I've fallen back in love with clothes, getting my colours done next Saturday. I now make lists of requirements for each season instead of buying random bits of clothing that don't go with anything in my wardrobe, shopping is a much less depressing activity. I also have a much better idea about what suits my shape. Wear more scarves. Buy more natural fabrics. I use primer, sulphate free shampoo - Naked from boots. Use cream blusher. And spend more time in the Post Office returning unwanted bits of clothing.

Lizzabadger · 15/09/2013 11:14

Thanks Gin

Bunbaker · 15/09/2013 11:22

MN has provided me with loads of advice. I can't even remember how many things I do/have bought now thanks to MN, but the advice I have been given regarding DD's secondary education has been invaluable.

Thank you MNetters

Allthingspretty · 15/09/2013 11:28

To the postet wjo has a spotty chest Boots fo a spotty back product in their witch hazel range thatight sort it out??

FoxyHarlow123 · 15/09/2013 11:55

Who could forget the Soap n Glory foot file too? It's the shizzle? And the dermaflannel. And yes to the Babyliss big hair gadget.

And I don't get the M and S hate either. All shops have good and bad in them. Pick out the stuff you like, buy it and leave the rest for other people to look horrendous in buy.

NorksAreMessy · 16/09/2013 21:02

Vicks info

Put onto 'fungal nails' or ringworm it does seem to work and kill the fungus. info here

DH did a (not controlled or scientifically tested) trial by slathering Vicks on his ringworm and it has killed it (how I fancy that man!!!)

Our life is just one long round of pleasure

sassytheFIRST · 16/09/2013 21:04

Dettol in the bath? Is your bath made of tin and hauled in from the scullery once a week?

Other tips VG tho Smile

Levantine · 16/09/2013 22:43

Aldi bb cream IS the nuts mrsdevere. I also bought some anti age elixir thing in a red bottle the other day which seems really good. It was in the special offers aisle

BreakingBadger · 16/09/2013 23:17

What on earth is the function of Dettol in a bath? I have a shower every day with a gentle shower gel and am entirely clean - I don't feel the need to have a 'deep clean' Confused

lollylaughs · 17/09/2013 11:14

Grin at all the Dettol in the bath comments..

It seems to be a South African thing then, as per the sheep farmer. Not every day, but I do put a capful in the dc's bath often. There is nothing odd about this, most parents I know do it Smile.

I do think that it has come about as the dc do play outside a lot what with the nice weather, and they do end up getting scraped and scratched a lot. Dd is an outside girl and spends all afternoon out until I call her in. She has hung out with the dogs, her toes are always shredded to bit as she hardly wears shoes when playing out.

We have loads of Dettol branded products, bars of soap, liquid soap, shower gel, kitchen cleaner spray, cream cleaner for the bath, hand sanitizer. So if you bought the soap or the body wash for example, you would put a capful in the bath too Wink.

I buy Dettol in 2l bottles. Blush

lollylaughs · 17/09/2013 11:18

So the Dettol bit out the way, on to the changes I have made:

Oil cleansing (although this isn't going so great)
Dermaflannel (substituted with Microfibre cloth)
Wearing better fitting bra's
Taking off my make up properly at night
Having a complete cupboard sort out
Invested in a denim jacket Grin
And dresses which I am wearing now as usually would never.

Thanks everyone Grin.

LazyGaga · 17/09/2013 12:02

Does a cheapo microfibre cloth work well on the face then?

Shock Grin at lolly's Dettol obsession. Being exposed to a few germs and bacteria is a good thing, you do know that? Wink

onlysettleforbutterflies · 17/09/2013 12:11

Hot cloth cleansing has transformed my bumpy skin

Wearing my colours strictly again after a few years going off piste.

Buying far too many things I don't need because I can't resist a good recommendation.

Off to buy some dettol Grin

lollylaughs · 17/09/2013 12:34

Lazygaga, I meant that you can buy all these Dettol products here, I don't personally have them all (smile). But we get all this range of stuff in Savlon too...

I haven't found a dermaflannel here in SA, so have read that microfibre cloth works on the same principle. It has definately made a difference.

PeerMon · 17/09/2013 12:51

What's this hot cloth cleansing please?

onlysettleforbutterflies · 17/09/2013 12:57

PeerMon - I use (as recommended on here) the Superdrug Vit E one, its basically a cleanser, which you then remove using a muslin soaked in hot water (comes with it), then splash with cold. I have been doing it about a month now, after asking for help with my bumpy skin on here, its pretty much cleared up now.

Chubfuddler · 17/09/2013 13:43

What is a BB cream? I am so crap at make up type stuff I really have no idea.

LazyGaga · 17/09/2013 14:00

Ah apologies lolly, when you said "We have loads of Dettol branded products..." I thought you meant your household. Was imagining you floating around in a fug of Dettol!

Bobble33 · 17/09/2013 14:47

Hi Levantine Is the Aldi BB cream available all the time? Does it come in various shades?

JustBecauseICan · 17/09/2013 14:51

I always had Dettol in the bath as a child. Not south African, or anything to do with sheep (apart from acting like one when on S & B)

Chub- you need the Boot Botanics BB cream. T'is the bollocks. There's a MN quiche about it in S & B.

Hullygully · 17/09/2013 14:55

Speaking as a sheep, I can wholeheartedly recommend Dettol in the bath. My wool has never been so pest free.

Chubfuddler · 17/09/2013 14:58

Ta

becsbornunderadancingstar · 17/09/2013 14:59

I discovered Lily Lolo mineral powder on here which is ace, flexitol for my feet, and buying stuff via Feel Unique. All of which have changed my life for the better!

And I love having a laugh at the latest M&S monstrosity - always makes my day Grin

Levantine · 17/09/2013 15:47

bobble I think it came in two shades but I am not sure that it is available all the time - I found it in the special offers bit
