£250 to spend on a bag... What would you buy?

I need a new main handbag as my old faithful lovely brown leather one I use for work has started to break after almost 10 years.

My budget is £250ish but I can't seem to find anything between Topshop and Mulberry that I like.

Do your worst, bag ladies.

Rebecca minkoff for sure Smile

RobotLover68 · 25/11/2013 16:55

Michael Kors

sidneypie · 25/11/2013 16:58

elskovs - oh yes I would. I very rarely carry a bag at all. I wouldn't consider spending that much money on any item of clothing or accessory.

OTheHugeManatee · 25/11/2013 17:00

Modalu Sedgewick, in Oxblood. I have stopped myself from buying it just now because we're about to move house and need all the money for renovations etc but it's on my list of Nice Things When I Can Grin

TSSDNCOP · 25/11/2013 17:01

vair nice and you'll have a pound left for the carol singers Grin

hermioneweasley · 25/11/2013 17:06

I was wondering why one of the sanctimonious crowd hadn't been along yet, glad they didn't disappoint!

AmberNectarine · 25/11/2013 17:09

It really must be exhausting being so worthy. Keep an eye on the Outnet OP, you can get some cracking bargains on there if your timing is right!

elskovs · 25/11/2013 17:15

OK, youre not into bags then Sidney.

Still I don't believe for a second you would give the money saved to charity... the type of person who would be so generous isn't the type of person to slag off others online

cloggal · 25/11/2013 17:32

I actually rather love this wee Orla Kiely one www.theoutnet.com/product/410029

LonelyGoatherd · 25/11/2013 17:35

sidney I'm pretty impressed with the OP's sustainable shopping - one bag at £250 in 10 years is surely better than yearly cheap ones? Plus (not all, but some) more expensive brands have much happier supply chains.
Anyway, you've convinced me to go for the Coach one which I was hesitating over. Cheers Wine.

LonelyGoatherd · 25/11/2013 17:35

And before you say it, I know you don't have to buy a bag every year, but in my experience, my cheapy £15 ones don't last that long.

Workberk · 25/11/2013 18:27

Lonely my last bag was a lot cheaper too so the cost per use is practically negative ;)

All the things I've bought that I thought were maybe a wee bit too expensive at the time are the things I've worn the most and am still wearing years later. That can't be a coincidence.

That Coach one is lovely and looks really practical too, I'm tempted.

For that price Coach, Kate Spade or Michael Kors...

sidneypie · 25/11/2013 18:51

elskovs - the only one 'slagging' anyone off is you! The OP asked 'What would you buy?' and I answered. If you want to name call here's one for you 'shallow'

dexter73 · 25/11/2013 19:16

Actually she said I have £250 to spend on a bag, not what should I spend £250 on, so you didn't answer her question.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 25/11/2013 19:48

Michael kors. I have a jerset chain tote and it's lovely.

I did buy a radley half price for 89.50 that's lovely but the leather is quite stiff. Hopefully it will get better with use.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 25/11/2013 19:48

Jetset not jerset

tracypenisbeaker · 25/11/2013 19:55

6p on a Lidl bag, the rest on a dirt cheap package holiday.

tracypenisbeaker · 25/11/2013 19:57

Na, if I was going to spend that on a bag I'd go for Michael Kors.

MarshaBrady · 25/11/2013 19:59

The outnet is good for that price. I'd go for Michael Kors , Marc Jacobs or Anya Hindmarch.

FracturedViewOfLife · 25/11/2013 20:02

I have just found this Double the budget and ridiculously impractical but I love it.

Anya Hindmarch in the sale - I have a Huxley tote and it's delicious. Look at ones around the £500 mark as often they will go to 50% off. You might get lucky with a Maxi Zip cross body in a seasonal colour. Or hit an outlet village like Bicester?

Marc by Marc Jacobs bags also lovely, I have several and they're all gorgeous smooshy leather and so well made for the money.

Anther brand worth looking at might be Botkier - I have a Sasha bag and it's fab. Not that well known here, US brand. Also beautifully made.

Allthingsprettyreturns · 26/11/2013 08:04

Tk Maxx would be my first port of call
Modalu

Levantine · 26/11/2013 11:20

I would definitely wait for the sales. Mimi Berry often has quite good reductions and her bags are lovely
