Morning all. All this food talk is making me hungry! I'm sure we have some eggs hiding in the fridge so I might just have to have some.

mignonette · 14/10/2013 10:19

Shop That hat is one for your clubbing days.

Sleep Can imagine there is something in that theory. I think Ice Cream is the ultimate comfort and if you eat the good quality stuff especially Gelato, you don't need to eat much of it for satisfaction. I can eat PB if it is in foods but couldn't eat it as a spread. I do love Omelettes so maybe could make a little two egg one with spring onion and a little cheese and just suck it up re cooking so early.

mignonette · 14/10/2013 10:20

That soup will go down a storm Liberty. I make a Mexican Chicken pot dish with rice, potato and carrot with a teeny hint of chile. It is the ultimate comfort in colder times.

shopafrolic · 14/10/2013 10:20

Liberty you have to call / go online with DHL and rebook delivery - they won't leave it with a neighbour. Or you can collect from the depot I think.....

OneLittleLady · 14/10/2013 10:30

Mig I drool over your talk of ice cream ( and your pinboard of it) but it does my stomach no favours. No detail as it's gross but I have a bad stomach whenever i eat ice cream so avoid it Sad

mignonette · 14/10/2013 10:31

I Hate this side bar advertising. Stop it MN!

One me too but I am a masochist.

libertychick · 14/10/2013 10:32

Crap - I want a Malene Birger dress!! DH will not sit in all day for me - he does stuff out and about with DD all the time and I cannot work all day from home any day this week - I am restricted to online sellers who will leave in the porch!!! I'm blaming you for all of this Shop pointing out that they have nice things today

OneLittleLady · 14/10/2013 10:38

I'm a wimp mig so avoid the pain Grin

mignonette · 14/10/2013 10:47

Some total git outbid me in the last minute by one pound for one of my bags. My the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits. Grin

Annianni · 14/10/2013 10:53

Thanks Liberty, so if I made a big pot later, it would be ok for lunch tomorrow... and I could freeze some?

Do you have any friendly neighbours, family local etc where you could get it delivered to?
Or Google your local dhl office.
Mine's 30 miles away, so I've never used that option.

Annianni · 14/10/2013 10:53

Oh bummer Mig!!!

shopafrolic · 14/10/2013 11:30

Sorry Liberty. Could you call the Outnet, pay for it but get them to ship it next week? Or deliver it to me! :)

LinusDKD · 14/10/2013 13:13

Something for shop?

H Lang

The colour is called charcoal but to me it looks a bit olive-y

Decameron · 14/10/2013 13:33

Glad you enjoyed meeting up!

Bummer about the bag, Mig. My mother used to say "may the fleas of a thousand camels ..." too, you made me smile there. I don't like peanut butter but almond butter is nice on ryvita with banana for a quick breakfast.

I am a healthy eater, my mother died youngish from cancer so try to be careful as I'm getting older, I don't have a sweet tooth, don't like fizzy drinks or juice and only eat brown rice but my portion sizes are too big. Oh and I like a glass of wine (or two, being honest!) Thurs-Sun but have given that up for Oct. I have a bit of a muffin top in lower waisted jeans, I suppose I need more exercise, how do I get rid of a muffin top, Sleep? I'd rather go to a spin class or go for a fast walk than do Shred but hard with DD2 and DH leaves early and is never home until late.

Liberty, do you have a nice neighbour who would sign for your deliveries?

I tried on some lovely Maxmara coats yesterday and really keen on these boots but my hands are tied until I get credit card refunds, grrr.

Decameron · 14/10/2013 13:35

I love cheese too. Esp with wine. 17 days to go!

shopafrolic · 14/10/2013 13:39

Linus I spotted those and was tempted but was unsure about the colour......... great minds eh? :)

Mominatrix · 14/10/2013 14:31

shop I can totally see you in the Helmut Langs, plus it would look great with your coat.

Liberty I'd call the Outnet and see if they can hold delivery - I have done this before when we were in between houses (not with the Outnet, but another big on-line/catalog company) and it was not a problem.

Cheese and a glass of wine is my weakness. All kind of cheese, but my guilty pleasure is a properly grilled cheese sandwich. I mean one where the bread is griddled on butter with a mixture of cheeses with a bit of mustard inside (gruyere, comte, emmental are my favourite). The best bit are the caramelised bits which ooze out from the middle and get sizzled on the grill until they are crispy. Ah, heaven.

QueenC - I'm going to stop by Westfield tomorrow to make an exchange at Uniqlo, and will seek the dark green cardi for you. Will keep you updated.

MarshaBrady · 14/10/2013 15:17

Hello lovely voguettes.

Had a meeting this morning out of London, so dh took the day off work to look after ds2. I adore coming home to people instead of the other way round, just every so often.

Food chat is interesting. I have got rid of sugar, because I feel better and because it seems to stop terrible bloat. . I know where I put on weight, my tummy. and keeping away from sugar is a good thing for me. On the plus side I love cheese, espresso, no sugar and all that type of stuff so I don't find it hard. The big thing which I loved about eating this way is that it cuts out diet low fat food. That was a revelation.

Also after ds2 I was SO sleep-deprived I was practically mainlining the stuff and felt better without it.

Shop you sausage, you are tall and slim!

Love the Helmut Lang skinnies Linus / Shop and the R&B boots Decam.

MarshaBrady · 14/10/2013 15:50

And Dry love those metallic heels. What a great buy!

santamarianovella · 14/10/2013 15:59

mig I'm writing that phrase down for the future Grin, I've never heard it before, shame about the bag, and I forgot to say well done on quitting your job,

Very interesting food talk,I never diet, never believed in them, did the Kimberley snider raw food health plan for a week and was so ill afterwords, horrible horrible!
, and I agree with sleep and mom, fat free dairy tastes so artificial,I d rather have the real greek yougart veraity than the artifical sweetened ones,my weakness is bread ,and I do have a sweet tooth that I try to control, but find very difficult,I believe you can have everything in moderation,

Mom,after reading your post ,I'm going to have a proper grilled cheese sandwich, for dinner yum!

mignonette · 14/10/2013 16:06

Hi Santa. I love that phrase. I 'won' my other bag and am bidding on a third.

Lovely Helmuts Linus and Shop.

Sleepwhenidie · 14/10/2013 16:16

Just back from school run and managed to squeeze in a quick coffee and chat with gorgeous Liberty - lovely to see you Smile!

Mom I am not a massive fan of cheese but your description of that sandwich sounds gorgeous!

Decam - it sounds like you aren't particularly overweight but hold on to the last few pounds around your tummy, like many of us? It's a tricky area because no matter what exercises you do to strengthen the muscles there (I would recommend planks, side planks and seated side twists with a medicine ball or weight), if the layer of fat remains then you won't see the benefit Sad. I think Shred is fantastic but generally would advise doing whatever you enjoy in order to do it consistently. I am also evangelical about weight training and think all of us should build some into our routine, even if just bodyweight exercises. Exercise wise, to burn fat, interval training is hard to beat. This is essentially what JM does with Shred and also spinning does it to an extent, but you could add in some sprints to your run or just do some sets of burpees at home (see how many you can manage in one go, it will vary massively according to your fitness but go to your limit) then rest for a minute and repeat 5 or 6 times.

Also its worth mentioning that belly fat retention is closely related to stress. This may be stress in our generally accepted sense - busy/rushed lifestyle etc, but equally could be caused by lack of sleep, prolonged/excessive cardio training, general unhappiness with some area of life (work, relationships, health, money) or factors in our environment that we are sensitive to - such as lots of mess or pollution Smile.

Nice shoes Dry Smile

Matches sale appears to have started but I don't recall even liking anything on there this season anyway - not normal Confused - so I think I am going to avoid clicking and browsing, especially after another chat with DH last week about watching the spending for a bit Hmm.

Decameron · 14/10/2013 16:58

Thanks Sleep, yes, in ok shape apart from that area. I guess I will have to give Shred a go until I can get to classes again. I'd like to try kick boxing.

I don't want anything from the Matches sale either (checks pulse).

MarshaBrady · 14/10/2013 17:08

Is that the a/w sale already? It's rather random.

shopafrolic · 14/10/2013 17:54

What Matches sale?!
