Do you...

  • love fashion (high and low end), style, beauty?
  • spend way more time than is healthy for anyone thinking about the contents of your wardrobe?
  • wish you had the nerve to apply for Mastermind with your specialist subject being the history of H&M collaborations?

If so come and chat! Hugs and kisses allowed

Oh Shop big hug.

AmberNectarine · 17/01/2014 12:58

Shop can you not stay a little longer in the water with DS? At our pool there is a training pool used for lessons and a big pool for general use, so I just used to take DS in there until he'd had enough and would leave willingly.

I wouldn't bother being embarrassed - there isn't a mother on this planet who hasn't been on the receiving end of a public meltdown (or 100)

Annianni · 17/01/2014 13:04

Shop ((hug))

I walked out of sainsburys at the end of the Christmas holls, because both ds's were behaving like arses and neither would listen to me.

I did take the boys home with me, and luckily all I'd put in my trolley was bananas.

Sleepwhenidie · 17/01/2014 13:04

Oh shop Sad - my DD is the same after swimming. Its horrible. Is he crying because he doesn't want to leave or cos he just hits the wall? Are you even allowed drinks in the changing room? A carton of apple juice/milkshake? Does he respond to bribery yet - promise of his choice of snack after getting changed calmly?

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2014 13:09

Sheeet just travelled all the way to Vauxhall city farm and it's closed. Damn! Tg ds is happy with puddles.

LinusDKD · 17/01/2014 13:12

Oh shop all those other mums have had the same happen to them at one point, just have just not been there to witness it.

Barbie1 · 17/01/2014 13:17

Hello Smile

Huge 'what the fuck are we doing with our life' conversations have been dominating my entire week so have had no time to post.

We are staying in S.K until end of project (2 years) decided not to jump ship and float from country to country as we both agree the M.E is where we want to be. So we stick it out here and head back in two years.

Least I can wear all my new jumpers and the vast quantities of cashmere I have suddenly aquired.

Every cloud and all that....

I'm on the mission the dress how I want and not how the island dictates.

Today I wore... Leather coat pants from Zara. My new white Joseph shirt and my new IM jacket. Finished with black suede boots. (Ankle with a heel) slight over dressed for the school run but who cares Grin

Enough about me, hi to all the newbies and lurkers.

Loving all the pins and links. I really, really do not need anything until the weather starts to warm up. I'm ploughing my way through all the recent birthday additions.

Nothing in my wardrobe that is neither practical or beautiful. I move to much to carry around things I don't wear.

Umlauf · 17/01/2014 13:18

I have the photo readys blondambition they aren't my favourite jeans tbh! the fabric is quite heavy for a jegging but has a lot of stretch in it, and feels almost like suede. They also stain really easily, but I have a very possetty baby so I'm sure you'd look much cleaner in them than me!! They are fairly flattering, but I'd call them a jegging rather than a jean. I fit a smaller size in them than in my normal j brand jeans too. I think someone else here has them too but can't remember who, sorry!!

dry thank you, you've made my day!! Grin

decam I laughed aloud at your DHS joke! Good one.

shop hugs! sounds horrific for you but every mum there will have had the same happen at some point.

So last night, a couple of women came up to me and asked if i was from London. They hadn't heard me speak so I asked how they knew and they said I had "London style." What do you think - compliment or insult?!?! (I live in Northern Spain for reference!!)

BrandyAlexander · 17/01/2014 13:18

Oh you poor thing Shop.Brew Ds is an expert at public meltdowns and he is going through a phase where they are happening constantly. This is normal. Another mother would have to be a bit of a shitbag to judge. Deep breaths my love, deep breaths.

shopafrolic · 17/01/2014 13:20

Thanks all.
It's a pool at a hotel Amber and there is a class of babies after us so we have to get out, and yes Sleep I think he does just hit a wall. He was crying saying he wanted a snack, tried to explain that until we get to the car he couldn't have one but because they used to allow it he just didn't understand. To be fair, last term he still cried and screamed just with rice cake in hand. No drinks either. I tried to bribe saying that if he was good getting out of the pool he could have chocolate buttons after lunch but it didn't work. It's as though he just doesn't understand what I'm telling him. And then when we got home he and he'd had lunch he asked for the chocolate, I said no because he hadn't been good at the pool. Cue another meltdown. Sorry all - I know it's nothing new. I just have no idea how to tackle it and it's been months now.
I'm wondering about giving him a massive amount to eat an hour before class (it starts at 11am) so hopefully he won't be so hungry when he gets out of the water?
If this dress doesn't fit now I think I'll give up!
The prospect of no DH from tomorrow isn't helping either.
Linus is your DH back yet? How are you doing?

BecauseIsaidS0 · 17/01/2014 13:21

Hello ladies!

I'm working from home today so just wearing khaki jeans and a non-descript but colourful Custo Barcelona top.

The sale of my bachelorette flat completed this morning so I can now concentrate on the really important stuff...my honeymoon in a couple of weeks! Grin

Any suggestions/ideas for beach chic will be more than welcome. I'm last minute panic dieting Grin

BecauseIsaidS0 · 17/01/2014 13:21

Aw shop, poor poppet, that sounds stressful. I don't have kids so I can't say I've been there but I can send you a virtual hug.

shopafrolic · 17/01/2014 13:21

Umlauf I'd take it as a compliment. Tell them you're friends with Kate Moss! Grin

libertychick · 17/01/2014 13:22

Poor you Shop. I guarantee the other children are not all behaving perfectly, it just seems that way when your own child is kicking off. Bribery works really well with DD ATM. I would sneak in a snack - it's a bit crazy not to expect small children to be hungry after a swim lesson.

OP posts:
Barbie1 · 17/01/2014 13:23

Sleep, I feel for you but you know what? Every child is the same. Sure the other kids might behave perfectly at the pool but I bet they are little buggers in a different situation. I would maybe leave earlier or stay in the pool later. Don't give up get yourself some wine

Barbie1 · 17/01/2014 13:24

shop not sleep Blush

libertychick · 17/01/2014 13:24

Sorry shop X post. DH always gives DD a decent mid morning snack if they have any morning activities and it works well.

Umlauf · 17/01/2014 13:28

Exciting because where are you going on honeymoon? It's times like these I mourn the loss of style passport. The best thing I had for mine was a silk kimono thing from topshop boutique, I wore it as a beach cover up and then with a plaited leather belt and big jewellery and stacked heels as a dress in the evenings, as a jacket with denim cut offs and a white vest, even as a scarf on the plane.

shopafrolic · 17/01/2014 13:30

Wine is my only way through this coming week Barbie. It would have been shopping but I've spent all my £££ so will have to get shitfaced instead Grin
Because congrats on flat sale - I can hear the excitement - really lovely. I can't help on beach chic. marsha what was that swimwear brand you mentioned last year? - just gorgeous.

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2014 13:34

Eres, Bonsoir mentioned it ages ago. Still haven't got one! Costs are a bit eye watering.

Have found a gorgeous cafe with real piano and multiple toys, tg!

Barbie1 · 17/01/2014 13:37

VB has just announced her first store will open in Dover street....oh man, I really, really miss shopping Sad

libertychick · 17/01/2014 13:37

Well done Marsha sounds good.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 17/01/2014 13:38

Sounds nicer than puddles Marsha good stuff

Barbie1 · 17/01/2014 13:41

because love her stuff
Having lived in the heat for a few years I practically lived in her kaftans, I used to sling my missoni chain belt low on the hips and a pair of wedges and you are good to go almost anywhere.
Where are you honeymooning?

MarshaBrady · 17/01/2014 13:41

Thanks I was worried he'd go crazy as we've been talking about the farm for the last day and puddles certainly don't usually work!
