Anni I like your style :) Not sure why I came so far down the list though.......

Annianni · 10/10/2013 11:56

Soz Shop Thanks

QueenCadbury · 10/10/2013 12:15

Did anyone else have problems getting onto MN last night? I was a bit lost without you all. Had another crappy nights sleep. Dd2 just wanted cuddles. She's being really clingy to me at the moment but I can't get dh to deal with her as he's on call all week so needs his sleep more than me. According to dd2 "I coming to London with you mummy". Not likely Grin.

foxy if you can't remember what I look like, I'll be the one with the hollow eyes with dark circles. Ditto for all of you to recognise me on Saturday!

dry I feel you pain. Work was done on our house by a cowboy. Whenever we have stuff done all the electricians/plumbers/builders can't understand how or why things have been done. When our kitchen was ripped out we found damp along the wall that had cupboards which was due to a pipe from the downstairs loo taped together and hence leaking.

novice great news on the sealed bids but hope you get the insurance sorted.

shop hope yours sells as well as novices.

marsha glad you're enjoying work. It must be nice to dip in and out of it rather than having a fixed commitment each week.

Dh is still stressing about money so once I've been to London I really am going to have to stop spending. I know, I know, it's been said a million times before but I hate seeing him so stressed about it. We really need to make a proper effort to start saving for secondary school too.

My birthday list comprises of a watch, green fossil bag a new wallet. I also wanted a couple if scarves but the only ones I can find in the colours I want are from kettlewell so I my just go for them. I also wanted some kind of cuff/statement bracelet but haven't managed to find anything I truly love. I thought I wanted rose gold but have since realised it looks rubbish on me.

Decameron · 10/10/2013 12:20

I saw that, thanks Shop (and nice scarf), I like it. I am owed £620 in refunds from Burberry and Whistles though so have to wait for that. I've seen a few coats I like but will wait for the Christmas sales and buy some basics now and a pink bag I've spotted on sale and wanted last summer.

It's definitely cashmere weather. I ordered this earlier. Anni, my friend is bring me over a navy cashmere Tippi from the US next week, I have it in another colour and recommend.

Stop with the talk of wine, I've given up for October for Macmillan. I should have just gone to a coffee morning.

I used to find questions about having babies very annoying as DH didn't want children for years (now he'd like more but too late!) and have several friends who went through IVF, so I would never ask. People are mostly just curious, I suppose.

Decameron · 10/10/2013 12:22

*bringing

Sleepwhenidie · 10/10/2013 12:35

Grin at being on Anni's Christmas list! Not sure I'd fit in the stocking!

That scarf is beautiful Shop - doesn't look like chiffon though Confused, looks heavier and warmer, lovely.

I am contemplating this sweater, funnily enough this is the one I saw in Anna and was talking to you about last month Shop, except the one I suggested for you was forest green. I'm not delighted with the grey stars and stripes asos one, went for xs and it is a little too tight around the top of my arms (that will be the muscles Grin), I think I am going to give it to my little sis for her birthday though.

at outstanding refunds Decam

I think MN crashed last night due to the (admittedly amusing) penis dunking thread going viral all over Twitter and FB Hmm - I couldn't get on either.

QueenCadbury · 10/10/2013 12:36

Where do I find this penis dunking thread....??

QueenCadbury · 10/10/2013 12:37

Found It

mignonette · 10/10/2013 12:40

Queen yes, PenisBeaker brought down the MotherShip.

All I want for Christmas is my Miu Miu Coat. DD is staying over on Christmas Eve so am very pleased as missed her dreadfully last year and she missed waking up to her stocking with us.

God it is foul outside. Proper dark and stormy. I handed in my notice yesterday Grin and feel very relieved. Am off to Germany tomorrow night too so want the weather to pick up. Maybe I'll walk past Novice at LHR and not know it. She seems to be living there PT.

Have got on dark grey Helmut cigarette legs, my Great Plains pale aqua sweatshirt, cream and navy Breton and ACNE boots. Still cold.

OneLittleLady · 10/10/2013 12:48

Me too QueenC MN just wouldn't load. I figured it was the beaker thread because half the population of my FB were posting links to it Grin

shopafrolic · 10/10/2013 12:52

Well done Mig I bet that's a weight off your shoulders?

Decameron · 10/10/2013 12:55

Congratulations on handing in your notice, Mignonette, that must feel good!

Annianni · 10/10/2013 13:13

Yay! Well done Mig Thanks

I'm waiting for a couple of pieces from Whistles, a stripe linen tee that I tried in the Summer, and a huge navy sweater.

I want to try M&S's navy cashmere crew neck.
The frugality said they were nice last week, and I have a £20 voucher to spend.

mignonette · 10/10/2013 13:15

It feels good although I am sure I will have a few wobbles at some point. I am ready for a new chapter in our lives though. I'm under no illusion that freelance writing will pay my bills but I want to give it a go and do other things alongside it too (such as MN local).

More time for shopping too!

Decameron · 10/10/2013 13:25

M&S cashmere is good, Anni.

QueenCadbury · 10/10/2013 14:25

Oh wow, that's great mig. It must be such a relief.

libertychick · 10/10/2013 14:29

Anni I am wearing an M&S cashmere cardi today that I bought last year and have been thinking all morning I must get another one. Went to M&S at lunchtime to have a look but not a great selection of cashmere in the one I went to but I did buy the red animal print scarf you linked recently - it's lovely.

I have decided I need dark grey (maybe wool) trousers for work and still hunting for the perfect navy skirt. I tried on a really lovely grey wool Ralph Lauren blazer in TKMaxx yesterday. Was a perfect fit (I got a couple of compliments while I was trying it on) but I decided against as I have several grey jackets.

Wow Mig - how exciting! Do you have to work 3 months notice?

QueenC my DH worries about money all the time too.

Penis beaker thread had me weeping with laughter but it was a real PITA not being able to chat last night.

shopafrolic · 10/10/2013 14:35

Pics slowly loading up you know where.......

mignonette · 10/10/2013 14:38

I have to give two months notice but am negotiating that because I am owed so much holiday. I have been slowly shedding my patient load and taking on more managerial stuff mainly to assuage my guilt over potentially leaving patients in the lurch. It can take so long for them to get to trust you making transfer to another care coordinator tricky for them. We are taking on a newly qualified RMN (dual trained) student with exceptional abilities and I have been mentoring him for the 12 weeks. He has been co-working many of my patients and will take the less complex ones on. It will be a shock but I have done my time/paid my dues for a while. I may do the odd bank shift to maintain my registration until it expires but am in two minds as to what to do about re-registering after that.

So it'll be a spending brake on me for a while although I haven't been particularly profligate although I realise to some people I might appear to be just that.

I had some fantastic Karma news the other day. Do you all recall my mentioning the Nurse manager that was such a bully? well it appears that after taking forced redundancy a few months ago, he now has a new job- as a sewage worker. Grin. Not that I am decrying that line of work but if you knew him you'd realise what a horror this must be for him. Ha Ha!

OneLittleLady · 10/10/2013 14:54

Some people need a good dose of karma Mig so perhaps it will do the person in question some good to have what they might feel is a 'lesser' position in life.

I know a few people due a dose of karma. Some people just don't seem to realise that they are really not the bees knees and are just like everyone else and that they should treat everyone else with same respect that they demand for themselves.

mignonette · 10/10/2013 15:13

I just like the idea of a man who caused so much shit for others being up to his literal neck in it One.

OneLittleLady · 10/10/2013 15:19

it sounds very fitting mig perhaps he'll learn something from it though I suspect not

mignonette · 10/10/2013 15:20

I am hoping he'll be overcome by Methane fumes and do the Human Race a favour and keel over....Grin. Bitter? Who, Moi?

Annianni · 10/10/2013 15:38

Oh dear Mig, what a shame for him :o

I need advice, got a form to fill in for Ds2 starting nursery at Ds1's school next year when he's 3.
Do I want him going for mornings or the afternoon?
I can choose up to 5 sessions over the week.

I'm thinking mornings, so I can mumsnet and shop do my jobs at home and we'll have the afternoons free.

Ds1 was in a private nursery at this age, so I didn't have any of this palaver!

mignonette · 10/10/2013 15:45

Anni - If you don't mind that early morning rush to get ready and get out of the house then Mornings. I used to love coming home to that empty house w/ a paper to read, a radio to listen to and blissful uninterrupted me time. Then in the afternoon they come home full of tales to tell, have something to eat and hopefully crash out tired later on.

I loved my mornings off when i wasn't at work. Lovely.
