A safe place to talk fashion stuff. Bring a passion for fashion (high end or high street), a positive state of mind and lots of links.

Try Hudson May too Shop I love mine.
Also Goldsign frontier crop.

I'd like to thank HoF for fab CS.

My lovely Hudson Muse jeans were starting to go on the bum seam. I'd only worn them a few times... and you could argue that it was my curvaceous fat bottom that was the problem...

The denim was a very loose weave, so imo there should have been some reinforcement along the seams.

But they have refunded me without quibble and I have £92 burning a hole in my pocket towards another pair of jeans.

Annianni · 11/01/2014 11:03

Is Grumpy's jacket the one Santa tried?
It's lovely either way.

Annianni · 11/01/2014 11:06

Don't be silly NUFC, the more the merrier!

OneLittleLady · 11/01/2014 11:07

NUFC you are more than welcome here Smile your necklace sounds lovely, I love emeralds

QueenCadbury · 11/01/2014 11:13

nu absolutely no age limit here. If you love fashion then you're in Smile

barbie as others have said you don't sound shallow at all. You're just telling us about your purchases as opposed to bragging bout them iyswim. It's that subtle difference that makes you not shallow.

Feeling a bit better today. Poor little dd seems to have the same thing although she has a really high temperature with it. But she's breathing very fast bless her. Happy enough with it though playing on the iPad.

No fashion news from me today. Will have a v relaxing weekend staying in so will be lounging in Nike and north face. Might pain my nails though.

QueenCadbury · 11/01/2014 11:17

IM is nice in blue too.

BrandyAlexander · 11/01/2014 11:28

Hi NUFC, welcome again!Grin What I love about this thread is the diversity of tastes, incomes and ages. I think its lovely you want to join in, so please do stay! My dmil is late sixties and dm is early 70s both are gorgeous and have fantastic taste in clothes. Both dmil and dm high street girls. Dm prefers stuff direct from the factory outlets and hates paying full price for anything, as she thinks the high street is expensive. She would literally keel over if she ever knew that I spent more than £50 on anything.Grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/01/2014 12:58

Oh Novice I hope your DM never finds out the truth! Grin

Popped into Waitrose to pick up my JL purchase of this bargainous piece and it is a thing of beauty. Love it.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/01/2014 13:07

Sorry - meant to say welcome to NUFC. Never apologise for who you are - we are all different on this thread and Halleluia for that. I love the diversity I find on here, the only constant is the camaraderie and the inspiration is brilliant. Although I've spent more on clothes in the past year than the previous 43!

NUFC69 · 11/01/2014 13:48

Novice, I am a little bit younger than your DM and Dmil. I do mostly shop on the high street, but I appreciate good design and good quality. My best bargains were two Tommy Hilfigger sweaters which I bought in, of all places, Costco in the States in the summer. Cotton, one black and one striped cream and grey; I think the pair were $40.00!

I was introduced to Vogue magazine when I was in my very early 20s; the owner of the private college where I was teaching was beautifully dressed and I took a lot of my inspiration from her. The people on this thread are the only people I know of who read "The Sunday Times" Style section - it's my go-to when the paper arrives.

Believe me, if I had the income I wouldn't worry about spending the cash - my problem is that we also like nice holidays and we only have so much disposable income .... So, as someone who was a child during the frugal fifties, I know where your DM is coming from, but if you can afford nice things, why shouldn't you treat yourselves to them?

shopafrolic · 11/01/2014 13:53

Blimey NUFC I thought from what you'd said earlier you were in your 80s!!! You're an absolute youngster! And love of fashion doesn't die as we get older surely? Please say it doesn't?? Stick around. Your style sounds great.

NUFC69 · 11/01/2014 14:04

I feel old compared to you. The aunt who left me her lovely ring was a fabulous fashionista. I can remember her asking me, when she was in her 90s and I told her I had been into Newcastle, what that season's colours were! I know several ladies in their 80s who are beautifully turned out - so, no, interest in fashion doesn't go away.

shopafrolic · 11/01/2014 14:09

My grandmother lived until she was 99 and still wore a wrap in one of her best colours and lipstick even when in her hospital bed.
You're not old at all. My mum is in her late 70s........ Definitely stay.

On that note I'm going to have a little break so I'll see you Monday. Have lovely weekends. xx

Your style sounds great NUFC, definitely stay Smile

Happy birthday for yesterday Barbie - gorgeous presents btw Envy

I love that IM Etoile jacket too, but I have enough little jackets for a while.

Spa was wonderful yesterday and my skin looks great today, popped into Liberty, there were only two pairs of rockstud high heels, neither in my size. So I'm going to Selfridges this afternoon to look but am anticipating similar situation...so DH says he could ask his friend if he could get some...'why would he be able to?' I ask..' Cos his mum is chief exec of Valentino' Shock...I can't think why he didn't mention that before Hmm!

Hi all Smile
It seems my post from this morning was lost in cyberspace.
ThanksThanks -all round for everyone, I love this tread, even though it might be a while before I make a MU I hope to someday. I think everyone on this tread is nice and welcoming. I love that as novice says, high end or high st, all links and all tastes are welcome.
Happy birthday barbie- EnvyEnvyEnvy at your lovely presents.
Am loving the bag porn from yesterday. Wow ...the Celine... Just wow. And what s not to like about the Marcie? I would love one, in a tan or burgundy.
Drooled over an AH cross body too last week but decided i don't need any more bags.
Shop I ordered the me and em dress during the week to try.
Grumpy and Santa - lovely IM jacket. I really really want last years marant red jacket, but it sold out. WIT had it on her blog. Sad I do an eBay search every so often to see if one s popped up.
Queen C, I really hope you re feeling better. Sounds like quite a scare. Do you think part of it might have been exhaustion ? I only ask as I had a similar virus when DS was small, looking back I can see part of it was being over run, run down and vulnerable (to infection) too. Hope you re resting and recovering -and glad to see the shopping mojo returned quickly.
Hello to all fellow delurkers!
One, did you find some frames?
Marsha, love those yellow flats, did you see the style snob ones too? they were pretty.
Mig - loved your shirt, pin when it arrives ?
Today I m wearing cashmere wrist Warmers, they are so toasty. I need similar for my feet though and I get such cold extremities. Anyone recommend super warm but not super thick socks ? Cashmere socks?
Dh and I are taking the Marni clutch out for cocktails this eveningGrin am super excited. Sparkly skirt, black silk t and heels methinks. Can't wait, haven't had a 'date' with dh since for ages.

Turquoiseblue · 11/01/2014 15:33

Oh an happy birthday for tomorrow sleep- can't think why your dh didn't share that gem of infoGrin

libertychick · 11/01/2014 15:38

That's a shocking lapse by your DH Sleep!!!

Grumpy I think I might love you - that Whistles skirt looks perfect. Have just ordered.

Agree with all the others NUFC - stick around. One of my style crushes is a lady I work with occasionally who I am guessing is around 60 and she has trendy/stylish without looking like mutton totally nailed. I make mental notes every time I see her.

I keep thinking about the IM jacket

Decameron · 11/01/2014 15:43

That Whistles skirt is lovely. 40 Bum featured it on her blog.

My grandmother once took my brand new Russell & Bromley leopard print shoes off my feet and kept them!

The final part of my order arrived from Atterley Rd, this shirt, it's a fab colour, good value for silk and quite a few sizes left.

Decameron · 11/01/2014 15:44

Wow at your DH's friend's mother's job, Sleep!

libertychick · 11/01/2014 16:20

That shirt is lovely Decam but gone in a 12 Sad

libertychick · 11/01/2014 16:23

Have fun on your date tonight Turq outfit sounds great. I love that you and DH are taking the Marni out!

BTW Barbie your DH has amazing taste! You sound like you have been spoiled but you don't sound spoilt! (Hope that makes sense)

Turquoiseblue · 11/01/2014 16:23

Decam I love that shirt, colour is wrong for me but it s lovely.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/01/2014 17:14

Finally - I've seen Barbie's b'day pressies and they are amazing. Does your DH give lessons to more useless types on appropriate gifting? I know a man who would benefit greatly...

Liberty so pleased you got the skirt! It is lovely IRL, John Lewis do have a good selection of reduced Whistles right now, but that was my favourite.

I keep remembering other bits and pieces I've ordered - the Madewell sweatshirt my DBro is bringing back from the US, the pencil skirt from J Crew, the Rag & Bone Jeans (did I mention those?) and the Equipment sweater as well as the Marant jacket. Feel naughty, but I work bloody hard and don't smoke/drink and, TBH, most of the things I buy get worn in the line of work as I often need to be well-turned-out. On the upside, I won't need to get much more this year as I've shopped much more cleverly this past 9 months and have most bases covered (although I'm yearning for a hot pink cashmere crew neck from Boden and my wardrobe should be about complete!)
