Dry I like that one, I think Decameron May have it or at least has recommended it.
One you are absolutely right you don't have to have a huge budget just choose fabrics carefully and be prepared to hunt stuff out. Also knowing what suits your shape makes a huge difference to how well put together you look. As I said before I am getting it right more often than I did.
Hi silverGrin

OneLittleLady · 01/01/2014 22:10

I get it right more often than not now but I will alter things if I can if they're not quite right. I chop off sleeves, alter necklines, turn dresses into skirts, add beading/lace/ribbons to plain vest tops and remove trims/beads etc if something would look better without it, that kind of thing.

Mignonette · 01/01/2014 22:13

My affirmation is to experiment more with clothing and be more adventurous.

I loved twirling in my Tulip Midi skirt last night. It was all sparkly. I rarely really 'dress up' and much prefer the high/low look. Even my sparkly skirt was paired with a sweater and Brogues. But a cracking lipstick!

I am going to set up a sparkly glittery pinboard. I want more of it in my life but I need to integrate it with day clothing.

I also want to move into the countryside. I want to have a garden with hammocks and a day bed and a vine covered piazza. I want more of an inside/outside home. I would like a bespoke library room too. Husband can carpenter me one (or whatever the term is!)

I want to be more sociable IRL. I get quite anxious about meeting new people socially whereas in work settings I was sure of myself and my abilities.

I want my dental surgery to be over. It inhibits my confidence and has been a long painful ordeal (implants because of falling off horse/broken jaw dental injuries years ago) to replace crappy crowns and bridge.

Kindness is all. That doesn't mean being sappy (sometimes people nned to hear things they'd rather not).

One There can be a process of psychological adjustment to weight loss because you may have become accustomed to minimising aspects of yourself for a long time. That constant motif of "That'll disguise that bit" or 'That'll make me look slimmer" takes a toll upon your psyche and it is hard not to allow this to permeate to all aspects of your being and life.

Take time. Give it time. The two sides will integrate especially if you maintain old pleasures and activities-ones associated with the past you.

justasecond · 01/01/2014 22:16

Round my way it's mostly Boden (all the fun prints) and white stuff sort of clothes are v popular. Even DH who has no fashion sense was horrified when he did the school run one day before xmas. Sorry if that sounds really snobby, I hope yswim. This is why I come on here and read blogs etc.
I love your blog btw Silver just had a quick look and have bookmarked for later, you are so clever, wish I could sew.

OneLittleLady · 01/01/2014 22:17

I think part of it Mig is that I'm so used to being in the background, being quiet and not noticed that it's coming as quite a shock when I see people and they comment on my clothes or my shape changes. Despite an upturn in it, I'm still not a very confident person at all, I ate drawing attention to myself as it scares me deeply. I know I need to get past it and I'm working on it, slowly Smile

OneLittleLady · 01/01/2014 22:18

hate not ate Blush

Mignonette · 01/01/2014 22:28

People will get used to your new shape One. Be prepared for negative reactions by some people who will advise you 'not to lose too much' and what it may well be is envy disguised as concern.

You'll get there my lovely Flowers

RubyLovesShopping · 01/01/2014 22:31

I'm currently on a mission to replace my school run casual stuff, my anna order from yesterday and have also just ordered these these jeans and this because I just liked it plus whistles Freya shirt in green for £19 which can no longer link, must've been last one and a stripe jumper, similar colours to the grey/beige anna order. Once it all arrives will have a huge trying on session- hopefully coinciding with the dc return to school.

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 22:33

I love the jeans and bangle Ruby. what's the other link? In fact I am tempted to add those jeans to my order.

shopafrolic · 01/01/2014 22:34

I sent that cuff back Ruby as the calf hair but wasn't glued neatly. Not so important for £10 I guess but just so you know. Love the bargainous jeans.

RubyLovesShopping · 01/01/2014 22:40

these Marsha, didn't realise I had linked the same ones twice!
Hmm shop will see what it's like, even for £10 it will go back if the quality is poor.

shopafrolic · 01/01/2014 22:40

Some fab jeans and dresses on AR

shopafrolic · 01/01/2014 22:45

And cheap Pettys......

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 22:45

I really should get one from there.

NoDrywhitepleaseeveragain · 01/01/2014 22:56

Oh my god Grumpy your friend's hats are amazing. I adore the peacock butterfly she is wearing on her website, my kind of understated head gearGrin Just adore it. I'll pin a pic of me in a head piece I had made for my sis wedding. I loved it and sometimes just get it out to try on and wish I could wear it again. I love wearing hats, posh hats, beanies don't suit me at all Grin

OneLittleLady · 01/01/2014 22:56

love THIS DRESS bit unsure with it being sleeveless though as I don't have toned upper arms

BecauseIsaidS0 · 01/01/2014 23:07

One, just stick a poloneck underneath, that dress is very pretty!

Back from Sherlock now (I'm not much into BC but man, that snog was sexy).

My fashion New Year's resolutions are:

  • To start wearing makeup beyond "no makeup makeup"
  • To start looking more pulled together.

These two, of course, kind of clash with my non fashion one, which is to do more yoga. I already do enough yoga so that I'm too tired to put as much effort on my appearance as I would like, but I'm trying to convince myself that it can be done, it is just a matter of getting organized.

Turquoiseblue · 01/01/2014 23:09

Hello all you lovely ladies.
Firstly, novice, thinking of you and your dsis. So sorry to read it wasn't the news you hoped for. Hoping and wishing that it hasn't spread and was caught early.
Much love and happy wishes to you all, lovely messages for new year. I d like to add my thoughts and thank you all for being so welcoming. Like some of you say, I ve always loved and adored fashion and trends, styles, patterns, ways of wearing, customising, designing ...anything fashiony! I remember 'designing' clothes for my dolls and barbies when I was young - and wanted to study or work in fashion but my parents wouldn't hear of it! I m not especially original or artistic really so probably best off. Lots of my friends know my love of fashion but not all share the same understanding. It s been lovely finding you all here. And whilst my budget isn't the highest coming to this tread is teaching me more and more about buying quality not quantity and thinking before I do buy!
That said today I found a bag I adore ! The lovely Sophie hulme one I have pinned here i love it! and this too cute . however a pair of velvet skinny j brands and khaki photo ready s are were are on their way back to where they came from - cant find a link tho sorry, so annoying that they don't do a longer length, they all seem to end above my ankles. Back to MIH for me.

Am waiting on a delivery from me and em will link when they arrive.
And there's me that said I was uninspired by the sales.

Sorry not to make this individual- happy new year to all.

Decameron · 01/01/2014 23:15

Dry, love the new name! I have a couple of M by MJ bags, they don't seem too popular here but I like them.

Marsha, like the yellow for you.

Shop, sorry about your dog, I still miss my little Jack Russell.

Well done One. Wise words from Mignonette.

Grumpy, those hats are fabulous.

That Raoul skirt looks great, Liberty.

Hi to the new people!

Went to Westfield today mostly for shopping for DH (the poor DDs were so bored, he is a sloooow shopper) but had a little look for me, didn't see anything. I decided to return the DVF bag and start an amazing bag fund but then ordered a red silk Des Petit Hauts blouse from Atterley Rd. The shopping ban is going well...

MarshaBrady · 01/01/2014 23:18

Turq lovely links. The S Hulme is gorgeous.

Decam and Dry I really like M by MJ bags after seeing friends with a couple in rl.

justasecond · 01/01/2014 23:56

I really like MbMJ bags too. I would love this one www.shopbop.com/too-hot-handle-mini-shopper/vp/v=1/1575720155.htm
waiting for it to go on sale.

Barbie1 · 02/01/2014 00:11

Gosh, I'm making a mental note never to read this thread when it's 'that time of the month' you have all turned me into a snotty, red eyed mess!

Feels like I'm slightly intruding, you have all got such a lovely bond and it's truly a joy to read. Being a newbie on here I'm still getting to know you all so bear with me on the lack of personal messages. Hopefully this coming year I will firmly find my feet and be able to contribute towards this wonderful thread more.

novice so so sorry about your dsis. Having nursed my mum through cancer I know the daunting, lonely, frightening road you will soon be embarking on. Draw strength from the places you can, I am happy to talk if you want to.

shop our chocolate lab was put to sleep last year, truly the hardest decision to make Sad my dd still talks about him everyday. Thoughts are with you.

Elemis, shop was it you that got the big pot? Lucky lady Smile it's true the life of the product isn't long once opened as it's an active ingredient base. I wouldn't put fingers in the pot, use a plastic spatula instead. You could always decant some into an airtight glass jar. Store away from light and in a cool place.

Thanks for adding me on pintrest, I'm still finding my feet so bare with me Grin

Did i wish you all a Happy NY? Ds got the vomiting bug so my new year was spent doing laundry.

Sorry this post is rather jumbled Blush dd has been complaining of sore legs for a few weeks and stupidly I googled and now I'm stupidly worried she has something serious wrong with her. Just waiting for hospital to open so she can have her bloods taken and X-rays.

Speak soon

libertychick · 02/01/2014 00:15

I have just done another Atterley Road order! All on here. Copying you Decam with the Julie Brandt top! I do like MbMJ bags - I just find the lining off putting.

The AV dress has been further reduced to £39 - I paid £65 but it's now gone in the 12 so I have ordered in the 10 in the lower price just in case the 10 might be ok - the 12 is fairly generous so fingers crossed.

Must go back and look properly at tonight's links. Shop so sorry about your dog Flowers

santamarianovella · 02/01/2014 04:23

And please dont feel like an intruder, welove having you here,
,newbies, lurkers,de lurkers are all welcome here, its always great when new members join.

Must try to sleep a bit before dcs get up!

Barbie1 · 02/01/2014 04:28

santa hope you get back to sleep.
I'm hoping dd has nothing more sinister than 'growing pains' however she has also been complaining of constant sore tummy which could just be an excuse not to eat. Since having children I seem to have developed an health anxiety so best get it checked right?

How old is your dd? Best wishes for Monday.
