Lol that made me laugh (for real). Am watching a movie called W. about George W Bush and it just hit me that it's got the same things in it as a book American Wife, which I thought was fiction. Should have known!

shopafrolic · 18/10/2013 22:34

I watched Wanderlust tonight - I really can't sink much lower can I? Grin

Mig Grin

I really enjoyed that book, Marsha.

Grumpy, ouch at the sore mouth.

Enjoy your free time, Santa.

Hope you have fun tonight and tomorrow, QueenC.

Hope you are feeling a bit better tonight, Foxy. Maybe you can call in a few playdate favours over half term?

I found a coat I like, put a photo on MNV for your perusal.

I need details of your coat too, Ruby!

Your hair really suits you short, Shop.

Did anyone buy anything from the Shopbop sale? I ordered grey J Brands but UPS changed the delivery date from yesterday to today and now Monday. They are really bad in comparison to Fedex. Anyway, worth waiting for as much cheaper than buying here. Also met a friend from NY last night who brought me over a navy cashmere J Crew Tippi, my pink M by MJ bag arrived, love the colour, and got a couple of tops in Banana Republic. DH has been working all the hours so I think I have been distracting myself with no wine for Sober October by shopping in the evenings!

mignonette · 18/10/2013 23:22

Have pulled head out from under my cushion Blush.

Am half expecting an irate communique from said man at breaching his privacy.....

T'was my moment of celeb glory but I was only 18/19. Very young.

I've read American Wife Marsha (Quickly changes subject). Yes, it is based on Laura Bush. I devoured the Kitty Kelley biography of the Bushes. Loads of low level dirt there.

Annianni · 18/10/2013 23:37

Morning Voguettes! Busy few days for me. We finally exchanged contracts on new house yesterday! To celebrate, I finally got the credit card out of mothballs....Wink

shopafrolic · 19/10/2013 08:37

Morning all! Huge congratulagtions Novice that's put a big smile on my face this morning.
No viewings for us this weekend unfortunately Hmm
Today I'm wearing A&W navy chinos, MNV orange cashmere sweater, tan Hudsons. Am off out with DS to a friend's house this morning - she's kind of like my 2nd mum and has some fab tales from the 60s and 70s when she used to know Bowie et al.
I slept on things last night and have decided I need to make more effort to read. I love it, but am always knackered so rubbish TV wins out. So my question for you all is, what is the best book you've read in the last 6 months?

OP posts:
foxysocks · 19/10/2013 08:51

Oooo shop. Good qu. I read loads, but the one that sprung to mind immediately is Life after Life by Kate Atkinson. You must read it.

I am in bed with tea. Slept solid nine hours after my tramadol/diazepam cocktail before bed. Best sleep in weeks. Still feel sensation in my shoulder and arm but it is a lot better.

I am freaking out a bit about a few building things. The cooker hood is way lower than I was expecting, apparently it has to be a regulation height over the stove top for the extractor to work? Has anyone come across this?

No idea what I will wear, supposed to rain here later and two of our downstairs loo choices are apparently unusable so we need to go back to the showroom, gaaaaaaah.

I am feeling massive need to be cosy right now. wrapped up and safe. maybe a jumper dress with big scarf, or cashmere and loose jeans.

Drywhiteplease · 19/10/2013 08:52

Morning! Celebrity shagging?!!!!!Shock blimey, I go out and miss that! Grin sounds like a good night QueenC
Congrats Novice
Shop I read all sorts of books....just finished "The husband's secret" which was quite good. Loved "How to be a woman" by Caitlin Moran . I have all time favorites though, should pin them. Marsha "An American wife" was excellent a few years ago.
I'm reading "a Casual vacancy" started on train back from MU.....will have to re read it because I "wasn't really concentrating" Wink

QueenCadbury · 19/10/2013 08:58

I feel rough Grin

novice what are you buying....?

shop you should consider joining a book club as then you have to read.

Last night I wore a black short shift dress which is years old but I love it. Accessorised with dolly shoes, silver bracelets and bright pink lips. I decided that pink lipstick suits me much better than red so I'll be wearing that at my party. Like dry though I have matchy matchy tendencies so I'll be doing pink nails too which means I can't wear red shoes so I will be returning them. Unless I find something else this week I'll be wearing black shoes with the westwood. Will that look ok do you think?

Drywhiteplease · 19/10/2013 09:01

Sounds good to me QueenC although not sure you need to match shoes to lippy and nail.

Just reading paper.....why oh why does K Middleton insist on wearing those hideous wedges with her skinny jeans? Hardly needs the height, just look awful.......or is it just me?

QueenCadbury · 19/10/2013 09:09

I'd just feel a but clashing wearing pink and red Confused. I'd be worried it would look unintentional rather than on trend.

Those shoes of KM truly are awful. I'm sure the flash of the toned midriff was intentional though.

shopafrolic · 19/10/2013 09:13

Yup - read How to Be A Woman - v funny. I used to be a book club member but the one I joined was too little time talking about the book, too much time talking about the kids, and no wine.
Yes please Pin them Dry
No idea about cooker hoods Foxy sorry but glad you got a good night's sleep and will check out your book recommendation.
QueenC black shoes will be lovely - I can definitely see you with pink lipstick rather than red..... and agree with Dry no need to match nails and lip.

Decameron · 19/10/2013 09:13

Congratulations, Novice.

I've just finished Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell, which I loved Shop.

Just saw this coat which I have on Cocosa if anyone is looking for a red coat. Here.

Drywhiteplease · 19/10/2013 09:22

Foxy no idea! but electrician coming Mon so I can ask him......mine's quite high
Will do Shop , depends what you like though!
I'm a thriller person (any K Atkinson Jackson Brodie ,CJ Sansom the Matthew Shardlake books! loved laarsson obv)
then soppy romance (Birdsong is an all time fav, Guernica by Dave Bolling is incredible set in Spanish Civil war, any v Hislop, "The seamstress" mixes fashion and espionage, loved it)
And I'm nosey so like a good biog......"a bit of a Blur" by Alex whatever is great and he's dishy too , Chris Evans books are light and good, B Grills is inspiring, Rupert Everett is bitchy.
Will Pin later

Drywhiteplease · 19/10/2013 09:22
