A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

MarshaBrady · 24/09/2013 22:21

Grumpy they look great.

Hello FrankieTwoSpots you should stay due to your fab name.

shopafrolic · 24/09/2013 22:21

Yessssss!!! Don't leave me hanging there in pleather all alone from back in the day......

Drywhiteplease · 24/09/2013 22:24

That's a great pic....my god I could post some hideous hair dos......

libertychick · 24/09/2013 22:25

Great find in Next Grumpy

Welcome Frankie Smile.

Great look shop - you look like you had a lot of fun back then!

I have memories as a teenager helping one of my aunts to remove some pleather trousers in the wee hours of the morning - t'was hilarious and a tad smelly

shopafrolic · 24/09/2013 22:25

My flatmate (a hairdresser) in the pic used to cut my hair for me, hungover on a Sunday morning in our PJs.

Ooh I like those Grumpy I have been looking for a brown pair rather than black, and such a bargain price it hardly counts as breaking my spending ban!!

Marsha I think you definitely did the right thing taking the sessun back, if something doesn't feel quite right when it's brand new it's got no chance a month or so further on.

Novice so jealous of your trips to the US, although only for the shopping potential, reading your schedule on here makes me exhausted.

I'm trying to find a UK stockist for Clare Vivier has anyone ordered through shopbop successfully? I think they have them but ideally I would like to see it in the flesh first. I initially spotted it on Pink peonies and have been in lust ever since, I have such an inner Bet Lynch desperate to get out. Whilst on the subject of pink peonies I wish I had her budget, figure and rockstuds!

MrsSheepiness · 24/09/2013 22:56

You sound like you would be great fun on a night out Shop!

justasecond · 24/09/2013 23:21

Hi all! Busy day today and am worn out as have just starting working, very part time though as ds still little. Thanks for the feedback on the bags I am too tired to decide what to do today. Has anyone seen this whistles one in the flesh?
Mig I think this is the same coat? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130982967493?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_3179wt_932

I would also like to buy some black leather ankle boots. I saw these in the RB shop in Bicester but they didn't have my size but said they may or may not get them in (about half the rrp).rag and bone boots I don't want to pay full price.
I also quite like these and could use hof vouchers to get them. KG boots they are comfortable but the heel is plastic not wood although it doesn't look that bad when on. Also like these but again v ££ I wonder if All Saints ever do discounts? saints What do you think?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 24/09/2013 23:27

MrsS Bodie and Fou stock a limited selection of Clare Vivier, as does &Other Stories. I have that foldover clutch in the leopard design but I bought it through the Clare Vivier website in the US some months ago. They are excellent quality (I also have the La Tropezienne bag from Bodie and Fou). They cope with much abuse and stay looking beautiful. Highly recommended

BrandyAlexander · 24/09/2013 23:45

Hello Grumpy! I was just thinking of you then up you popped! I like those trousers. Let us know what they're like on?

DryGrin this is the necklace that I wear all the time! Like my engagement ring....what possessed me to take it off other than a death wish I don't know! My next trip is 2 weeks time, maybe Claire's all the way!

I am now in connecting airport waiting for BA flight home. Ugh and my period has just started. Thankfully i was prepared but feel bloated. Americans really don't do airport lounges well! This trip has been 100% no shopping (but for connector which it turned out I didn't need as I had packed itBlush) I fear the cloud of the impending mahussive mortgage has dulled my shopping sensesShock

LinusDKD · 25/09/2013 07:50

Morning!

Welcome frankie

MrsS those C. Vivier clutches are gorgeous.

foxy hope you spent a mess free evening!

shop you looked supercool in that picture! I, on the other hand, have never been cool

I remember that when I was an exchange student in London in the late '90 my friends insisted I change for a night out as I had just dressed in my normal continental Sloane style.

But we were going to Heaven so they lent me a sparkly top and did my hair to look like Bjork's (little knots on top of my head) and only then was I deemed cool enough to go with them. Grin

Drywhiteplease · 25/09/2013 07:56

You can never have too many chargers Novice Smile
MrsSleepiness if you don't manage to get the CV clutch I seem to remember peony and Moore do a nice one too.
Not sure whether going. To town is a good idea when I'm on a spending ban Hmm
Today's colour combo.... Caramel and bright green with animal print slippers, think it works, sounds horrendous Grin

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 09:06

Great story Linus I used to love a camp night out in Heaven.
So come on ladies - Anni has joined the fun - anyone else care to share?
I have no food in my fridge and can't go out as am waiting for the DHL man to collect my jeans. How DS suffers! (to reassure lurkers he's had breakfast and I have bread and cheese - he won't starve)

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 09:07

Morning all...

There's a photo of me in my prime, you know where :o

Annianni · 25/09/2013 09:12

Novice do you really have a proper high powered job?
:o

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 09:27

Right - have put one more up, and then there'll be no more reminiscing from me.
Anni I think she's lying too! :)

I have work today but will join in when I get back. Grin

mignonette · 25/09/2013 09:42

Just

Thank you so much for that- you are an angel. I have messaged the buyer as they say they are large so have asked her what large means. I need smaller sadly Sad.

I like the Rag & Bone boots best as I buy quite a bit from them and the quality is pretty good. As long as you keep on top of re heeling and have a fresh protective sole added then they will last for years.

Hi Frankie Nice to meet you. Stick around w/ us.

MrsS I have some Claire Vivier pinned somewhere. I like her tan travel bagw/ the red/green ribbon trim-a bit 70's Gucci like Wink

Novice Have a good flight (although you are probably home by now) and get some sleep. I loved Hong Kong- imagine if you get to shop. I spent quite a bit of time there growing up.

My clubbing days were spent at Kinky Gerlinky, The Powerhaus in Islington and Trade (my colleagues used to take me as honorary female even though females frowned upon. One of them designed the interior). I went to Heaven a few times. Planet Dog in Finsbury Park was a scuzzy favourite too. I knocked about in early 80's St Pauls in Bristol too and also Tiger Bay, Cardiff. All the prime areas Grin....

LinusDKD · 25/09/2013 09:49

My J Crew tees have arrived and are lovely. They are quite thin (called Tissue tee for a reason) so I hope they wash well.

Wanted to order some other tees but the 25% off code has expired Sad

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2013 09:50

We used to go down some st in Soho (Berwick st maybe) and find a notice which said where a secret rave (ha) was on the day. I had a bf really into finding out where the action was and knowing people and all that.

Also something called earthcore in Aus. Crazy raves in the middle of a forest. Wonder if they're still going.

shopafrolic · 25/09/2013 09:52

Linus I wash my vintage cotton tees in laundry bags at 30 degrees on a delicate cycle and they have washed fine. I guess similar would be good for the tissue ones.....
