good about AR customer service Umlauf. It's been a few months since I bought anything from them but they had always been ok before.

That's a nice story mara Envy Wink

Knackered here and not been spending any money, but it's pay day tomorrow and the weekend!

LinusDKD · 30/01/2014 19:34

mara your DH was very lucky as DM had to wait over a year for hers.

When she went into the Hermès shop to enquire if there was any progress they were super snooty to her and basically told her not to come and bother them that they would call her when the bag was ready.

Then they said, 'actually, we have called you that your bag was ready' DM responded that they did but when she got to the shop the bag they showed her was the wrong colour and wrong hardware. Hmm

She did get her bag in the end and has bought another one after that, so she obviously was not put off by their shocking customer service.

My DH and I witnessed the rude behaviour of the SA, so DH vowed he would never buy me anything from that brand. Sad

Later he said he would 'box' them for 10 years but I am happy to report he bought me two of their bracelets last year (about 9 years after the 'incident') Grin

LinusDKD · 30/01/2014 19:37

dry ruined the Céline??!! Where? Say it isn't so! I have been daydreaming about the cobalt hobo

Umlauf · 30/01/2014 19:46

Thanks, I've always been the first to defend Atterley Road as they deliver so quickly abroad and the packaging is gorgeous so I'm bitterly disappointed. I've asked for my query to be forwarded to a manager but they're closed now so we shall see tomorrow what they say...

mara shocked about the birkin process!! DH can't get his head around the business strategy behind that!!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/01/2014 19:51

Linus I said I liked this and dry thought it looked like a washing machine. Now I can't unsee it! :(

Grin
MarshaBrady · 30/01/2014 19:53

shopafrolic · 30/01/2014 19:57

Turquoiseblue · 30/01/2014 19:59

Ok off for a swim. Will catch up later.

LinusDKD · 30/01/2014 20:00

Ah yes. Well, to be fair, it does look like a washing machine hopes the Céline Gods don't hear me mocking one of their bags

MarshaBrady · 30/01/2014 20:01

Haha Linus, me too.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/01/2014 20:03

Washing machine in action!

MarshaBrady · 30/01/2014 20:03

It is rather fab in that pic.

shopafrolic · 30/01/2014 20:13

Nope. Just a washing machine with Marsha's neon tee in it! Grin

MarshaBrady · 30/01/2014 20:13

lol! Grin

Drywhiteplease · 30/01/2014 20:21

Blair I'm so sorry ......ignore me

I met a woman years ago who had worked for Hermes, she explained to me the workmanship, the years of training and the trouble they take selecting the perfect hide that goes into their bags. It does take ages to make one...I can't remember the exact timescale but remember being awestruck.
