Is there ANYTHING nice in Next?

I'm in dire need of some new clothes & have a Next account that I can use. I've not bought anything from there for ages at it all just seemed a bit meh last time I looked.

Is there anything decent in there? In particular I'm looking for black leggings with tummy covering, skinny jeans (high rise if poss) and perhaps some ankle boots & going out tops. I'm a 10/12 (well 10 in Next sizing)

I am not a next fan at all, and went in today to look for vest tops, but came away with these shaping high waisted skinnies.....

Haven't bought anything in Next ever, and worry that these will sag in time, but have got them on now and am impressed. Am a pear shaped sz8.

I highly recommend the PU front panel leggings. They are amazing. Just haven't figured out WTF to wear on my feet.

he's cute, but DD2 might laugh at me

But, yes there is too much grey grey makes my skin look dull and highlights the grey in my hair and I look 10 years older - V bad at 45

I went with dp to one near us as he gets his work trousers there. I saw a couple of things a blue fluffy baggy jumper which was nice and a tartan top. I left with 2 lampshades!

Next jeans do go baggy quickly and there is something up with the arse on them or the pockets that can make a good bum look bad.

I'm amazed at how similar Next's clothes are to M&S's - that's not a compliment!

I used to buy a couple of things from the petite range each season but this year nothing. Sizing is insane with even some of the size 6 stuff too large for my petite frame. The clothes, frankly, all cheap and ugly.
I rather like their kids clothes for DC though.

My sister bought the dress that Betsy linked to upthread - the black jewelled cuff one, and it is absolutely lovely on, really flattering. When I think about it I have a couple of nice Next dresses that I wear to work - jersey quite casual ones. But I still rarely get anything these days. Agree about the petite range scarlet it is weird - I am only 5'2" and their petite jeans are far too long on me!

I've got some high waisted shorts from there that are excellent, but there's nothing else I rate there at the moment.

I am just back from Next. I bought two suits and a top.

I don't get all the hatred towards Next! It's like any shop, some of it is awful and some of it is nice.

I'm wearing this blue/black dress with these fab black courts and I feel good! I actually got the shoes in LKB but you can get them in Next also!

does not want to hear any bad things about Next as its all I can afford since ds arrived

I bought a duffle coat in navy which is marvellously comfortable, some multi buckle ankle boots which are really versatile and I can walk miles in them and a knitted dress in navy.

The coat sizes large but is really warm, light and flattering. coat

The boots appeal to my gothic side. boots

The dress is a very good shape for apples. dress

The dress needs to be sized down from your normal size and there is no difference between the petite and norm in terms of sizing.

LostMarbles99 - I don't get it either. You are right, some is awful, some not.

This thread made me think of an article in the Daily Mash called 'Overreaction now the Standard Reaction'. You can't just not particularly like Next and not be that keen on their clothes, you have to HATE them, NONE of their clothes are nice, you INTENSELY dislike them, their clothes are HIDEOUS etc.

I just can't get that level of hatred worked up about a clothes shop!

Exactly dexter and I think perhaps some people like to have a bandwagon to jump on!

Maybe we should start a nice things in Next thread!

I also love the baby clothes- I would have been lost without Next for ds's clothes!

Some of the home items are perhaps a bit Hmm but its not like people are going to kit their entire house straight out of the Next directory?! It's the same with the clothes, mayor just pick and choose the nice bits and pieces!

Practicality, I have that coat too and have had lots of nice compliments about!

I usually find things I like in there. Nice casual jumpers etc. It's just an average high street shop.

Their high rise / high waisted jeans are the best shape for apples. They are so flattering and last ages. If they contain 2% stretch than go down a size as they do give, if 1 % than normal size should do.

They do great boots too if you have a wide calf but go for the designs where they have an elasticated panel as they will shape better to the leg rather than their wider fit ones.

It isn't a bandwagon it's recognising that for lots of people Next holds no appeal

Next = acres of drab shite

I saw some nice jumpers in the window a while back so went in to have a closer look. They were all incredibly boxily cut and made from synthetic fabric. I was quite disappointed.
